The Mermaid's Pillow is located on NC Highway 12 in Nags Head at MP 11.25. It is directly across the street from the beach. There are 2 beach accesses nearby & it's a 3–4 minute walk to the beach.

Cottage boasts classic Nags Head style with modern amenities. Color TVs, You Tube TV & Internet. Fully appointed kitchen with electric range, microwave, refrigerator & dishwasher. Washer/dryer. Handicap accessible master bedroom & bath feature large roll-in shower with shower chair and double vanity with roll-under feature for wheelchairs. Upstairs offers 2 bedrooms and 1 bath with double vanities. Ramps front & back making for easy access. Private in-ground pool with large deck in fenced backyard.

*PLEASE NOTE: During "peak" season weekly bookings are restricted to Saturday to Saturday ONLY*

A well-maintained and clean property in a great location with beach access just across the street. Photos were accurate and the pool was really nice to have. Communication with the owner was clear and convenient. We will plan to stay here again in the future!

Cottage was fantastic and perfect for our group of five! Host was communicative. Everything was as advertised and clean. Beach access is close. Restaurants and Ice Cream in walking distance. It was honestly perfect for me and my family. Would definitely stay here again.

This place was amazing! It was the cleanest rental we have ever stayed in. We were able to check in as soon as the property was ready, which was earlier than expected and a nice bonus! The pool was the perfect size for a small family with older people and/or kids. This place is very family friendly, we would definitely recommend. 10/10!

This is a perfect beach cottage. It was clean, the host was easy to communicate with, it was across the street from the beach, the pool was great. All and all it was a fantastic rental. We were initially wary due to the lack of linens especially as guests who were flying in, but rented them and it was honestly quite simple. Would highly rec this place.

Our stay at 'Mermaid's Pillow' was nothing short of amazing! The check-in process was super easy and the house was spotless. The location is perfect since it's just steps from a crosswalk and quick beach access. The pool was perfect to relax in after a day at the beach. The decor is so well thought out and just adds to this being a perfect beach house. The host was very attentive to any questions we had. All of this combined made our stay a 5 star experience and we will be back!

Why they chose this property

Since building our home we have a new son-in-law who is a quadriplegic. Our home is not accessible and their visits required staying in hotel. We decided to build a handicap accessible beach cottage for the use of our family & to put in a rental program. Our belief is that there are many families and/or individuals who will benefit from such a cottage. Whether is be a wheelchair, walker, cane or artificial limb. Although it is totally handicap accessible it is also the perfect cottage for those without disabilities.

What makes this property unique

Unique, cozy, affordable & conveniently located. Beach access is a short walking distance away with ramp leading to viewing platform. Open floor plan on ground level with master bedroom/bathroom. Covered porches front & back. Rear ramp make for easy access to pool deck & backyard. Plenty of parking.
