Villa Orsolini is an ancient villa from the beginning of the 19th century, purchased by the present owner's great-grandfather. The property has been recently renovated and is arranged over two floors. On the ground floor, there is the spacious and bright living room with a bed-sofa for 2 persons, and the kitchen in rustic style. On the first floor there are two bedrooms, a fireplace, a large bathroom and a small service bathroom. All the floors are tiled in terracotta and the walls are painted with originals lime colors.
Surrounded by a garden of about 1600 square meters, completely enclosed by walls, it is the ideal place for your children to play safely, and where your pets can be left free. In the gardens there are centuries-old boxwood hedges, fruit trees and large plants. You enter the property by a gate that leads into an illuminated private avenue, surrounded by box hedges.
The shadows of the trees and the typical evening breezes ensure pleasant and cool temperatures for most of the day. In addition, the thick walls of the property allow a pleasant stay even on the hottest days of summer.
Guest Access
The house has a gas central heating system, satellite TV and Internet Wi-Fi. In the living room is present a satellite television, books and guides. The kitchen is equipped with dishwasher, microwave oven, refrigerator, oven, kettle, coffee machine, and washing machine. Nearby there is a breeder of farm animals, which leaves free animals in their precincts during the day, giving a characteristic note to the surrounding environment .
The surrounding places are very beautiful and allow you to walk in complete tranquility away from traffic. A few hundred meters from the Villa start many trails that allow you to explore the nearby hills, from where you can enjoy a full view of Lucca and its plain. For those who love the bike, the owner and his wife (both fans of this sport) will be happy to give you any useful informations on beautiful circuits in the area, both for mountain bikes and normal/racing bikes. We had a very nice stay at this villa. Very peaceful and beautiful property just 10 minutes from Lucca. It made us want to come back and explore the Tuscany region. The local restaurant around the block was delicious!
Beautiful location - just a short drive to Lucca. Luciano was a very gracious and attentive host. We had a few issues with the WiFi and with a quirky door lock. (We needed a lesson on how to use a "skeleton key.") We absolutely loved the short walk to the quaint Antica Osteria di Meati - local restaurant of the hamlet of Meati.
Beautiful traditional house in small village ( be prepared to drive or walk 45 min get to Lucca centre). Fully equipped with caring owners. Has a great restaurant within walking distance, Antica Osteria.
We would stay here again!
The house is very Nice. It’s divides property but you lever see the neighbors, you only hear them. The house is located a few minutes away from Lucca. A beautiful garden where had meals (mostly diner) due to elevated temperatures during the day. I highly recommend this property

We came for the second time and everything is still great. Very friendly host, neat and tidy property, well-equipped house. Perfect place to start some trips to Lucca, Pisa, Siena, the beach... Luciano offers great tipps about restaurants, stores and places to see. He is happy when you are happy ;-)
We highly recommend the Villa Orsolini!
Our host, Luciano, was welcoming, communicative, and helpful. His historic family villa is perfectly situated — we felt miles away from anywhere, yet we were just a short bike ride away from Lucca! Everything provided a sense of tranquility — from the well-stocked kitchen to the lush gardens and the quiet grounds — we wish we could have stayed much longer! Villa Orsalini is such a treasure!

We loved, loved, loved our stay at the Villa Orsolini. The Villa is clean, bright, spacious and well equipped. The grounds and surrounding area are tranquil and picturesque. Luciano our house was very gracious and provided lots of helpful information. The local Trattoria has delicious food and is a short walk from the Villa. Such a charming place; we didn’t want to leave.

Great location. Just a short distance from Lucca but still out in the country. Luciano was responsive and helpful with many suggestions about enjoying our stay in the Lucca area. Took the train to Pisa and Florence on two separate occasions. Made many wonderful memories. Thank you Luciano!!

We spend wonderful 5 days in Villa Orsolini. It is truly lovely, the surroundings are stunning and it's very close to Lucca (5 min by car) and other beautiful places (Pisa, Livorno). There is everything you need and more in the house (even 4 bicycles!), the kitchen is very well equipped, the beds are very comfortable. There was even a bottle of wine and home made cake waiting for us when we arrived :) The owner is very nice and helpful, and our stay was really great. Thank you again Luciano :)

Bye Luciano
Beautiful villa only 2.5 miles from center of Lucca, but felt worlds away. Situated in a quiet residential neighborhood, it was conveniently placed close to local amenities (grocery store, etc.). Wonderful outdoor sitting/eating areas and local Osteria (5’ walk) was excellent (had dinner there twice in 4 days). Local church bells tolling on the hour just added to the charm of the setting! Above all, Luciano was a gracious and informative host. We would love to come back someday for another stay at Villa Osrolini!
Villa Orsolini is a beautiful and authentic Tuscan Villa. many of the original features remain. Set in the village of Meati, just 5k from the centre of Lucca. Meati feels much more remote than it actually is, although if you plan to explore a car is essential. The property owner, Luciano was very helpful and charming. The views over the surrounding countryside are beautiful and the perfect way to relax with a glass (or two) of the local wine in the evening. The local Osteria Meati is well worth a visit.

A beautiful villa with a garden retreat.
Villa Orsolini is the perfect place to escape and enjoy an Italian holiday. Luciano is a perfect host and provides everything that you will need to enjoy your stay. The apartment is a family heirloom that is immaculately clean and has all the modern conveniences for a comfortable stay.
Cook in the well stocked kitchen; enjoy espresso, Proseco, or Luciano's personal vino in the lush gardens with church bells marking the hours; take a bike ride in the countryside; explore the sights of the walled town of Lucca; it's a perfect spot!
Thank you, Luciano for sharing your home with us. We hope to return.

Thank you for your wonderful words, I'm happy when my guests appreciates my home and can spend a great stay in "Meati". I really hope to see you again in the future. Cordially Luciano.
My niece and I thoroughly enjoyed and loved staying in this home. Check-in was easy, everything was clean and the decor was charming.
The location was perfect- only about a 10 minute drive to the old walled city. We also drove to Viareggio for a beach day (super easy and inexpensive for the beach club pass), Siena, and Florence. This house was the perfect respite from busy days in very busy cities.
We were there during some pretty hot weather, and the house stayed cool enough that we were never uncomfortable.
The outdoor seating areas were lovely and the neighborhood was very quiet. If you go, please eat at the little restaurant around the corner. The food was wonderful, and the outdoor seating was lovely.
In summary, this home was so charming, had all the modern kitchen amenities, was peaceful and in a perfect location. Highly recommended.

We spent two weeks in this beautiful and typical Tuscan villa. It is located just a few minutes away from Lucca. Its closeness to the town and the quietness of Meati made the location a perfect place to relax. We were welcomed by Luciano, who was extremely helpful, generous and friendly. The house itself is exactly as seen in the pictures. It is very clean and well-equipped. Under the baldachin in the garden you can spend the day even if it is very hot, because there is a slight wind. There is a lot of natural shade and different areas for the kids to play. There are four bikes which can be used to explore the neighbourhood. All in all, we can fully recommend the place and would undoubtedly choose this place again!

Paradise in Tuscany
We are a family of four, two adults and two children. We stayed in Villa Orsolini for 9 days and would certainly have liked to stay longer. Luciano was an excellent host and did everything to make our stay a wonderful experience. He was very helpful and had many excellent suggestions for activities, such as beaches, sightseeing, restaurants etc.
The house is beautiful and plenty of space, everything is very clean and comfortable. The garden is absolutely wonderful and we had a lot of nice meals and "aperativos" in the garden.
We really loved the location of Villa Orsolini, it is only five minutes away from Lucca by car and around 20 minutes on bikes (which Luciano provided for us). Biking in Lucca and on the surrounding walls is something we highly recommend. The surrounding area is peaceful and extremely beautiful.
Many thanks for a wonderful holiday in Villa Orsolini! We really hope to be back very soon.
We stayed at Villa Orsolini with another couple for 4 nights. It is everything an Italian villa should be. The grounds are beautifully landscaped. The outdoor dining area was a welcome change from indoor dining. The home was decorated with many beautiful antiques, The kitchen was well equipped. The beds were very comfortable. The only drawback was the description on the villa. It says that there is one full bath and one half bath. That is incorrect. There is only one full bath. We were disappointed, as that was a feature that we were looking for. Two bathrooms. The location is charming. The Italian countryside provided many gorgeous walks, Yet we were only about 10 minutes to the Lucca wall and city center. All in all we enjoyed our stay at the villa, and would recommend it to anyone who loves the countryside!

Hi Jeffrey
Thanks for your review.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience you had in the small bathroom but I had to close it during the summer due to a problem that was difficult to resolve. I'm waiting for the apartment to close in the autumn to be able to restore it.
Only a short car ride from Lucca, this home is comfortable, well-appointed and beautiful. Luciano is one of the best hosts we’ve met in 20 years of renting holiday homes. He escorted us to the property, explained how everything worked and was quick to answer any questions we had. He even made a special trip to us to make an adjustment to the Wi-Fi. He checked in with us on WhatsApp periodically to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and that everything was ok. We really appreciated that. He has put together pages of notes on the property and the surrounding areas. Good restaurant recommendations, too. One helpful app that he describes is EasyPark. It was a lifesaver for the many trips we made inside the walls of Lucca. Once your car is entered into the system the software does the rest and you don’t need to come up with cash to pay for parking. He also has good information on his website.
We prepared several nice meals and ate outside at the table under the trees. The kitchen had everything we needed. The neighborhood is quiet and we took several walks to an interesting church close by. We both have arthritic knees so we used the front stairs rather than the spiral staircase from the living room, which is spacious and comfortable.
We would gladly return to this property as it was perfect for us and Luciano was such a gracious and helpful host.
