The Shotgun House, popularized by appearing on Fixer Upper, (Season 3) stands just a block from the Silos and close to Waco’s vibrant downtown scene.

Stay in this unique space, designed & built by Chip & Joanna themselves and boasts 800+ 5-Star Reviews. Perfect size for two couples or a small family.

The sunny space contains large windows and beautiful hardwood floors that lead from the front door, past the gourmet kitchen, to your cozy sleeping quarters. Beautiful outdoor appeal and lovely decor inside. Various kitchen appliances to not only cook but entertain. There was only two towels, so unless you want to use the washer/dryer for towels, bring extra. The stairs to the loft are extremely steep and high, I could not take my eyes off my 3 year old. My kids however enjoyed the backyard. And we loved the walking distance to the silos. It was also very close to Baylor and restaurants. Overall, beautiful home.

Coolest Property!

Great little house

Great little house with an outside area with a fire pit. Great host always available when there was an issue. Only problem was the noisy traffic next door at Tinsley apartment after 10 pm.

Great location!

There is so much to love about this property! The location is 5 minutes walking or driving from all that Magnolia Market has to offer. Including Magnolia Table, less than a 5 minute drive. It is also convenient to I35 and Highway 6. The house itself is adorable. For a weekend or even longer stay it's perfect. If you have any issues with heights, stairs or ladders, you'll want to stay downstairs. But the house made fabulous use of the space available. Kids would probably love climbing up to their own room! We didn't use any of the appliances but they are all updated and look great.

Cute and fairly efficient. The lock on the door didn't light when touched, so it took us more than 15 minutes to get inside when it finally lit the #s so we could see them. My son is 6'3" and slept upstairs. Getting up and down and around the stairs was awkward and more cumbersome than we anticipated. We were three adults and there were only two towels in the bathroom. I started the washer but have no idea if it actually began the cycle, the dashboard on the machine wasn't intuitive to me or my husband. The rug in the bedroom is a tripping hazzard. It's torn in many places and leaves holes that catch. We sorely missed having somewhere to put our bags and clothing. There are no hooks other than those by the front door for hanging clothes and there was no place to set our bags in the room other than the floor. We are in our 70s and stooping to search the bags on the floor isn't easy. Also, no place to put decorative pillows when the bed was turned down, except the floor, which begs the question is that where they are in each guests stay? Missed having a place by the bed to set my book and water tumbler. The block of wood hung by the bed is way to high to be efficient. The shades rattle at the baseboards and were a constant clicking during the night that kept us all waking. We used no dishes and left to eat, because our hanging clothes were draped over bar stools. So, cute and novel that it was on Fixer-Upper, but not practical or a place we would return to stay.

Make sure to reach out to the hosts of any property y’all stay in if you don’t see towels, luggage racks, etc. And we totally understand your comments on the stairs, blinds, etc. - we’ve done our best to maintain the property from the episode on the show while bringing in touches of Magnolia/Jo of today. There are some of those pieces/finishes that we’ve maintained given how special and unique they are. Sorry that we weren’t able to live up to y’all’s expectations for this trip.

My wife and I met at Baylor and have lived/traveled around the country but we chose to move back to Waco for a variety of reasons.

One of those was to expand our real estate portfolio with unique stays in places we care about. We're active in the community, local church, and are happy to share our recommendations of our favorite things to do in town.

Why they chose this property

This part of Waco is extremely special. It's nestled between Magnolia/The Silos, Baylor University, & Downtown Waco (including the Riverwalk, new basketball arena, etc.). So there's always something to do for virtually anyone and is extremely walkable.

What makes this property unique

This house was featured on Fixer Upper Season 3 Episode 15. It was built by Chip & Joanna Gaines and is an unique stay for any Magnolia fans. A few highlights:

- Original 1920's shotgun house was moved on a custom trailer to this lot and remodeled while keeping a lot of the original touches
- Custom ladder on pulley system that opens up to loft
- Pieces of the original house/items that were featured on the episode are part of the house
- The original brick foundation from the house was moved and set up as a the outdoor firepit patio
- And so much more...

On top of this - even if you aren’t a Fixer Upper fan - guests rave about the location of the house and its proximity to all things Waco. Walk to dinner/drinks, walk to a game, & walk to all the shopping you’d like.
