About this property

Riverside Cabin with Sauna & Fire Pit

Summary:

For couples and small groups seeking quiet time in nature without sacrificing design or comfort. This thoughtfully renovated 2-bed, 1-bath cabin sits on Halfway Brook in the southern Catskills (2 hours from NYC), offering a rare combination: architect-designed interiors, a riverfront sauna, and direct access to 600 acres of forest. Work from home, entertain friends at the firepit, or simply unwind in the creek sauna—all within a 90-minute radius of the city.

Nearby towns: Barryville (3 min), Narrowsburg (25 min), Forestburgh (30 min)

The Space:

Little River has been featured on Cabin Porn and GQ and was one of Airbnb's top ten most-liked homes on Instagram in 2023.

This 2-bed, 1-bath log cabin was renovated by its owner, a set designer and architect, who brought mid-century furniture and modern systems into rustic log spaces. The result: high ceilings, natural light, quality details (Casper mattresses, All-Clad cookware, induction range), and outdoor delights that feel intentional, not accidental.

Inside: wood-burning fireplace, full bar/streaming room, kitchen equipped for cooking. Outside: riverfront sauna, creek-side dining table, fire pit, and direct access to the surrounding forest. The 2-acre property backs onto 600 acres of privately owned forest—perfect for morning hikes before coffee.

As you venture outside you'll discover a world of outdoor delights, where the beauty of nature surrounds you at every turn. Immerse yourself in the tranquility of the waterfront setting, where a riverfront sauna and waterfront hammock beckon you to unwind and rejuvenate. Indulge in al fresco dining at the long table set beside the creek, illuminated by hanging lights that cast a magical glow over your meal. And for those who love to entertain, a fire pit, propane grill, and bocce set await, promising endless hours of fun and laughter under the stars.

As you soak in the sights and sounds of the surrounding wilderness, you'll be enchanted by the symphony of the nearby river, which creates a mesmerizing soundscape that envelops the cabin and its two acres of lush landscape. With 600 acres of privately owned forest as your backyard, adventure awaits right outside your door, inviting you to explore and reconnect with nature at your leisure.

Experience the epitome of comfort and luxury in this thoughtfully curated Catskills retreat, where every detail has been carefully considered to ensure a truly unforgettable stay.

Guest Access:

You'll have full access to the entire space and our 2-acre property. We just ask that you respect the private half of the basement.

NOTE: While children are welcome, please note that there is a creek near the property. Children should be closely supervised at all times when outdoors.

The Neighborhood:

Just 2 hours from NYC and 2.5 from Philly, this creekside log cabin sits on 2 acres along a backcountry highway, and it's backed up to many more acres of forest. The abundance of wildlife is amazing. Bears, fireflies, eagles, trout, mushrooms, and much more. We’re also just 5 minutes from the local grocery store, the Saturday farmer’s market, and the Delaware waterfront for canoeing and rafting trips. We’re 20 minutes from incredible hikes, swimming holes, and a few of our favorite restaurants.

Getting Around:

Our driveway has a bit of an incline, and in wintery conditions, you'll need 4WD to access the cabin, even after it gets plowed. Unfortunately, it may not be possible to get a non-4WD vehicle out of the driveway without a tow. Additionally, the winding mountain roads are much safer with 4WD.

Other Things to Note:

Our driveway has a bit of an incline, and in wintery conditions, you'll need AWD/4WD to access the cabin, even after it gets plowed. Unfortunately, it may not be possible to get a non-4WD vehicle out of the driveway without a tow.

Cute cabin in woods

The pictures speak for themselves. Kids loved playing in the stream. It is close to the highway. But it’s not a very busy road.
