A Tale of Two Miracles: The Intersection of Homeownership and Parenthood At 45, I never imagined my life would take such an extraordinary turn. After years of hoping and trying, I miraculously became pregnant—with twins. It was as if fate had granted us a second chance, a new beginning filled with twice the joy and adventure. To celebrate this miracle, my husband and I poured our hearts into creating a dream beach home, which we affectionately named "SEA"ing Double.

Our primary residence is nestled in the quiet town of Dunn, North Carolina, where life moves at its own gentle pace. But the beach house—oh, that place feels like a slice of heaven perched on the edge of the Atlantic in Oak Island. Every morning, the sun rises over the water, painting the sky with shades of pink and orange, promising new adventures.

Why they chose this property

Key Reasons Families Love Oak Island:

Safe and Gentle Beaches: The south-facing shore creates calm waves and moderate tides, making it excellent for children, swimming, and searching for seashells, especially at "The Point" on the west end.
Abundant Family Activities:
Nature & Education: The Oak Island Nature Center features fishing docks, hiking trails, and animal exhibits.
Outdoor Fun: Play mini-golf, explore the Kevin Bell Skatepark, or visit Middleton Park which has a splash pad and playgrounds.
Lighthouse Tours: Families can tour or climb the Oak Island Lighthouse at Caswell Beach.
Convenience and Relaxation: The island offers a small-town vibe with easy access to grocery stores (Publix), local shops, and casual restaurants. It is also highly accessible for strollers and pedestrians, featuring an extensive sidewalk system.
Fishing and Water Sports: With two piers (Oak Island Pier and Ocean Crest Pier) and numerous boat/kayak ramps, it is a hub for fishing and coastal water sports.
Accessible Coastal Living: With over 42 public beach accesses and ample parking, it is often considered more accessible than many other NC coastal towns

What makes this property unique

On the serene edge of Oak Island, North Carolina, nestled near the intercoastal waterway, stood a unique property unlike any other. Its crowning jewel was a private saltwater pool shimmering under the golden sun, a tranquil oasis that mirrored the endless blue sky. Just three-tenths of a mile away lay Publix, bustling local restaurants, and the soft sandy stretch of THE BEACH—a perfect blend of convenience and natural beauty.
Oak Island, NC, is a unique, family-oriented coastal town renowned for its laid-back, "old Florida" charm rather than high-rise development. It features over 10 miles of quiet, south-facing beaches—allowing for both sunrise and sunset views over the water—along with extensive public access, a historic lighthouse, and a strong sea turtle conservation program.

Key Aspects That Make Oak Island Unique:
Unique Orientation: Because the island runs east-west, it is one of the few places on the East Coast where you can watch the sunrise and sunset over the water from the same spot.
Small-Town Charm: The town lacks high-rise hotels, offering a nostalgic, family-friendly beach vacation feel with over 60 public beach access points.
Oak Island Lighthouse: Completed in 1958, it is the last lighthouse built in North Carolina and features unique construction, with the top section poured with black concrete.
Active Sea Turtle Protection: Locals and tourists alike participate in the Oak Island Sea Turtle Protection Program, which actively patrols the beaches for nesting activity.
Recreational Access: The town offers two fishing piers, a marina, and over 40 public water access points, including the Intracoastal Waterway.
Historic Sites: It is home to the Civil War-era Fort Caswell, located on the eastern tip.
Nature Center: The Oak Island Nature Center offers an educational look at local wildlife, such as turtles and birds.
