Lovely Boathouse

Location was great. All our needs were met. We really enjoyed the Kayaks that were provided and the back porch was perfect.

We left after one night and requested a full refund because we did not feel the property was safe to occupy. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend this property. The biggest concern was the air quality. There was visible mold around the HVAC vent, the air return and filters were covered in dust and lint, and the unit had a strong musty odor. While sleeping, we developed respiratory symptoms that were significant enough that, as a physician, I was not comfortable remaining in the property. The cleanliness was also unacceptable. The porch fan was completely covered in thick spider webs, there were bugs inside the unit, and the overall condition suggested the property had not been properly prepared for guests. We later found another review documenting the same issue with the porch fan, indicating this was not an isolated oversight. We also had food safety concerns. The refrigerator had excessive ice buildup on the back wall, a poor door seal, and did not appear to maintain a safe temperature. We lost groceries we had purchased for our stay. The host's response made the experience even worse. Rather than acknowledging these concerns, they minimized each issue, blamed us, and even attempted to retain the cleaning fee despite the property's condition on arrival. After we left, they cleaned the cobwebs and used that as evidence nothing was wrong. We drove six hours round trip, took time off work, lost groceries, experienced respiratory symptoms, and had our vacation cut

There were dead animals on the property. Kayaks on the dock full of water and mosquito hatching. The trash cans outside were full and overflowing. Property not as described.

Alas this review is entirely unrepresentative of this property and inaccurate in every way. Hopefully it can be removed, but that rarely happens. Unfortunately Molly was a 4 night local booking who we presume didn’t read the description of the house which clearly states that this beautiful boathouse sits on a shared parcel of land with the adjacent main home next door. Our properties are meticulously cleaned and also inspected by a staff member prior to our guest arrivals. This happened as normal and there were no dead animals or anything of that nature present during our inspection. The trash cans were indeed full and scheduled for the weekly pickup the following day. The reference to the kayak, was one that the guests next door had used that day and as a result was sitting out on the dock. We can only assume that Molly was expecting a full home and not a studio boathouse as she explained there wasn’t enough space to cook with and on the morning after their first night requested a refund otherwise they would be leaving a poor review. We immediately requested photos so we could see what she was referencing and offered to send a staff member over to investigate. We were informed they had left the property that morning. We didn’t receive any photos and weren’t given an opportunity to come and review anything with them in person. That being said, we did immediately go to the property to follow up and still found no evidence of what was being described.
