About this property

Stunning Ocean View - Classic Riviera Villa

A historic Riviera Villa Estate, built in 1916, this property enchants with it's location at the top of the world renowned American Riviera with spacious rooms & breathtaking views of the entire Santa Barbara coast and Channel Islands beyond. .
One enters through a vaulted breezeway to the entry courtyard where the terraced gardens and shade trees soften the view and provide separate and distinct areas for all forms of rest & relaxation. All downstairs rooms including living, dining, library/offfice and detached guest quarters have french doors that open onto private gardens and outdoor living spaces. High ceilings throughout and casual, but, elegant decor including hardwood floors and seagrass carpet, give the house a comfortable feel that combines the best of Spanish Colonial architecture with modern day California living. A large outdoor fireplace and gas grill compliment the outdoor areas. The kitchen comes fully outfitted with Garland commercial range, marble countertops, Miele dishwasher, etc.... and is sure to please any cook.

While providing a tranquil setting for a home away from home experience, the location is centrally located between downtown (5-10 min), Montecito (15 min.) and the airport (20-25 min.). This is the quintessential Santa Barbara home, where one can easily imagine being in the south of France or on the Amalfi Coast, without the airfare!
There are two king bedrooms upstairs at either end of the house with ocean views, balconies, and baths. The 3rd bedroom upstairs has a double bed or can be used as a second office and part of the master suite. All bedrooms have draperies and/or Roman Shades on all windows. Detached guest quarters downstairs provides a comfortable sitting and work area, as well as queen bed and full bath. We hope you will enjoy and explore all our beautiful region has to offer: miles and miles of white sand beaches, great hiking, golf, and water sports , award winning wineries & restaurants, etc…. If you are also looking to relax at the end of your day from the comfort of your own terrace with one if the best views in Santa Barbara, then this is a good fit for you.

Beautiful Historic Villa with Spectacular Views
This is a simply beautiful estate with incredible views of Santa Barbara and the Coast. The outside patio with a fireplace and seating is a terrific place for a meal or snacks while enjoying the view. The bedrooms are all quite comfortable. The only downside is that the upstairs rooms with wonderful views have no drapes so you get full sunlight right away in the morning. If you wake up if there is too much light then this will bother you. The grounds are lovely. The kitchen is well equipped for any kind of meal prep that you want to do and there is a gas grill as well. The owner is very helpful and gave us some nice tips. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

Multigenerational gathering a success
The house, the host, the environs all collaborated to make our multigenerational stay terrific. Our host was very kind, available when we had questions, and made us feel most welcome. The drive way accomodated our three cars and a total of 8 stayed in the house. We all agreed we would want to visit again.

We had an unforgettable stay at this wonderful estate. The views surpass the pictures by miles. The owner was very helpful and you really do feel as if you are in the Riviera of another country.

Relaxing, casual home with bohemian vibe ...
I read all of the reviews, and feel I can't say much new ... our story is much the same as the others ... a group of six girlfriends chose this house for a special 25 year reunion. The pictures do not do this house justice. Everywhere you look, there's something to feast the eyes on ... from the view that goes on for miles, mountains, Santa Barbara and ocean ... to the lovely paintings, antiques and Spanish Colonial feel of the house ... to the gardens that beg to be explored and sprawl out through the property. I had to pinch myself! While he house is older, which makes for quirky locks, and uneven floors, this only adds to the charm. The furnishings are incredibly cozy, and there are so many places to lose yourself, both inside and out, with a book, glass of wine, or to visit. We used every room ... coffee and wine on the terraces, breakfast al fresco and in the dining room, after dinner drinks in front of the fire. There are many classic books in the library, the kitchen is well appointed, and there are TV set ups, although with so much beauty, who had time? The only "con" is the location, as it is twisty turny up the hill, but it really turns into a "pro" as the view begs you to never leave. I'm counting the days until I can return ...

About the host

After living in Italy for several years, we were almost ready to make the permanent move, but, couldn't quite give up life in Santa Barbara. We now travel extensively and are happy to share our home to others visiting the area. Since we do still live on the property part of the year, we do ask that you treat our home as you would your own while you are here.

Why they chose this property

When we first saw this house over twenty years ago, it was love at first sight. It was the third house built on the Riviera and when you experience the view for the first time, you can understand why the sight was chosen. It has a very romantic timeless appeal and has a "slow down, enjoy the day" feel to it that cannot be resisted!
