The Annapolis House and a Half is an historic house built in 1920. As you’d expect from being 100 years old, she is not perfect and has some crooked lines but she’s solid, beautiful, and unique with charming accents throughout. The house is a easy 6 -7 minute walk to West St restaurants and shops and a 10-13 minutes walk to Main St, downtown and the City Dock. And just two blocks from the Naval Stadium.

bad neighborhood and needed a cleaning!
The check in process was ideal. No issues. The decor is exactly as pictured, and it was very cute. Had most home items anyone would need. I did need to buy a hairdryer thinking it would have one as it is a pretty standard item. Sinks were dirty. Stove top was dusty. Hair on pillow cases and towels. There is a problem with ants on kitchen counter. All of the above I could have overlooked because there were cleaning supplies in the house, but the neighborhood was shady. Half a block away there were young adults hanging outside a house 24/7 doing questionable activity. We drove to the nearby downtown area just to avoid walking in the neighborhood.

About the host

Host profile image
I owned Chez Pierre restaurant in Tallahassee for 20+ years and now live on a boat, currently docked in Melbourne, FL, enjoying life, beauty and love. Along with my wife, Kathleen, we love to travel and discover new adventures and experiences. We are living on our Navigator 4800 MY and working our way slowly through the Great Loop. We are hosts to three properties, two in Carrabelle, FL and one in Annapolis, MD. We love hosting people from all over the world and sharing our homes and love of the areas with them. Each of our properties have unique features and we do our best to make them special, comfortable and memorable for our guests. We want them to be more than a bed and a roof.... We want our properties to be experiences .... places to make lasting memories for each guest whom we are honored to host.

Why they chose this property

The House and a Half is part of an older, urban downtown neighborhood steeped in history and culture.
It sits on a quiet residential block in a culturally diverse, urban neighborhood. We find this older, eclectic and multi-cultural neighborhood a real and refreshing place. Here you will find all races, colors and types of people, making it a very interesting and unique place to visit. It’s an urban and diverse neighborhood for sure, but we feel it’s as safe as any city or downtown neighborhood. No, it’s not the suburbs, but we have very kind neighbors next to us and across the street. And there are lots of families. And lots of colors. If this doesn’t sound like your kind of neighborhood, you might want to try another listing.
But if you appreciate different people and cultures, and want to be able to walk to downtown Annapolis, please give our house and neighborhood a try.

What makes this property unique

Our house has character and history...she has stood for over 100 years...and as you’d expect from being 100 years old, she is not perfect and has some crooked lines and leans a bit, but she’s solid, beautiful, and unique with charming accents throughout.
We have collected many pieces of art through the years and you will see many of them throughout the House and a Half. Original, unique and colorful... our decor reflects our style...artful and eclectic. Stepping into our house, you will feel welcome and warm with a sense of serenity and calm. The perfect place to relax, unwind and prepare for your fantastic visit to downtown Annapolis and all that awaits you there.
The house is a easy 6 -7 minute walk to West St restaurants and shops and a 10-13 minutes walk to Main St, downtown and the City Dock. And just two blocks from the Naval Stadium.
