Mediterranean villa with pool and magnificent sea views and walks

Thanks for your lovely review - so glad you enjoyed the villa. As you say Cerbere is a very tranquil village although there are plenty of day time activities available.including kyaking and diving with the local diving school. The transport system however gives you easy access to all the villages along the Cote Vermeille with plenty of activity and night life for teenagers in Banyuls and Argeles. We are delighted to report that the crane in view has now been removed and the building has been completed leaving beautiful views of the sea and the coastline. Cerbere is a small, traditional, french fishing village with a handful of restaurants and bars and a small beach and harbour. Other resorts along the coast are larger and busier - they are easily reached by car or train and are well worth a visit - Banyuls, Portes Vendres for its beautiful harbour and boats, Collioure for its medieval architecture and Argeles for its expanisve beaches. The drive itself along the Cote Vermeille is stunning. In the other direction, into Spain, there is the small market town of Portbou with its street market and restaurants. Once again the coast road winds around the mountainside and the views are magnificent. The fourth bedroom has no windows and is accessed from the third bedroom and ensuite making it ideal and safe for young children. There are bunk beds in this room. As ever a car makes life much easier.......

We are delighted you enjoyed your holiday in Cerbere. Guests often comment on how well equipped the kitchen is - my husband loves to cook! The two diving schools in the village have very good reputations and the local area is a protected zone for divers. The restaurants in Cerbere serve wonderful local food - we often walk down to eat there. Our property as you say is on a hill on the village outskirts which gives us spectacular views and also a tranquil area. Fortunately there is a small local bus that will drive you back up the hill for free if you get the timetable right! Thanks once again for your kind comments.

The villa is situated on a hill on the outskirts of the village which is what gives us the spectacular views we have. We regularly walk down to the village and back but the return is undoubtedly challenging on foot which is why we recommend a car. I believe it does say this in the narrative. Glad you enjoyed your holiday overall though.

I’m glad you enjoyed your stay in our villa in cerbere. We did discuss the pool heating and I did explain that it was a mere oversight on the part of our pool guy that the pool heating was not switched on. He is incredibly busy at this time of year and this is the only time this has happened. You did not deal with “the lady from the agency” you dealt with me I am the owner!

Marcher depuis la maison autour du vignoble local ou le long du sentier côtier est l’une de nos journées préférées. On dirait que vous avez trouvé beaucoup de choses à faire pour les enfants. There are four lovely restaurants in Cerbere - our personal favourite is the Hotel Dorade which is right in the centre of the village. We always walk down and back when we eat there - Google Maps tells me this property is 2 kms from our house so it is incorrect to state that the amenities are 5 kms away unless of course you are referring to our neighbouring village Banyuls sur Mer which is bigger and livelier than Cerbere. There are also a Casino supermarket, two boulangeries, a bank, a gift shop and fast food outlets as well as two diving schools in Cerebere, We state very clearly in our property description that the fourth room is linked to the third bedroom via a wet room. It has bunk beds and is suitable only for children - perhaps you didn't read this. Everyone who has stayed at our house comments on how well equipped it is - a true home from home. I understand the only thing you were unable to find in the kitchen was a salad box - we do not use these widely in the UK - but I have of course now bought one. The property description also says that the air conditioning is in the three bedrooms downstairs. With huge windows upstairs in the lounge/diner we do not feel air conditioning is necessary upstairs. You are the only guest to have only given us 2 stars.

Equally the lively resorts of the Cote Vermeille are only a short drive away if you are looking for a night out. Glad you enjoyed your holiday.

Nous ne sommes pas tout à fait sûrs de ce que vous entendez par l’altitude. La villa se trouve sur une colline à environ 100 mètres au-dessus du niveau de la mer, ce qui nous donne une vue spectaculaire à 180 degrés sur la mer. Vous êtes le premier invité à commenter la literie mais nous allons certainement revoir cela pendant la saison hivernale.

Nous avons maintenant changé les matelas qui suscitaient des inquiétudes. Les nouveaux matelas ont une garantie de fabricant de 10 ans, nous sommes donc confiants qu’ils seront très confortables.

Nous aimons aussi la région - elle a tellement de variété de choses à faire, que vous aimiez marcher, faire du vélo, de la plongée, manger et boire ou simplement vous asseoir sur l’une des nombreuses belles plages. Thank you for your comments and I'm pleased to hear you loved the location and the house. During the last year we have had to deal not only with the COVID virus problems but also a change in house manager after 8 years. I am delighted that Stephanie was really helpful - I understand that she bought you new kitchen equipment as soon as you asked. Normally we would visit the house up to four times a year to ensure that everything is ok and to replace anything that needs to be but with the travel restrictions we have not been able to visit since last July. We have already purchased new bedding and equipment for the house and are hoping to be able to deliver it very soon.
