Charming Lucca

We stayed in Lucca for two nights and LOVED this location. Very comfortable apartment. Bedrooms and bathrooms came well equipped. Living space is lovely. Easy to rent bikes and ride/walk the wall. Lots of local places to shop for food, farmacy, drinks and shopping just steps from the front door. Easy and quick communication with Gianluca, and Isabella. We needed a doctor for our daughter one night, and he helped us find one. Would stay here again if we come back to this region. 10 out of 10 for us!

Best apartment and location inside the Lucca walls

Perfect apartment in every way. Our host Giana Luca treated us like royalty. The apartment is even more beautiful and functional than pictured. The location is wonderful. Short walk to access the top of the Wall for walking and biking. EZ & picturesque walk to train station for day trips to Pisa and Florence. Or get a taxi to the train from the nearby Piazza Santa Maria taxi stand. Minutes from the amphitheater for lunch or dinner. Pleasant and fun walks to historic sites, museums and shopping -- all within 10 minutes. Stay here to get the most of your stay in Lucca.

Lucca is lovely

Gianluca's property, on the third level, is prefectly located, just off the Piazza Santa Maria (very close to the porto in the wall) and at the top of Via Fillungo (the 'High Street' with lots of shops & cafés). The apartment is gorgeous, exactly as the photos show, 2 good bedrooms with good mattresses, each with a private bathroom (shower). The main room had a good table & chairs for sharing meals and doing work (!). The kitchen was well equiped. When the toaster didn't work, Gianluca delivered a brand new one within hours. He was a wonderful host. Grazie Gianluca! We will recommend your apartment and your town to all our friends!

Lucca storica

Beautiful apartment and excellent location with easy access to the ancient wall, charming historical center and cobblestone streets, and superb dining. Gianluca was an amazing, easygoing host who communicated promptly and clearly before our arrival. He greeted us in the square and showed us around the apartment. The apartment is ample with two bedrooms and three bathrooms. It was well equipped, but we barely used the kitchen since we splurged on local cuisine. Our favorite little store is right across the street and features delicious cheeses, meats and prepared Italian delicacies, like marinated artichokes and homemade pastas. The apartment itself involves two flights of stairs to the front door, but we loved being up over the street so we could take in the local scene. The windows provided good sound proofing. I highly recommend this place!

A Layer Cake of History

We live in a contemporary highrise neighborhood in Dallas, Texas. So, when we chose an apartment in Lucca, we wanted a slice of history added to the property. Gianluca provides an entire layer cake of history dating back 1,000 years. The 19th century building with exposed.beams and batten board windows, has be totally update with 21 st century amenities. Butswaths of plaster work has been artfully removed, revealing the foot thick walls built of recycled masonry including Roman bricks. The wonderful breakfast nook is built against the 11th century Porta di Borghi medieval.city.wall with a section of the granite arch exposed. The location is not only historical, but convenient to shops,.five star restaurants (Carbone and Osteria Miranda), bars, markets, bike rental and the wall. Every comfor and detail is provided, and communication with Gianluca was flawless. Look no further. This apartment will be an important aspect of your stay in lovely Lucca.

This is a beautiful property, very reasonably priced and with the kindest and most communicative owners- Gianluca and Isabella! We stayed there for 2 weeks this summer. The apartment is very centrally located on the most famous street in Lucca with many restaurants and shops within the same block. All the major sights of Lucca are within walking distance. There is a small market (Alimentari) across the street from the apartment which is very convenient. The apartment has been newly remodeled and is super clean, tastefully designed and comfortable. The living room is beautiful and well-lit with a comfortable sofa-bed, and a big TV with access to Netflix and Amazon. There are 2 spacious bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms with beautiful, hand-painted, ceramic tiles, each with a shower. There is a nice little kitchen with a fridge, microwave, dishwasher, coffeemaker, etc. - truly a home away from home! From the moment Gianluca met us at the Piazza Sta. Maria and showed us the place, he was most helpful and accommodating. If we ever return to Lucca, we would definitely stay there again. We would absolutely recommend this place for anyone considering visiting the amazing city of Lucca!

Everything was perfect. We were met at a piazza near the apartment by Isabella and escorted to the property. She helped us bring our luggage up the stairs and showed us how everything worked. A bottle of wine was waiting for us. Everything was very clean and the layout was great. The apartment is very spacious and suited our needs. The apartment is located near the wall that encircles the city center and it was delightful to stroll along the top of the wall in the evening. It is also close to coffee and wine bars and especially, great restaurants. Gianluca is a wonderful host and did everything to make our stay an exceptional experience. We had planned to stay at Apartment Via Fillungo several years ago but we had to cancel because of Covid. We are so pleased to finally come to Lucca and stay with Gianluca.

Outstanding hosts, Gianluca and Isabella ensured, despite our very late arrival, that we were given a lovely welcome and a thorough introduction to the property. The accommodation is superb and maintained to a very high standard. It is perfect for enjoying the delights of Lucca, with cafés, and food stores literally right outside your front door, as well as being in close proximity to the wall from where you can start to explore this wonderful place. Perfect Weekend in a Medieval City

This is a perfect location, spacious and clean. Gian Luca took us directly to the apartment just around the corner from the main Piazza. It is up a flight of stone stairs, and may have originally been in a medieval tower. This pristine apartment is modern with historical highlights in the wood ceiling beams and some exposed walls. It was very practical for 4 people (2 couples or 4 friends or family.) There are 3 full modern bathrooms and the 2 king beds are firm and comfortable. Towels are plenty and bath soap/shampoo for your convenience. Kitchen amenities for coffee, basic cooking and preparing lunch were adequate. The internet connection was clear. On the night we stayed watching the new Pope's speech, we used the TV. We had trouble logging in but Gian Luca was very prompt in responding and answered our questions immediately.Parking is a small challenge but we managed to find a space only 4 blocks away. We met up with Gian Luca at the Santa Maria Gate. We suggest be more specific and meet at Momus Cafe' in Santa Maria Piazza. This way you could order a coffee, use the WC and wait at a chair and table. This location is ideal for touring the city of Lucca. The Roman Amphitheater is 2 minutes away. Shopping on Via Fillungo has local artisans of leather, silks (Zazzi store) and other souvenir places. The churches are very close and of course, you must attempt to walk the entire Le Mura (the city walls). We will stay here again when we return to Lucca!

Lucca visit

The property was very nice. 2 bedroom, 2 bath. A lovely kitchen. The apartment is located in a busy area, but the area quiets down after 10pm. Our host showed us how to operate the heating/a/c systems. Also showed us where to park for free, which is about a 20 minute walk. The walled city is amazing. It is about a 2.5 mile walk around the city with amazing views. We enjoyed Lucca.

Perfect location inside the walls!

We loved this apartment and Lucca itself. We rented bikes twice and rode around the wall, climbed the Guinigi tower, and visited the cathedral, and this apartment was convenient to it all. We had a few rainy days and the apartment heating system worked great. Gianluca was a great host and helped with getting us parking outside the walls (ZTL), as well as being very responsive to our requests. We would definitely stay here again if we came back to Lucca. Thanks Gianluca!

Superb hosts, lovely apartment, ideal location

Gianluca and his wife truly deserve a rating of 10 with many pluses added on. Gianluca does the actual management of the apartment. He is animated, friendly, and dedicated to making his guests comfortable and taking care of every need. He goes far beyond the norm as a host and is extraordinarily prompt in responding to every question and need. He is generous and compassionate. While staying in the apartment, I caught a virus and was suffering from another ailment. I texted him at 10 pm to ask where I could find a pharmacy to buy medicine that my doctor in the U.S. had prescribed for me. He told me that he would get it that evening. It was raining hard with extremely strong winds, and I told him that it was too dangerous to go out then. He responded that it wasn’t a problem, and less than an hour later he knocked on the door and handed me the medicine. When my health issue continued, he consulted his doctor who gave him a recommendation for a private pay doctor. Gianluca not only set up the appointment, but picked me up, drove me there, stayed with me when I discussed my issue with the doctor, and drove me back to the apartment. Then he had to rush home to get something to eat and drive 40 minutes to his full time job. Gianluca and Isabella merit the highest ratings possible for hosts. The apartment is well located, comfortable, well appointed, and a great value while staying in splendid Lucca.
