Thank you for choosing Rippling Waters! Tom and I are glad you found the property to be beautiful and you enjoyed fishing in the 12 acre Lake (it is considered a pond by DEP with 25 acres of additional wetlands). We apologize for the inconvenience of no TV as the One Room Cabin has a TV screen for DVD's whereas we offer a large collection to guests who request movies. Most guests are more interested in enjoying nature, the lake, lookout point, hiking and visiting the horses. Regarding the WIFI we just upgraded our WIFI box from Verizon last month which is a much stronger version than the last WIFI boxes. We currently have a guest in the Cabin and the WIFI is fine. O Regrading your suggestion of building a cart for the luggage that sounds like a good idea though it would be quite bumpy and we typically handle luggage for our guests that need assistance and although I texted you the morning of departure to see how you were doing and to let you know we would extend your departure time you didn't respond to my text. Since you were off the premises a lot and came back late at night we didn't have a chance to meet you after our helper checked you in. Tom and I look forward to getting to know our guests who are residing on our property. Perhaps the Carriage House or the Stables Apt might have been a better fit for you regarding easy access. We are pleased to know that you found the Cabin well appointed, clean, comfortable and peaceful sitting on the porch....exactly what we envision for our guests. So happy to hear that you made the sunset hike up to Lookout Point, enjoyed paddling around the lake, and loved on the horses....including Foxy :) We really appreciate guests like you that enjoy all the opportunities here on the property as well as the surrounding sites in the area....you both are the exact reason why we open up our home. In reading your review we are very confused about the things you are saying. The only mention of African American people was when you asked Tom if we had ever rented to other African American people. The only time we talked about hairstyles was when I complimented your lovely dreads and you suggested I'd look nice in dreads. We do have curtains on the windows in the bed area. If you felt uncomfortable about an open window view from the living area all you needed to do was tell us and we would have hung curtains to make you feel comfortable. The Cabin is very secluded and people come to observe nature which the living area window allows for the view. Regarding the phone call we received from you at 9:30 pm to ask for charcoal, Tom brought the charcoal to you to find that the you were squirting lighter fluid on the campfire with 8 foot flames shooting up and then no flames because you had the giant logs we provided with no kindling. Your boyfriend had, upon check in, told us when asked, that yes he knew how to make a fire. Which was not true and can become dangerous as to fire will burn down the cabin and the forest around it. You rejected Toms offer to help you build your campfire.Tom noted that you needed to use kindling and that squirting lighter fluid on a campfire is dangerous and the lighter fluid is meant for the charcoal grill. And we ask all our guests to please fill the bucket we provide with water in case of emergency yet the bucket was empty. When you texted your concern about Tom seeming annoyed about then fire situation, I asked you to call me and you never did. Instead within an hour you packed up and left in the middle of the night which in the ten years we've been hosting people has never happened. On top of everything Tom offered to take your boyfriend on a four wheeler drive to see the layout of the trails. Tom also offered to pick you up in the village if you hiked over the mountain to breakfast. And as far as the third night...you never paid for it as you asked us to hold it for you. We felt we went above and beyond to help you feel welcomed. We liked you both and had no issues until the fire situation. And as far as your comment about African Americans wouldn't be welcome here....the very next night we had a lovely African American couple who wrote a great review. We hope you recognize a lot of your concerns could have been mitigated with a simple conversation. We don't see color, we see people..

We are glad you enjoyed the cabin though we are sorry about your complaints starting with the directions, and about check out time. Yes 90% of our guests come from the NYC area and on rare occasions guests who arrive from many other locations ask us for the best route which we happily assist. I am sorry the hear the dryer was missing...I will make sure this is taken care of. The Lake is a 12 acres with plenty of room and we ask that our guests please give some breathing room for our house at the end of the lake. We like our privacy just as we make sure our guests accommodations have privacy ....plus we have a little havapo dog that may start barking. As far as the sound, I don't know what prompted Tom to text this ? as it is not something we do. Regarding the keys we don't provide keys unless someone asks for them as often the guests inadvertently forget to leave the keys. We are a 400 acre estate a very private property and the Cabin is almost 1/2 down the driveway...our property as very safe....never had a problem. Sorry about the pen. As far as the check out I think you misunderstood my text conveying "We hope you enjoyed your stay and check out time is 11 am and ordinarily we would offer for you to stay longer to stay in the Cabin but we have guests arriving ..so you are welcome to park at the barn and enjoy the property hike or boat etc.." Bottom line we are very sorry you were disappointed with your stay at Rippling Waters...as you can see from our many excellent reviews our guests are very happy and look forward to their next visit and we have many returning guests. All of your concerns could have been easily remedied with simple communication....Tom and I really wished you had communicated your concerns while you were here so we could have remedied them immediately.
