About this property
Tranquil, Spacious, Family Vacation Home, Private Waterfront, 6 BR, 3.5 BA
Are you headed to Maine and looking for a home away from home? Look no further than this well-loved, memory-filled, no-frills, yet modernized cabin. Located on a secluded lot at the edge of the main drag of Long Beach neighborhoods, this location has everything you'll need for a relaxing, homey week or two where you're sure to make memories for a lifetime. For those looking to relax with a good book, you'll have private lakefront access. For the more adventurous, you'll be within an hour's drive to some of Maine's most beautiful areas.
Completely renovated in 2007, this cabin offers the unmistakably classic feel of the early 1900s with its native pine bead board combined with a the bright, clean, open feel of the new addition.
While the ground floor offers full wheelchair accessibility with a ramp off the back porch, wide hallways, and a walk-in shower with retractable seat, the two separate upstairs offer convenient children and adult wings with two bedrooms each. The master bedroom and sun room on the ground floor offer secluded sleeping space for two each with the sounds of nature and the cool night breeze right outside the window.
The open floor plan in the kitchen will surely allow the room to serve as the gathering spot for your group for both mealtimes and game time. To accompany the kitchen roomy enough to seat 12, is the adjacent outdoor, screened-in dining area that comfortable seats 12-15. These spaces easily lend themselves to large family dinners followed by laughter-filled card or game nights.
Depending on the time of year you decide to visit Sebago, the cabin's location is ideal for a variety of outdoor activities.
For visitors in warmer months, the cabin's proximity to Sebago Lake is perfect. From the screened-in front porch, you can catch a glimpse of the private dock and swim area and the breath-taking sunrise while sipping your morning coffee. (We'd recommend adding a splash of local Smiling Hills Farm flavored milk.) Across the street you'll find a lake adventure for everyone. This rental property comes with a 40+ foot Thru-flow dock great for tanning, reading a book, lounging, napping, and is perfect for small children.
For the more adventuresome, there is a row boat, 4 kayaks and 2 SUPs. The floating raft also offers fun for all ages. Those who are water sports enthusiasts are also in luck. Long Beach Marina is conveniently located down the street, offering daily and weekly jet ski, boat and inflatables rentals. Our private water space offers one mooring for your rental, a short swim or paddle from the dock. On rainy days, the basement is set up as a game room, and can provide hours of entertainment with the ping pong and fooseball tables.
Those visiting in cooler months, can take advantage of numerous heaters added with renovations. The lake is accessible year-round for fishing, with local fishing guides easily available. Snowmobile and cross-country skiing trails can be found right out the back door of the cabin.
Fall is the perfect time for nature enthusiasts to visit. Colorful fall leaves provide the perfect backdrop for postcard-perfect photographs, and wildlife can always be found flitting or scurrying around the property.
You'll also find this rental secluded from the hustle and bustle of city life, but conveniently located to numerous destinations. The picturesque Portland Headlights are a quick 45-minute drive away, with numerous opportunities for exploring the Portland area. For those wishing to experience the cold but refreshing Atlantic Ocean, Old Orchard Beach is also 45 minutes away. Old Orchard Beach is the home of a famous boardwalk setting filled with food, shopping and carnival games and rides. Other destinations to take note of within a few hours driving distance include Kennebunkport, Cape Elizabeth, Ogunquit and the home of Maine-native and famous author, Stephen King.

About the host
Hosted by Jennie Loucks/Cindy Smith

Although our families lives halfway across the country from on another (Kansas, Oklahoma, Virginia), Maine has been a summer staple for generations. A house that was built four generations ago has served as a getaway, for some for a week, for others, the whole summer. A quiet place for board games, VHS movies, tubing, books and laughter, this home has shaped who each of us are as individuals in some shape or form.
Barbara Smith, for some, "Grandma Bobbie," for others "Mom," carried on the Maine tradition, gathering the family here each summer, and with her passing several years ago, this home has become an even more sacred place for our family. Although most of the grandchildren are now adults themselves, and all of our lives have taken vastly different paths, we all know that Maine is there for us, waiting each summer, to bring us together, to celebrate the vibrant life of Bobbie, and to spend a week basking in the unparalleled joy that is spending time together in such a beautiful place.
