Stay at our newly renovated, light filled home! In the warmer months lounge by the heated pool in the private tree-filled yard, relax in the hot tub that overflows into the pool, nap in the shade of the pool house, then rinse off in the outdoor shower. Read a book in the hammock or on the porch rocking chairs. BBQ on the big back deck and hang out by the outdoor fire pit to roast marshmallows in the evening. **Pool & hot tub CLOSED NOVEMBER - MAY.
In the colder months, stay in the mid-century modern style living room, play board games and watch a movie on Netflix with a roaring fire in the stone fireplace or walk to the best sledding on the island. Cook in our well appointed kitchen and eat while watching the sunshine and stars through the dining room skylight. You will never have to leave the house for an incredibly relaxing vacation! Perfect for a family get away any time of year (we also have toys, pool toys, and a Wii with lots of games) or for a place just to get away from it all.

And when you want to get out to explore Shelter Island - we are less than 1 mile from beautiful Sunset Beach! Beach by day, have a cocktail at the bar to watch the sunset in the evening! Walking distance to the public golf course. Or take the Ferry to Greenport or Sag Harbor for an easy trip! Ride the bikes to town for lunch. From the house it's an easy walk to the ice cream shop and Ice Pond Park.

The house is situated on a very quiet, dead-end street with a beautiful, tree filled, and large yard. We have privacy for relaxing, but are close enough to Shelter Island Heights, the North Ferry to Greenport, the South Ferry to the Hamptons, and other conveniences to make this the perfect vacation location.

We'll provide you with maps and tips for exploring the island's beaches and restaurants. Before purchasing this house we rented on Shelter Island for many years, so our goal is to make your stay as perfect as we can.

Shelter Island Sanctuary

The home is beautiful. If you love being outside, this is the place. Beautiful yard, with many separate areas to sit, meditate , read or socialize. Great for families with all ages of children. Great for friend get together.

Good spot for Shelter Island

Very comfortable home, convenient to most of what you need while on the island. Rear deck/yard/pool provide a great option for those times when you want to stay at home. The home is well prepared to be your ‘home away from home’.

Our happy place!

We have been coming to Jennifer’s house for seven years now, and it’s our favorite place. We spend hours at the pool and hot tub, and the kids love the rope swing in the front yard. Jennifer is one of the best hosts - she responds quickly and helps make our stay as comfortable as possible. We love her place!

A really special property and a special mention to Jennifer who went out of their way to remove a hornet nest that had appeared in the garden within 12 hours of bringing it to their attention. We loved every minute here and will be back for sure

Fantastic pool, cute house

We had a great time at the house. The pool and hot tub are great, and they heat up fairly quickly. The bedrooms are nice, as are the bathrooms. The living room is comfortable with lots of games available. We liked the availability of pool floats and bikes. The location is also great. The one downside was the electric stove/oven. Otherwise, we had a wonderful time at the house and would definitely rent it again!

A delightful sanctuary

This was our 2nd Summer here and it was even better than we remembered. Home is comfortable, clean and well equipped. Pool, hot tub & yard are fabulous and spacious. Secluded, but close enough to walk to Sunset Beach, public golf course, ice cream shop and several eateries in the Heights area (in day time on 'country roads') . Great for couples as well as families with children as back & front yards are expansive. Ferries make both North & South Forks easy access, but there is plenty to do on Island. Host Jennifer is gracious and very responsive to even the smallest inquiries. Highly recommend this property.

Shelter Island Gem with Great Value

What a lovely retreat! Beautiful property and surprise upgrades throughout the home; a delight as soon as you open the front door. Gorgeous and spacious backyard, pool, hot tub and pool house. Even better than the photos. The kitchen upgrades were chef quality and had every imaginable appliance including a high end juicer and coffee maker. Tastefully decorated but not overdone; comfortable beds throughout, along with a plethora of video games, children's toys and an interesting book collection in the MBR. Easy walk to 'Sunset Beach', several restaurants, bagel shop and ice cream parlor but don't miss an opportunity to explore the rest of the Island, beaches and nature trails. Host Jennifer was extremely available to answer any questions and an ample 'house book' provided many suggestions for activities, dining and adventures. We are already looking at next year's calendar to rent again!

Our stay in JENNIFER’s house was perfect. The description of the house is very accurate and I believe that it is even nicer. The garden is beautiful and it gives the house a very special atmosphere. Jennifer was always prompt to answer any doubts we had. Thank you. I can imagine enjoying the house in a warmer time of the year: beach, bbq and swimming pool. I might have to try this!

Peace On Earth

A modern, clean, well-appointed house with everything you'd need for a fantastic and zen-filled vacation. The tranquility of gazing skyward at the beautiful landscape from the hot tub/pool might just be the meaning of life. Jennifer’s place is a dream! It was the perfect rental for my husband and I and our two year old. Very child friendly and safe, which was appreciated. The house is lovely and decorated in a way that is calming but not overwhelming with things a toddler could break. Great amenities. "Hi Jennifer, I just wanted to let you know how much our family’s time at your home on Shelter Island meant to us. Your care and pride in your family’s respite shines through as soon as you step through the door. Although we always try to leave a home as clean and tidy as when we arrive, we felt so endeared to your hospitality we talked as a family how to keep things nice, avoid cup rings on wooden pieces, watch for any issues, add to your shell collection on the front porch railing, leave a few things for the freezer and pantry! Thank you for having thought of all of the little things which a family might need in the kitchen, we loved cooking and eating together in your well stocked (essentials and spices and gadgets and more!) It was a restful and healing stay for us. We all enjoyed the pool and, especially I, the hot tub, so relaxing and such a treat to be outdoors a little longer this season. Peaceful family retreat

Hi we traveled as a family of four adults (including grandparents) and our two children ages 6 and 2.5yrs old) in the month of July 2021. We had a wonderful time and would not hesitate to recommend this property to others. Our kids had the best time at the pool and hot tub area and in the garden. The house was very clean, had everything you needed and was very cozy and comfortable as well. Its a great option for a quiet family vacation and traveling with small children. We may be biased because Shelter Island holds a special place in our hearts but the house and surrounding grounds were beautiful and held their own. We are really thankful for being able to stay there and would love to return!

Just what we needed

We had a great time at this house. Shelter island is beautiful and the house is located near the end of a quiet street. It has a large private yard and a wonderful pool and spa. You are on a neighborhood street but it feels very private. Jennifer was very nice and helpful with any questions we had. We would go back if the opportunity arrises.

We live busy lives so purchased this home on Shelter Island so we could spend more time on this amazing island with our family.

Why they chose this property

After vacationing first in the North Fork and then on Shelter Island for the past 10 summers, we felt that the extra trip across the ferry really made Shelter Island feel even more special. Yet we are still close enough for many day trips to the North Fork and to the Hamptons. It's ideal.

What makes this property unique

Inside, the vaulted ceiling makes the small home feel surprisingly larger than it looks from the outside. And outside with the pool and hot tub in the summer, the beauty of the leaves in the fall, the flowers in the spring, and the snow in the winter - it's great year round.
