This house is perfectly equipped for an stress-free beach getaway, with beach towels, chairs, umbrellas and other equipment. We never unpacked the tent we brought. We also appreciated the kitchen amenities, which included both a traditional coffee maker and a Keurig. (I was grateful for the array of spices when I realized I had forgotten to pack some). The home appears to be in the midst of minor post storm repairs but we found it comfortable for a group of 10 adults and loved the easy access to the beach. It was a nice bonus to have the pool to enjoy while grilling and after the beach.

We traveled with our blended family of 7. Kids are 14-25 yeas old. The house and the property managers were fantastic. There was a lot of attention to detail with how the house was stocked- from full kitchen and cooking spices to plenty of umbrellas, beach towels and chairs. The views were stunning. The area has so much natural beauty and wildlife. We have travelled all over Florida and will definitely do this trip again. Highly recommend the Sundancer house and the whole experience.

We loved thos trip!

The house is perfectly situated super close to the beach and the views for both sunset and sunrise were great! The pool was a really nice plus. The house was very comfortable, but we really enjoyed all of the outdoor space. This was a great home for a family trip and we would definitely come back.

Paradise in North Captiva

Wonderful stay in North Captiva. House was perfect for family of 10. Cant beat the outdoor living space from screened in porches (a must have), pool and decks! Proximity to beach makes it the perfect location. Will definitely be back.

Fun getaway

Both the property manager and VRBO host were excellent to work with and we had an amazing time on the island. The private walk way to the pristine beach is beautiful. We had adults and young children and the space functioned very well for all of us. So many beach chairs, outdoor spaces, and amenities.

North Captiva Visit

We had four members of my extended family visit this comfortable house. From the pool to the watch tower it served us quite well. A longer stay would have been nice but life gets in the way.

Thanksgiving was Laura's 80th birthday

The property was well laid out and well and thoughtfully equipped with all ages in mind. Management was very responsive, especially given the holiday. Plenty of spaces to be together and to be private. We had a blast.

Perfect location

Sundancer is a wonderful house with the perfect view on the island for sunsets. The house comfortably fit 6 of us, two parents with 4 kids ranging in age from 16 to 22. The kitchen was very well stocked. The short walk to the beach down the quaint path was lovely. There are plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas. Communication from beginning to end was smooth and quick.

Cool pool and cool AC for those hot summer days!!

We have stayed at many different houses on the island this this one is for sure one of my favorites. The kitchen had all the gadgets including an ice maker that came in very handy. Definitely the coldest AC on the island! The heated pool also had cooling feature which we really appreciated cooling down after those long hot summer days. The property management staff was on point. Anytime we needed something fixed or addressed they were attentive and quick. Very happy with our stay overall. The only extra thing that would have been nice to have would have been bikes for the tweens to get around the island on their own.

Great family vacation!

We stayed at Sundancer for 10 days over the Christmas/New Years break. House was clean, well furnished, and comfortable for our group of 9 (6 adults/3 kids). The house has great screened in porches on each level, amazing views of the ocean, and a fun beach bar where we spent several nights enjoying music and happy hour. We loved the heated pool, close and private access to the beach, and outdoor shower. Lots of lounge chairs and spaces to sit for those not wanting to get into the pool. Property management (Shally’s Seashells) was great; always checking in if we needed anything, any minor issues/questions we had and all in a timely and quick manner! Would rent this house and any house managed by Sean and Ally at Shally’s Seashells.

Christmas at North Captiva

We had a great time at the property. We have stayed at North Captiva several times, but this is the first time we have stayed at this home. The property management was very helpful in getting us into the house under adverse weather and helping us get settled. The house was very close to the beach Had a simple floor plan and excellent views of the water. The only deficiencies we experienced were a non-operational refrigerator on the ground floor due to recent flooding. Otherwise it was a fantastic property for our family. We look forward to returning again soon.

Overall, the stay was excellent. Awesome location on the island, well appointed house, and plenty of room. Couple of issues to mention for the owners/property management team: 1. Be sure to check the pool area (water level, umbrellas and deck/furniture condition). When we arrived, the water level was just below the skimmer (pump motor was not happy) and we needed to add water daily to keep at an appropriate skimmer level. There was a large sun umbrella opened and sitting at the bottom of the pool, and deck furniture and area around the pool needed cleaned. 2. There are 2 Keurig coffee makers...and you have to use BOTH to make your coffee. One machine to puncture the k-cup (machine won't power on) and the other machine to brew the coffee (puncture needle is broken).3. Blender situation...there are 2 base units and 1 upper unit. None of them matched up so no smoothies or mixed drinks.4. Golf carts should be cleaned up before each guest visit. Yes, they get dusty and dirty driving around and especially when it rains but let's start off right. Didn't appreciate having to clean out the previous visitors trash and leftovers. 5. Proximity to beach was awesome i.e. private pathway and area. Definitely needs to be trimmed/cleared/maintained better.6. Should mention the house is under repair/improvements - building materials, workers items and some trash laying about.The Owners and Support Team communicate excellently and the logistics out/back were seamless - 5 Stars!

Quiet Island Getaway

North Captiva is a quiet island away from it all. It was a nice getaway with my family to detach from the stress of every day. The house was perfect for 11 of us. The private pool was a lot of fun for the kids. The view is beautiful and taking a quiet nap on the hammock with the island breeze was just what I needed. North Captiva is still recovering from the hurricane and has a lot of debris and construction that is not safe for the little ones to run around, but fine with adult supervision. You need to either pack all your food foe the week and deal with transporting it or get Publix delivery or shop at Mangos Convenience Store which is expensive. Choose the lesser of 2 evils. We had a nice time at the house and always received a quick response with questions. We rented a boat for the day and enjoyed exploring, shelling and stopping off at Cabbage Key for some drinks.

Sulfur water

disappointed . For the price not as clean as it should have been.Master bath tiny and shower water temperature could not be adjusted . Water smelled like rotten eggs.First level shower has no water drain .I have discarded gas grills that were in cleaner and in better working condition. The pool was not monitored carefully for chemicals and turned cloudy. I had to call them to come and clean the filter and add chlorine. Roads and trails poorly maintained. Rough

Great Place, Verify Your Groceries

The Sundancer property is fantastic, as is the beach to which it has access. We especially enjoyed morning coffee with the sunrise on the widow's watch atop the house. The Tortuga staff works hard and is very friendly. We did have some issues with requested groceries not showing up, with no communication that something wasn't available or wasn't purchased. An effort to replace things wasn't entirely successful. To be fair, however, one of the staff was out with illness during our stay, which I'm sure impacted their ability to handle things. Also, though one can get unlimited kayak rental for a $75 fee (for all your guest for the whole time of your stay), it's a little misleading to see a nice kayak in front of the property if none are included. Until days before our trip, I had assumed I'd have one right on property to take out. But these are just things to be aware of in advance. It's a fine house, and Mindy and the Tortuga staff are very nice. If you're going to North Captiva, it's a fine place to stay.

All of the grocery delivery services did have to deal with some shortages from local grocery stores during covid, but luckily that was temporary and businesses seem to be at full supply again. We are glad you were able to take advantage of our VIP Island Club membership which gives you unlimited use of kayaks, bicycles and pools, such a great amenity on the island!

Family Vacation

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay on North Captiva. The property is a very short walk to the beach through a private walkway, is surrounded by screened in porches and has a rooftop lookout with beautiful views. Sean and Ally were responsive and helpful. We’d recommend planning each meal in advance and making sure you order enough groceries (Ally was helpful when we found our order was missing a few items.) Positives: ⁃ Lots of great outdoor seating in the screened in porch area and the pool. We spent a lot of time here. ⁃ The pool was heated and allowed us to still use even on cooler days. ⁃ The property’s location is excellent and we appreciated the quick walk to the beach. ⁃ The golf carts provided were a fun mode of transportation. ⁃ We enjoyed a few sunsets from the rooftop lookout. ⁃ Responsive team. Few things that could be improved: ⁃ We spent a chunk of our first morning here cleaning to keep ants away (the previous renters must have had a spill on the area rug.) The ants were a persistent problem throughout our stay. We found ourselves cleaning frequently. ⁃ Wood stairs can get slippery (especially for pets), wasn’t a major issue but something to note. ⁃ The home is a bit dated, but could be improved with some minor updates. ⁃ During our stay, the island was instructed to take shelter due to dangerous weather. We would recommend including instructions in the information book provided as we were unsure of the safest place in the home to weather the storm.

We really enjoyed our stay at Sundancer. This was our first time visiting the island, and my family and I absolutely loved it. The location is fantastic-just a short walk to the beach, making it easy to enjoy the island whenever we wanted. The house was very comfortable and relaxing. We also loved the rooftop deck; the views from up there were beautiful and a real highlight of the stay. It was also great that the property is pet-friendly, as we were able to bring our dogs along. The golf carts were a great addition and made getting around the island convenient and fun.There are just a few things that, with a little attention, would make this property even better. Some sections of the screened porch surrounding the house were missing screens, which allowed mosquitoes to become an issue. The screened lanai and outdoor furniture could also benefit from a deep cleaning, as there were spider webs and it appeared they hadn’t been cleaned in a while. Inside the home, a more thorough deep cleaning between guests would also be appreciated we noticed quite a few flies when we first arrived.The grill wasn’t in the best condition when we arrived, but the host replaced it with a new one before we left. The only minor issue was that there wasn’t much propane left(we thought propane was included) so we had to finish cooking our meal in the oven. Overall, these were minor maintenance and housekeeping issues that didn’t take away from a wonderful vacation. We’d definitely stay here again.

Beautiful property & island

Traveling as a family of 8. Ages 4-50+ we had a wonderful time. The house was a perfect size for us. Beach exactly 100 steps (my son and I counted). Our first time on North Captiva and we all agreed we’d go back! Secluded but able to order same-day groceries/drinks from Dumpling app. Lots of towels!

Perfect Island Escape

The Sundancer was just perfect for our family of 11. We certainly enjoyed our stay, amazing views, such a beautiful home. Prompt response from property management for unforeseen issues. The dryer stopped working and we had another in a day and a half. In the meantime, they had offered laundry service, great follow up! We had Chef Billy 3 nights, would not recommend. First night great, then issues with forgetting items, changing times. Would recommend when having grocery shopping done and delivered, ensure you obtain receipt at the time. Over the Waterfront restaurant was fabulous. Nick B’s and Mangos great food and so much fun! Looking forward to returning
