We enjoyed our short visit. This was the second time we stayed at Hi House. I made the reservation as soon as I saw it was available at the same time we were. Jeff and Barbie were responsive to our communications.

Glass Tree House

We loved this property. The windows surrounding us made indoor living feel like outdoor living, which we appreciated on our first very windy, cold day. Waking up to a treetop view from the bed was a joy.

Fantastic, Like Always

We have stayed on this property countless times, and it never disappoints. Watching wildlife from the deck, watching the sunrise from bed, and getting a great night sleep in a comfy, quiet place. We love the area, but this house is what keeps us coming back.

Our Happy Place

We’ve stayed at Hi House at least once a year for more than 15 years. What more can I say - it’s a unique place - love waking up surrounded by trees, quiet, and secluded even though the walls are glass. In the heart of Pt Reyes close to so many amazing trails and beaches. Comfy bed and reading chairs. The best.

Unique Property

This property is one of a kind. Secluded glass house for two on hill with view on wooded lot. Features that count—surrounding decks, outdoor chairs, good tv, dishwasher, tasteful decorations, comfy bed. Close to state park and Pt Reyes. Easy in, easy out.

Best Treehouse Ever!

A lovely retreat in a spectacular setting. Suggestions for improvement: supply shampoo and more soap in bathroom (consider a big bottle of liquid soap) and more essentials in kitchen (salt and pepper supplies were running very low and there was no cooking oil of any kind).

Beautiful studio with breathtaking view

Hi House is a good sized studio with a cozy but well appointed kitchen. The furniture is comfortable, especially the bed. The property is in a fantastic location at the edge of Point Reyes National Seashore and Tamales Bay State Park. Sitting on a hill among the trees, you can see the bay and the ocean. The views are nearly unobstructed, with 3 full sides being floor to ceiling windows. You can also enjoy them from the ample deck. We look forward to spending another wonderful getaway at Hi House!

Unique, mid-century modern glass house

This unique, mid-century modern glass house provided a beautiful Treetop level living experience. The Charming glass house provided 200° wraparound view of forest, Lagoon, and ocean views enhanced by local wildlife in quiet harmony with nature. The facilities were in excellent shape, thoughtfully planned and fully functional providing a magical time transport visit to a prior Frank Lloyd Wright era.

Location!

Loved staying "in the trees" in this high, glass-windowed home. Shopping is not nearby, so I wish there had been coffee. I would have been happy to meet the hosts who live next door, and that might have felt more friendly, but that's not a requirement of VRBO and we had enough information to manage on our own. The property was in excellent condition and very clean.

An excellent combination of comfort and style

Tree-top glass house is exactly as described: a glass house nestling among the trees in the Pt. Reyes area next to Tomales Bay State Park. The house consists of one large well-furnished space consisting of the bedroom, dining and living areas; a small kitchen area, and the bathroom. It is designed for two people. An outside balcony abuts the glass walls surrounding the open living area, and the surrounding vegetation and the height of the structure provide for more than adequate privacy. The furniture is well-designed, comfortable and plentiful for two people. One slight caveat is that access to the house is by an open stair spiral stair case which may be difficult for some people to climb and/or may provide difficulties in carrying heavy luggage. An elevator is attached to the house for those needing assistance, but I don't know how easy it is to use. We would be delighted to stay again when returning to the Pt. Reyes area.

A unique place

This is a very special property. The pictures don’t even do it justice. It really is an amazing unique place. The walls are all glass and the trees are all trimmed so that you can see through them to the ocean on one side and tamales bay on the other. The furniture is all fun mid century modern. There are no curtains or anything so if you are a sensitive sleeper like me, make sure to bring your sleep mask. Also, we were only given two bath towels, two wash cloths, one hand, towel, and one kitchen towel. This was really not enough for a three day stay. But we may do. The kitchen is very tiny, but it was adequate for preparing meals with a full stove and refrigerator. All the entertainment options are available. I really enjoyed the unique art objects. The bed was very cozy with lots of different weights of blankets. It was chilly and foggy most of the time we were there, but the heater worked really well. we had a great visit to tamales bay state park right next door. The trail was like a rain forest wonderland with lots of wonderful birds. The wraparound porch was really nice to be able to look at birds or just enjoy the view. Unfortunately,, we found a dead bird on the porch. Really hoping the owners will put some stickers on the windows so the birds know not to fly into the glass. This was a really fun place to stay, and to celebrate our anniversary!

Tree Top Beauty!

The tree house was very unique. The wrap around windows and porch gave amazing views of the Point Reyes area. It was peaceful with a comfortable bed and mid century modern furniture that complemented the space. There is excellent access to hiking and bike trails. (Note—You will want to bring your own ground coffee to use with provided coffee maker and filters.)

unique architectural gem exquisite sited in national seashore

Anyone who is able to stay in Hi House knows how lucky they are. This architectural gem of mid-century modernism feels like a time machine and is absolutely beautiful. And the location simply couldn't be better. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and hope to return. Big thanks to Jeff and Barbie for sharing their magical tree house.

Retired restauranteurs, we now enjoy our grandchildren, sailing, boating, travelling and enjoying all the wonders of our current home here in the heart of Point Reyes National Seashore.

Why they chose this property

This property was purchased as a vacation home by my grandparents. They added a second home, Hi House, in 1960. My siblings and I purchased the property from the family(s) in 1974. We rented occasionally to friends, and in 2004 my wife and I began to offer the homes as vacation rentals.

What makes this property unique

Peace, solitude, nature. Surrounded by Tomales Bay State Park and the Point Reyes National Seashore. Property is isolated, yet only minutes from the seashore, bay, hiking, biking, birding, whale watching and dining.
