Lake Leelanau Waterfront With Dock and Panoramic Views. Close to Everything!
Located in the heart of wine country on the shore of south Lake Leelanau, this stunning 4 BR, 2.5 Bath home features panoramic views from every level.
Previously featured in the Showcase of Remodeled Homes, our home has enjoyed consistent “5 star” reviews since being introduced in 2012. As new owners, we look forward to improving upon an already fabulous Leelanau escape.
The updated open-concept kitchen and living areas, plus outdoor dining on the upper balcony and lower patio ensure gorgeous water views whether you opt to dine indoors or al fresco.
Outdoors, you’ll enjoy 120 feet of private, firm sandy bottom Lake Leelanau frontage. Spend your days boating to Leland, floating on a raft, or sun bathing on the dock or sugar-sand beach area. The lake is shallow at the shoreline and for a good distance out, making this great area for supervising children’s summer fun. In the evening, two fireplaces (one on both levels) or the bonfire pit provide the perfect accompaniment to a bottle of wine or s’mores.
Sleeping Bear Dunes, the Leelanau Wine Trail, and unbeatable biking, golf, hiking, fishing, dining, autumn splendor, farmers markets and boutique shopping provide endless nearby options away from the lake. Welcome to Leelanau, the “land of delight!”

House is lovely and as advertised. If you travel in the winter, know that the 3 bedrooms in the lower level will be COLD. The pillows need to be replaced and the shovel you will need to clear the parking area yourself is located in the shed down the hill by the lake.Bonus: the master bath has heated floors.
House was well equipped with kitchen items, except coffee maker could be replaced. Other than that, all good! Lots of throw blankets and pillows for cozy sitting areas. Plenty of linens. The view was so beautiful. We even caught the northern lights. Great place for a family getaway, or girls trip like we did. It was like a breath of fresh air!
Spent the weekend exploring vineyards, tasting rooms, and Fishtown in Leland. This place was great as a private escape between Leland and Suttons Bay with lots of great areas to explore.
We had a fabulous time at this cottage. We have stayed at several places on the same lake, but this was by far our favorite. Lots of land, the pier was in very good condition, the beach was great, and we loved the tiki shack to hang out at during the day. The inside was clean and well-maintained. We’d love to stay at the same cottage in the future.
This house is perfect. The location is wonderful. Close to many wineries, the narrows, Leland, and Suttons Bay. The house was clean, and had plenty of room. We loved the dock and firepit. Heather was amazing with communication, and so helpful. We had an amazing time. We would definitely stay here again.
This is the fifth time staying at this property. It is perfect for our family. Sand, lake, bonfires…what more could you ask for. We love the location and its proximity to so much adventure. Heather is a very conscientious host and is available to answer questions at any time.
It was easy and accommodating. Communication was great.
I would suggest the housekeeper check the outside on occasion. There was piles of vomit and men’s socks laying around, but overall great experience!

Hi Ashley,
I generally don't comment on guest reviews, but this one was really a gut punch that we are very sorry to read. Our neighbors allowed their grandson to host a party at their home a few days prior to your stay. We can only assume that the group made it into our yard because we noticed beer cans and other miscellaneous litter in our yard that we thought we attended to properly before your arrival, but clearly there was a miss on our part. We have a housekeeper and a professional lawn service who are both charged with making sure the lawn, grounds, and exterior are as pristine and enjoyable as the interior. If we had known this was your experience, we would have sent someone out to attend to any mess the same day. We want all of our guests to have a memorable, relaxing, and five-star experience and I hope you'll consider giving us another chance. Best Regards,
Heather
We had a great stay at this house on the west side of Lake Leelanau. Located just about halfway between Leland and Suttons Bay, we had easy access to towns, beaches, wineries, hikes and anything else you might need.
The location itself is right on the lake with a dock with a bench at the end for quiet end of day sits. The house was ample for our family - five adults and one little one, with sitting areas inside and out, an ample kitchen, etc. etc.
Our host, Heather, was very responsive to our questions, and generously had a loaf of bread and some other goodies waiting for us when we arrived. A great experience overall.

Super lakefront cottage -- great for families
Our family of six (including grandkids aged eight and eleven) spent many happy hours on the waterfront -- wonderful to have unlimited use of the kayak and stand-up paddleboard!
The bedroom setup -- one upstairs and three down -- is convenient and comfortable. The house overall is light, airy, clean, nicely decorated and equipped. Heather is a gracious and helpful owner. We would rate the property as five stars if there were shades across the back upstairs windows -- the morning sun can be very bright and hot.
This cottage has gorgeous views of the lake from upstairs and down. There is an easy sloping walk down to the lake with a private dock and beach. The long dock has a bench at its end, where I spent mornings in thought and reflection. The cottage points east, making sunrise over the trees quite lovely, especially if you bring your yoga mat. The firepit offers an opportunity for enjoyable marshmellow roasting & stargazing. And there is a fully equipped sandpit, I'm sure kids would love. Our get together was for a small group of lifelong adult friends, so the cottage layout was wonderful. Upstairs holds a large family room, kitchen, and bedroom suite with a bathroom off the side. There is a halfbath and laundry room on the same floor. The kitchen is well-equipped for meal cooking with a gas grill downstairs. A deck has furniture so you can socalize outside when weather permits. There are 3 downstairs bedrooms with a full bath. There is a large seating area on the lower level to watch the lake....or TV.The weather turned cold during our end of August stay, but the area provided plenty of things to do; like shopping Sutton's Bay, walking Empire sand dunes, exploring Leland and visiting a lighthouse at the tip of Leelanau. We found a talented singer at Ciccones vineyard and lots of good wines at local vineyards. The views are spectacular as you cruise along finding farmside fruit and vegetable stands.

Beautiful views mediocre home
Pros were beautiful views and great location.Home needed alot of TLC.Couch was broken and when i told the owner she said oh yes she knew she just hasnt got one yet.The master bed and front downstairs beds need repacing, the slider to the deck has no lock and you neeed to arm to close it and even then the men had to close it; owner said she'd send someone over never came.No shades on fro t living area so AC had a hard time keepFor the weely rate things need to be much better.Walk down n up hill to water is hard for older people.ing rooms at 74 and it wasnt even that hot out.Walk to water n back up hill is really hard for older people. We would never rent this home again but Im sure people will.

We are disappointed to see this guest’s review, although unfortunately aren’t surprised to see it. In the weeks prior to her arrival, we received multiple surly phone calls and text messages from Debra that provided fair warning that we’d need to work hard to please these guests!
The sofa referenced had a small tear in the back that did not affect its comfort or functionality in any way. I did let Debra know that I was aware of the damage and our new sofa was on order (which has since been replaced!). When she mentioned that the sliding glass door was difficult to open, we sent our handyman out the very next day to apply WD-40 to the door (which has two locks – I wish we had known there was difficultly locking the door!). The king-sized bed in the primary bedroom was custom-designed by me and handcrafted by a local carpenter using reclaimed wood from Michigan’s Huron National Forest. Reclaimed wood is inherently “distressed,” but we love it and hear all the time that our guests do as well! As for curtains / shades in the living room – we would never install anything that would block or diminish the panoramic views (although all bedrooms have curtains / shades). I wish I had known that any of these issues impacted the quality of Debra’s vacation but we’ll take this feedback to heart to ensure the best possible stay and “Pure Michigan” experience for future guests!
Heather is a wonderful conscientious host and responds quickly to questions and needs. Location is prime to visit Sutton’s Bay, Lake Leelanau and Leland for shopping. Lake and swim area were clean and Sandy bottom. We love this place and have been here multiple times.

My husband and I fell in love with the Leelanau Peninsula years ago on a spur-of-the-moment trip "up north." We spent the next several years exploring ever inch of the peninsula. When South Shore House became available, we knew its location and views were unbeatable. We're so excited to share our dream getaway with you!
