About this property
Luxury CDA downtown Fernan lakefront retreat dock teepee spa sauna game room
Find yourself in north Idaho paradise at this upscale, stylish lakefront home. Located on the sizeable 423 acre Fernan Lake, which feeds into massive Lake Coeur d'Alene. Fernan Lake Village is a great little town, adjacent to the eastern end of downtown CDA. The best restaurants and other fun are a short walk, bike ride or drive away. Or with all the amenities found here, you may just stay in! From a chef's kitchen to canoes to the hot tub and teepee and game area - enjoy your next resort retreat! PLEASE NOTE - for now, this home is for monthly rentals only. Please inquire if you want to stay for shorter periods in the coming months, as I'm working to secure a vacation rental permit.
Stay at a home unlike nearly every other house in Coeur d'Alene. Custom built in 2002, it takes advantage of incredible north Idaho surroundings that signify you've left the hustle behind and entered into your own private Idaho. Right after you've stepped through the custom glass etched front door into the grand hall enterance, you'll know you've landed somewhere special as eclectic art and furnishings enhance your sensibilities. Love food and drink? - find a chefs kitchen with two ovens and two refrigerators, complimentary coffee and espresso station, free snacks and beverages, and most every kitchen gadget you can think of. Like catered cooking? Ask me for a referral to a great private chef. When the time comes, an oversized master bedroom with it's own fireplace and seperate tub with walk-in shower await. When it's social time, get the family and friends together on the huge cloud couch to watch your favorite entertainment on the smart TV, and later any of the room smart TV's. Like playing indoor games any time of year? Find pool, ping-pong, dome hockey and even skeeball in the game garage (new listing, pics coming soon, plus other games planned like arcade games and a golf simulator!).
Ready to go outside? I hope so, as this area is home to a huge variety of wildlife. Watch the giant Heron bird who likes to hang out on the dock occasionally, while multiple Osprey hawks hunt for fish. You may also enjoy moose sightings, not uncommon given the lake and the surrounding forest. For the ultimate sightseeing we hope you'll enjoy the fully boatable lake, which unlike Lake CDA stays calm thanks to more shallow depths, wind protection and less boats, perfect for watersports like tubing or water-skiing (if you bring or rent a boat), or take any number of the the complimentary canoes and kayaks out, or maybe just grab the pool floats and other inflatables and lounge about (season permitting.) Kiddos can enjoy the sandy beach area, and adults too!
Like outdoor games? Play volleyball or badminton on the 30x60 lawn next to the lake, or find other games like horseshoes, corn hole, tetherball, and giant jenga! Like doing something different? Spend time in the 14' Sioux Teepee, that includes a sound bowl and other Native American amenities (pictures coming soon). And enjoy the large firepit area next to it, perfect all year round for both cool summer nights and chilly winter nights (dress accordingly.) In winter the lake usually freezes over, and it's time for ice skating, hockey, ice fishing, or just wandering around in wonder exploring this beautiful area! Or maybe go for a cold plunge, then run back to the awaiting oversized 8-person hot tub! A 4 person cedar barrel steam sauna will also be going in next to the hot tub, planned for spring of 2025.
Want to explore the local area? Take our fleet of bikes out for a nice ride along the nearby Centennial Trail, and maybe head west on a short 1.5 mile ride to the downtown core. Or go east for 5 glorious miles along the northeastern shore of Lake CDA. Like exploring wilderness by car or ATVs? Head east down Fernan Lake Road to state forest just a few miles away, on up to thousands of acres of explorable area including the Fernan Saddle. Rental companies are just down the road for a number of toys, from boats to motorcycles to side by sides to snowmobiles. Traveling with trailer or RV - we have a level RV parking pad with full hookups just off the driveway that can accommodate around 30' and under sizes. This works especially well as additional vehicle parking, also for boat trailer parking.
Like to travel with furry companions? We are dog friendly, but please no untrained animals, and please message at booking to let us know more about your dog(s). There is a $85 pet fee to cover general deep cleaning after pet stays, and we do ask you to do your part and clean any pet hair and yard waste before leaving. Also no going on furniture or beds unless they use the provided pet protectors.
Consider this your next resort or retreat stay, without having to book at an actual busy noisy resort, especially when you think about needing multiple expensive rooms for larger families or groups :-). This is not just another stay at a decent house in a packed residential area- this is Fernan Lake retreat!
PLEASE NOTE - there are neighbors, and there is a public boat launch next to the home. It's closed after 10pm and very quiet at night, just be aware there may be some activity during the day. This said, Lake Fernan is not a busy lake like Lake Coeur d'alene, so you won't experience too much noise even in the peak summer season. ALSO NOTE - IN RECENT YEARS FERNAN LAKE, LIKE OTHER LOCAL SHALLOW LAKES, HAS HAD "BLUE-GREEN ALGE" BLOOMS IN PEAK SUMMER, which when occurring it's recommended not to go swimming, especially for pets. Please visit the Idaho DEQ website for further info, or send me an inquiry. In any case, Fernan Lake is not really known as a swimmers lake given it's 25' maximum depth and mostly muddy bottom with some lakeweed growth in shallow areas. I've personally swam in it many times as have my young kids, many days out of every year are perfectly fine, plus the house has a nice rocky beach approach area that stays mud-free for a few feet of depth, perfect for kids to wade in (there's even a fountain out there for playing under on hot, alge-free days.). The deepest depth at the end of the dock averages around 4', so diving isn't recommended and most swimmers will touch the muddy bottom. It's not a big deal to many, and if feet do get muddy there is an outdoor shower just above the beach. For the ultimate swimming beaches, I recommend Lake Coeur d'alene which has a mostly rocky bottom with good clear water and some sandy beaches, such as the great CDA public beach just a few miles from the house. Or possibly choose my CDA lake cabin rental for the ultimate lakeplay experience - Airbnb.com/h/cdacabin. Finally - many ongoing efforts are being made to rid Fernan Lake of any future alge outbreaks, and who knows it may be under control by summer 2025, though for now it's book at your own risk if swimming is the main reason you want to stay here in late summer. Please contact me if you have any questions about this issue, or with any other questions in general. Thanks!
