Our stay at the Pond House was wonderful! We were in the area for a wedding and the cozy apartment was perfect for our time away from home. The Pond House was equipped with everything we needed and it was sparkling clean. The neighborhood was quiet and five minutes from the airport. We couldn’t have had a better stay.
The space is clean and well-maintained. Being a basement apartment, there may be occasional noise from the upper level.

Clean enough. Located in basement, damp & smelled musty. Also some fruit flies in the space. Open chip bags, & items in fridge. Great shower area. Suggest airing the space and turning on dehumidifier 24 hours prior to occupancy and timely cleaning post checkout.

Nice area and conveniently located near Shenandoah National Park. The downstairs apartment was very clean and quiet except for the footsteps we heard past midnight every night (which didn’t really bother us because we are night owls). We had everything we needed for preparing meals, but we did struggle a little bit with the mini fridge and used coolers as back up. Overall, a nice place to stay and we would definitely consider staying there again if we are back in the area.
The property is ideally located to explore Monticello, Univ of VA, Charlottsville & surrounding sites. The apartment could not be cleaner or better appointed with all the kitchen and bath items that make a stay comfortable. Our biggest ‘dislikes’ were that the rather narrow and steep(ish) steps into this basement apartment because they are difficult to navigate if you have balance issues (especially when lugging suitcases), there was a damp, lingering basement odor and no windows. If these things don’t bother you, it’s a great value, convenient location and comfortable.
My husband and I stayed at the Pond House while we attended a conference in Charlottesville. It’s an easy drive into town, and we had everything we needed for a comfortable night. Thank you!
Perfect location for visiting family just north of Charlottesville. The host was quickly responsive to my questions prior to our visit and I couldn't be more pleased with the accommodations. I would definitely choose to stay at The Pond House again!
This is a sweet little studio style apartment that suited us quite well. It is in the basement. It was very comfortable for my husband and me and the location was perfect for visiting family in the area. Quick drive to Charlottesville and surrounding areas.John was very hospitable and quick to respond to any request requests. We will keep this place in mind for future visits.
I booked this place as a temporary place to sleep during my first couple weeks of work before permanently moving, so I really didn’t need much. Instead of just a place to sleep for a few nights, I got a place that felt like it could be home with a fully stocked kitchen, beautiful bathroom, and cozy floor plan that made me feel instantly relaxed. Not to mention an excellent selection of complimentary movies. If this place was available to rent, I wouldn’t hesitate to sign a lease. Loved my stay.
Clean, comfortable, relaxing, and the pond is right outside for evening cocktails. Lots of places to go, Charlottesville is close ( 20min drive) quaint town with lots to do. We highly recommend this charming home.Jeff and Cindy
Overall I am pleased with my stay. The location was very close to the airport and convenient to Charlottesville and the Shenandoah National Forest. Space was ample for one person or a couple. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes and necessities. Lots of clean towels and linens. It is a basement apartment so it is damp and musty which is to be expected in a basement. The footsteps overhead are quite loud but otherwise it is a quiet location. Stairs outside are a little steep and it is not wheelchair accessible.

Our staybwas great. I stayed for 2 days with my husband and 4 year old daughter, the apartment included everything we needed and it was very clean. We really enjoyed staying there and felt like home. Thank you very much!
John & Maria's "pond house" basement apartment was just what I needed for a couple of days' quiet work, including a one-day conference just down the road at the University. I would definitely stay here again.
Great accomodations for 2 people with the spacious open concept floor plan. Will definitely book again as the price and location were great for us. As per other reviews, we heard footsteps a couple of times, but nothing that annoyed us. In fact, we let out a cheer watching the hockey game which they definitely heard, and realizing how loud we were, went into quiet mode the rest of the stay. Super friendly hosts.
The pool house was very very clean and neat! The host was very helpful. The only draw back was the lack of a shower curtian and that was a minor inconvenience
Good communication, comfortable and as described. No issues.

Weekend relaxation didn't happen
We might have been better prepared for our trip had we known the apartment is below the owners. We left at 2am for a hotel because my husband couldn't sleep. He tried for a few hours but the night was spent listening to whoever was crossing the floor upstairs. This was every few mins. We tried for a while until my husband had had enough. This was supposed to be a weekend away for him to relax and not worry about anything. The last thing we expecting was to drive for 2 1/2 hours after working all day and then, be up all night. It would have been a huge plus to know that this rental was someone's basement. They should've put a picture of the steep steps you go down in order to get to the basement. I wasted money on a spot we never would've rented had we known. And then had to double the money spent on another location. Definitely did not turn out the way we had planned. We also didn't meet the owners. A guy came outside when we pulled in to tell us where to park and where to go. There was no other communication after that, even after we left and didn't go back.
