This Paradise Retreats estate has been transformed into an enchanting vacation paradise with complex carpentry, woodcarving, and architecture that mixes old-world and modern styles. The gourmet Kitchen includes island seating next to a cozy fireplace and sitting area and four large bedrooms that can comfortably fit two families. There’s even a private library to catch up on your reading of J.R.R Tolkien’s classic novels.

The outdoor space is a showstopper. A hot tub with a fountain leading into a pool, multiple seating areas with outdoor dining, a fire pit, and a beautifully tiled outdoor shower. Located near Hope Ranch in Santa Barbara, you’ll be smelling the fresh sea air and are down the street from the dog-friendly Hendry’s Beach and the Boathouse Restaurant.

Clearly a well designed and well loved house with great attention to detail.We felt very welcome, with good local information provided and we would return as a family or even extended group.Watching the hummingbirds by pool or in thw lovely gardens was a highlight.A great place as either a base to explore from or somewhere to just stay and relax.

Great place!

We had a great time at the shire! I would suggest this rental for big groups. Just remember to bring your own spices and DO NOT speak a word outside after 9 pm.

Flawless experiences from start to finish! The owners of this place were committed to the Lord of the Rings theme and absolutely nailed the design and details. The kitchen was fully stocked and beautiful. We spend a lot of time in the beautiful rose garden and by the pool. The beds were comfy and showers were stunning and functional. 10/10. Anytime we had questions, the prop managers were on it. If you are debating on renting this home, here’s your sign to book it.

Perfect family getaway

I needed a place in Santa Barbara for a long weekend to connect with family from out of town and this was perfect. The house and garden were beautiful! It was such a treat to play in the pool and hang out in the jacuzzi. The house was really fun, clean and spacious and the beds were really comfortable. It was also wonderful to be so close to downtown. We’ll definitely stay here again!

Pictures don't catch the great quality of this home, the cabinetry, arched doors, and architectural details are amazing! Location is at the base of a hill about half a mile from a public beach, and a quick drive from Santa Barbara. Loved the experience, the family wants to do it again next year.

It is a Happy Place!

This is a wonderful property. The grounds are beautiful and the house is very comfortable. The kitchen is the best equipped I have ever rented. The added plus fir me was the library that was straight out of The Hobbit and filled with terrific books…many Scandinavian mysteries (my favorite). This is a wonderful place to get away from it all.

Great place for family vacation

Clean and fun themed house! Kitchen was so well stocked. Great yard with hot tub, pool and gardens. Personally the master bed felt like a rock (I tried shoving blankets under the sheets ) but all other guests felt their beds were great. Very short rides to downtown/State street. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

The property was in a great location near the town of Santa Barbara. There is a Vons grocery store minutes away. The pool and Jacuzzi rocked. We had dinner outdoors every night. The house was in excellent condition. Would do it again.

Family Wedding Weekend

We enjoyed the property. It was spacious with room for all seven of us to spread out. The pool and hot tub were used and appreciated. The kitchen was very well supplied. We had a concern with hot water and a few other issues and found paradise retreats to be prompt and supportive in fixing the problems. Some of us found the lights to be extremely frustrating-with the light switches and dimmers

Perfect Weekend Vacation!!!

Our stay was AMAZING! The house was perfect for our group of ladies who gathered from all over to celebrate my 50th. Each and every bedroom was clean, beautifully decorated and the beds were SOOOO comfortable. The pool, firepit, hot tub, ping pong and badminton court had us playing in the sun all day! The kitchen was stocked perfectly with all condiments and all the right glasses and serving platters we needed. Holly greeted us when we arrived and was AWESOME too. My only regret is that I am not there now! We will definitely be back. The property people go above and beyond!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!

Not great curb appeal but once you get beyond the bushes into the backyard and/or into thw house you are immediately blown away on why this is such a sought after vacation home. It simply has everything you want and more; great pool + hot tub + firepit + outdoor grill (natural gas) + outdoor seating for 8 and addtl casual seating around firepit and near hottub. Inside it is an entertainer's dream in the kitchen and dining room. TV room is average but if you're on vacation to watch TV then, well, this isn't the home for you. Best of all, a stone's throw from Hendry's Beach and Boathouse Restaurant. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Paradise!

8 of us stayed including my 89 yo mom and 97yo MIL . Lord of rings theme was loved by my 31 yo step daughter and overall very clever! rented the house for graduation so we would be able to be together as a family and enjoy the place. Swam in the pool and enjoyed the hitting. Had every meal except one at the house-eating inside/outside. House is fully equipped and property management responsive when questions asked. The rose garden and grounds are just stunning. 0.75 walk to Burro Arroyo beach. Was lovely. Beds comfy-everything wonderful. Thanks!!
