This spacious 3 bedroom 3.5 bath (each bedroom with attached full bath) home is situated in a private, wooded setting on the edge of Southwest Harbor's bustling village. All on one level, it offers sophisticated yet comfortable furnishings in an open floor plan design. A cozy sun room extends the space and leads to a lovely wrap around deck. It’s also close to several Acadia National Park access points. Note: this home offers extra wide doorways accommodating those with mobility issues (there are 3 small steps to access the front door, no wheelchair ramp available to enter home).

All on one level, the home features an open floor plan with high ceilings and interesting architectural details. The cheerful and well-applianced kitchen offers a center island with prep sink, and a generously sized pantry. The kitchen opens to a sunny breakfast area and table. The adjacent living room offers plenty of seating on overstuffed, leather furnishings and a large, flat screen TV. From the breakfast area access the screened-in sun room which is set with lots of casual furniture including a full-size futon/sleeper. For formal dinner gatherings there is a separate and very spacious dining room. The master bedroom suite is spacious and inviting. It offers a queen bed and en suite bath with an enormous Jacuzzi tub and separate shower. The second bedroom is set with a queen bed and has an en suite bath with tub and shower. The third bedroom offers a set of twin beds and an en suite full bath with tub and shower as well. The sun room has a full size futon and opens up to the wrap-around back deck with grill and outdoor furnishing (4 chairs). Finishing out the space is a laundry room and a half bath. There is no garage access for tenant use.

PLEASE READ:

1. Owner's and their dog reside in the apartment above the garage which has a separate entrance and no shared spaces. Other than yard/garden maintenance, outdoor space will not be used by owners to ensure the privacy of tenants during their stay.

2. We do accept well-behaved pets (no more than 2 pets). There is a $200 pet fee PER ANIMAL. Please do not allow animals on beds. **Please let us know if you are bringing a pet**

3. There is no cable TV. The Television is a smart TV- guests will need to log into their streaming accounts.

4 The kitchen is fully stocked with appliances, cleaning supplies, dish washing and laundry detergent, & coffee/coffee filters. Guests will provide their own food. Linens/towels are also provided.

5. Toilet paper & paper towels- we leave a few extra rolls to get guests started. It’s the guest’s responsibility to purchase more if you run out.

6. There is a small group of chickens on the property that occasionally free range however we do keep them in their coop when guests bring a dog and at guest request.

7. Maximum of 6 overnight guests.

8. Wood stove in living room is not for guest use.

9. NO PARTIES.

Relaxing and beautiful property!

We especially loved the beautiful outdoor space in back where we spent our early morning hours enjoying some coffee and quiet time with the birds and squirrels! The house was lovely, and beds luxuriously comfy. Highly recommend this property!

Amazing location in Acadia

This house was perfect for our family trip to Acadia. The set up worked really well and it was both secluded and convenient to all that the park has to offer. Highly recommend.

The house was very roomy and comfortable. Lots of space for everyone. Having a bathroom in each bedroom is a benefit. Great access to all of Mt. Desert Island.

Superb!

My husband and I spent an idyllic few days at this immaculate and roomy home. We agreed that it's one of the best rentals we've experienced. The house had absolutely everything we needed and the decor was lovely. Sarah and Paul could not have been kinder or more responsive. We'd love to stay here again.

Wonderful stay!

Was a perfect home for our family of four (two teens different genders). All bedrooms were masters, great open space and other spaces perfect for yoga and reading. The home was lovely and the beds were very comfortable. We loved watching the free range chickens roam the yard and the owners were very respectful of our privacy. The area was very quite but still convenient to get to some great hikes in the park and Southwest Harbor.

Excellent property.

Property is exactly as described. A professionally run property that was clean, well stocked, comfortable. Perfect base for my families adventures into Acadia. Hosts are responsive, friendly, respectful of privacy. You get the feeling of isolation but very close to southwest harbor and everything’s you would need to a trip to Acadia. 10/10 would recommend this property.

Lovely house. Clean like new! Sarah and Paul made sure everything in the house was available down to having a larger and smaller recliner in the living room. There was even a bottle of wine welcoming us! We absolutely loved this place and will return. Already referred our close friends.

Spacious very clean and comfy house. Great kitchen. Owners very friendly and hospitable. Our dog was welcome too. We loved MDI in November. Barely a tourist to be seen. We were very fortunate with sunny weather. Hiking ability choices. Lots of cafes open. Some restaurants. Would enjoy staying here again.

Our new favorite place in SW Harbor

We have been renting in SW Harbor for many years and Sarah & Paul’s home was perfect for us. Their house was beautiful, spacious and in an ideal location. There was a beautiful backyard and sun room where we spent a lot of time birdwatching. The house was very private. The kitchen was very well-appointed as were the bedrooms and bathrooms. The beds were extremely comfortable. We could walk into town from the house. It was a very restful vacation and we would stay here again and again. Sarah and Paul were very responsive with questions. Thank you again.

We had a great stay here! It is large, clean, and very comfortable. Location near Southwest Harbor is great for those wishing for a quieter retreat. The town has everything you need (restaurants, lobster pier, cute shops, ice cream, groceries) without the tourist crowds. Hosts were helpful with all our questions!

We are a group of 4 adults that visited Maine for a week of photography, sight seeing, and eating. This house was a perfect base for us, as it got us out of the congestion in Bar Harbor without having to drive too far away. We had fun dining and shopping in Southwest Harbor and visiting various sites in Acadia Natl Park. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. They provided answers to all of our questions. We would absolutely return to this house for any future trips in the area.

Great house and property

Our group very much enjoyed our stay. The house is beautiful and well-kept, and there is plenty of room inside and outside (including a large back deck and yard) for a small or large group to relax. The hosts Sarah and Paul were warm and welcoming. I highly recommend this property and would happily stay again on our next visit to Mt. Desert Island.

Peaceful, spacious and clean --- would stay again

This was my family's first trip to Maine and our first extended-stay experience with Vrbo. We loved it. We had four adults (two of them seniors) and two young children. We had a ton of space both inside and outside. This ranch style house has a very sensible floor plan. The open kitchen/family area leading out to the backyard has tall ceilings with skylights. This area is not walkable to any shops or restaurants. We did daily trips to the various harbors, trails, beaches. We are glad we picked this area instead of the busier regions of the island. Very peaceful and relaxing. The hosts are very accommodating and responsive.

"The big house"

It was a wonderful visit. My wife and I stayed with our daughter, son-in-law and two grandkids. When our 3 year old grandson was asked about his favorite part of the trip, he replied "the big house." He loved staying there. This house is conviently located in Southwest Harbor. I liked being away from busy Bar Harbor. Acadia has a lot of great activities nearby: Wonderland Trail, Ship Harbor, Flying Mountain, Seawall, Bass Harbor. My granddaughter loved watching the birds visit the birdfeeder. She used the bird book in the sunroom to look up the various birds that came by. The hosts were great. They left us a bottle of wine and communicated well. It couldn't have been better. I highly recommend staying here.

Amazing!

This house was everything I could have asked for and more! It was in a lovely, safe neighborhood. It was clean and had all the amenities we needed. The hosts gave clear instructions and were available if needed. For 6 adults and a few dogs, the house had places to spread out (sun room, nook off of the master bedroom, each couple got their own bathroom) as well as to come together for “family” dinner or game nights (big dining table and living room). We cooked a lot of our meals and had everything we needed in the kitchen. Absolutely perfect vacation!

Why they chose this property

Our home is located on what locals call "The Quietside"--not in the hustle bustle of Bar Harbor tourism but just a short drive away. It's close to various access points to Acadia National Park such as Long Pond (1 mile away), Echo Lake (short 3 minute drive), Bass Harbor Head Light House and Seawall, to name a few. The town of Southwest Harbor also has many restaurants and some cute little shops. After a long day of adventure and/or shopping that the Island has to offer, it's lovely to come home to a calm, relaxing environment and sit in the sun room with a cup of coffee to enjoy the wild life in the back yard.
