The Story
America has given so many the chance to build a better life—and our family is incredibly grateful to be among them. We’re deeply thankful for the sacrifices of those who came before us, whose courage and perseverance helped make the peace, freedom, and opportunity we now enjoy possible.
Through hard work, dedication, and a whole lot of heart, we've turned our dreams into reality. With a big family like ours, we envisioned a place where we could gather, celebrate, and connect—without ever feeling like we were in someone else’s way. Mom dreamed of a cozy wrap-around porch, and I pictured a sunlit turret with sweeping views. Thanks to an exceptional architectural team from the Northwest and a skilled local builder, both dreams came true.
Over the past 16 years, family members have come and gone, moving into homes of their own, as life’s seasons shifted. Through it all, we’ve found joy in opening our home to others—sharing our version of the American Dream. There’s something truly special about seeing guests take in the comfort and beauty of our space, even if just for a little while.
Château d’Amour isn’t just a home—it’s a haven built with love, designed for family, friends, and heartfelt connection.
The Place
Château d’Amour is a blend of luxury, warmth, and easy elegance. Its graceful exterior, wrap-around verandas, and welcoming atmosphere offer a sense of retreat the moment you arrive.
Step inside and enjoy a stunning 80-foot sightline stretching from the rotunda to the family room fireplace. The circular layout thoughtfully connects the den, formal living room, kitchen, and dining room, with a convenient butler’s pantry in between. Covered outdoor dining and the expansive porch invite you to linger outside, surrounded by nature.
A sweeping spiral staircase leads to the upper level, where the primary suite provides a peaceful escape, complete with a pentagon-shaped sitting area and fireplace. The second floor also features a guest suite, two charming turret bedrooms, and a spacious media room with a built-in bar—perfect for movie nights or casual hangouts.
Though the home spans 5,348 square feet, it still feels intimate, cozy, and welcoming. Whether it’s singing karaoke in the family room, playing piano in the living room, enjoying a film in the bonus room, or stargazing from the porch, every corner is designed for enjoyment and relaxation—with plenty of space to unwind in privacy.
The property shines in every season: cherry blossoms and azaleas in spring, hummingbirds in summer, fireflies flickering at dusk, and golden leaves in the fall. A bird-feeding station invites feathered friends year-round, and a telescope with binoculars is available for nature lovers and stargazers alike.

About the host
Hosted by Judith de la Cruz

Having a big, close knit family is what motivated me to build this home. Plenty of space to enjoy each others company.
People ask me why I share my home. I say why not. I used to sleep on the floors with a straw mat growing up. I had no bedroom of my own, 8 kids, one toilet. I am used to sharing. I cherish everything because I know how it is to come from just having the basics of life.
I am a local residential real estate agent of 29 years. I have a 31 member immediate family. I love to dance under the moonlight, smell the roses, gardenias, camias and the herbs in the garden. The only time we were permitted as kids o play outside at night was during full moon nights., hence the reverence
I love plants so you will see live plants in and outside of the home. Recently planted fruit trees in the back. I find gardening relaxing. I love all kinds of music ranging from classic to the 90's. I was a teenager in the 80's.
I only know how to play one piece on the piano and that is Vera's theme which I learned by ear. The baby grand is a Yamaha diskclavier where it plays by itself but that gadget is no longer functioning. However, the piano still sounds good if you can play.
I love to travel locally and internationally. Paris, France is a place I want to visit over and over again due to it's food, language, arts, Versailles, the Eiffel tower and the River Siene.
The place amplifies my romantic energies. haha Not to mention that Medecins Sans Frontieres was the last to leave my hometown of Guiuan, E. Samar Philippines from the effects of one of the worlds worst typhoons ever, Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda.
The detached garage is currently being finsihed as an additional dwelling unit (ADU ). This is my partner and I will live when it gets completed in October 2024.. You will have no reason to feel discomfort because unless you need me for anything, you will be left alone to enjoy the home.

Why they chose this property
I picked this location to be away from everyone so I can enjoy my big family. But development came right behind and around me so now I am back to back with other homes. I miss the privacy we once had. However, it is still a blessing because the type of homes that have been built and still continually being built around the property are beautiful custom homes.
What makes this property unique
It is a custom built, modern Victorian home which is rare to see nowadays when the trend is modern and craftsman homes. The wrap around porch, turret, the rotunda....
