Centrally-located
You're never far from where you need to be with this convenient location.
Step inside 144 years of California history, meticulously restored with a philosophy as old as the house itself: buy next to nothing new. Every hand-carved beam, original stained glass window, and century-old redwood was here before you — and was worth saving. What surrounds you isn't manufactured charm. It's the real thing.
Renaissance ideals. Pioneer spirit. Luxury minded. The oldest standing home in Los Alamos (1882), restored with a buy-nothing-new philosophy. Named rooms, gram-worthy nooks, Bali swinging bed, Kissing Cove, fire pit, two BBQs, wine barrel fountains, Toto bidet, and a Boudoir de Bouge that has to be seen to be believed. Half a block from the 1880 Union Hotel. This is the real thing.

Beautiful house and property with so much character! Clearly a lot of love put into the renovation of this home. Walking distance to everything in town. Would definitely return!

Megan thank you so much for your kind words and appreciating the Heritage House and our cool little pioneer town of Los Alamos!!
Overall this was a fantastic home to stay in during our weekend in Los Alamos. The space was clearly curated to create a unique experience for guests. Every corner of the home presented a new adventure and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The home was also comfortable, spacious, and well stocked. The water temperature in the upstairs shower was a bit tough to manage. Hosts were very communicative and supportive. We will definitely stay here again!

Great eclectic space
Well stocked, comfortable, easy access. Perfect for 5 girls on a weekend escape! Perfect location: close to the Main Street, wineries, antique shops and eateries!!!!
Enjoyed staying at the roadhouse in Los Alamos, a good getaway for me and my family to enjoy the surrounding area and cute little stretch of town that Los Alamos has.
Very quaint older home with a lot of character. Our family and my sister and daughter stayed. We had a wedding at The Union Hotel, so the location around the corner was perfect! The town is small and adorable!
Spent a weekend at the Los Alamos Roadhouse with a bunch of ladies and couldn't have been happier -- what a special, funky and comfortable spot for us all to congregate. With lots of sweet decorative touches and nooks to hang out, it was perfect for our group. The hosts accommodated all our needs and made us feel right at home in their space.
The Roadhouse was in an ideal location. It had all the amenities that we needed and it was very clean inside. Communication with the hosts was excellent.
We loved our stay at the Roadhouse— it’s like staying in a piece of history but with comfortable modern amenities. The location was perfect for walking to everything in Los Alamos. The fire pit and outdoor living room (David Bowie picture) were a big hit. Friendly hosts with great communication. Would happily stay again!

Thanks for staying with us, Lexi! Glad you had a wonderful time. Happy to host you again anytime!
We enjoyed our stay here. All the beds were very comfortable. We had 6 adults in the 3 bedrooms.
The town is fun to visit. We were there for a wedding at the 1880 Union hotel. It is about a 1/2 block from the hotel and in the center of town.

Place was great - will book it again next year!
This was the perfect basecamp for a 4 day stay in the Santa Ynez Valley. The home was authentic, comfortable and super convenient. No complaints what so ever. Rich
This house was built in the late 1800s and it has so much character. Location is great as it’s a quiet area yet close to wineries, SB, Solvang and Los Olivos. Host was very gracious. This house has a lot of character and highly recommend

Thank you for staying with us, Rich! You're welcome again anytime :-)
We were attending a wedding at the 1880 Union Hotel. This property is just around the corner from the Hotel. It was so convenient to be able to walk to the Friday/Saturday events.
We were in town for a wedding at 1880 Union and this was the perfect location. No AC, but town cools down at night and the house stays cool as long as you close up in the morning. We had no issues with heat and it was 90+ outside all weekend. House is beautiful and the hosts are very nice!

These people that rent this house are not owners of the house. They sub lease this house to make a profit. They have the Ring surveillance camera with out Acknowledge or consent of the guest/renter. . The guest have the right to be notified to be videoed/voice recorded with our consent and acknowledgment, which we did not. They constantly are spying on you, so they can charge you by stating you have had “unauthorized guest” this is there famous come up! Never felt so violated. It almost seems like they stay at the water tower on the same property and watch you! This is why you are not allowed to use or see it, even though it’s on the same property. It’s super weird. They waived to us during our stay. Like if we didn’t know it was them.
The refrigerator is full of there food, leaving hardly any room for yours. The closets are full with there clothes again leaving no room for yours. Very baser.
During our stay it was cold at night. The heater was programmed and did not work at night. They controlled this too. As if they didn’t charge enough to stay there. We were very cold and uncomfortable the 2 nights we stayed there.
If you look at there reviews do you wonder why they only have 3? The locals in Los Alamos state they rent it out frequently. So not sure why they only have 3 reviews. It may be because when you walk in the have a summary of how they expect to be rated 5 star.
I would definitely stay in Los Alamos again, but definitely never here nor would I recommend staying at The Roadhouse unless you want to be watched every second of your stay! Freaky!

This person reserved for 4 guests. On Friday afternoon when they were moving in, we received a text message from a neighbor that said "Looks like there's a party at The Roadhouse this weekend!" They proceeded to have 10-12 guests on the property all weekend (as shown by our external cameras, which are/were detailed in our listing). They were caught in a lie and we asked for payment for the correct amount of people. They are lying in their review with their star rating of our property, as they commented (in our communication after they got caught), "This is not the way we ever expected this to go. Unfortunately we will not recommend this place even though it was a such charming place in the perfect location." So that's the real review.
When you go to the self-checkout with 12 apples and pay for 4, don't tell the security guard who stops you on the way out that they put you in that situation as you're caught stealing. Unfortunately, we'll have to live with this false and defamatory review (in too may ways to mention). We have still not been paid the correct amount for the excess of guests on our property for the weekend. It's people like Belinda that damage the sharing community.
Our space is clean, lovely, private. We're sorry you couldn't figure out the thermostat (which is freely accessible and adjustable in the dining room) and we will add a note for our guests on how to use it.
Visiting Los Alamos for a wedding. Location was right across the street from the venue which was perfect! House was very clean and overall had a great experience. Would definitely recommend.
This was a perfect place to stay for our girls’ trip. The location was so central to everything in town. The home was very clean, and felt unique and cared for. Communicating with the host was a breeze. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!
I came here with my fiancee and two other couples for a 4th of July getaway. The property was great and well-stocked with everything we needed. The hosts were very communicative and readily available. The town lost power at one point and we heard from the hosts very quickly with an ETA from the power company, etc. They had 100's of candles stashed and told us where to find them. Turned into a lovely dinner!
Los Alamos itself is a quaint little town with a few good restaurants and lots of wine options. A fun getaway for a group of friends like us.

Wonderful Warm Home!
We had such a lovely stay at the Los Alamos Roadhouse! My family and a few friends spend a lovely weekend here! The house is adorably decorated and has a very warm and welcoming energy! We had everything we needed for a few days of cooking, exploring the town, chats by the fire, paying darts, and relaxing. Excellent stay in a beautiful house with lovely hosts! Already planning our next trip back!

About the host
Hosted by Jen Boulden
Hi I'm Jen. Superhost for over a decade. Heritage House is where I fell in love with my style of renovations, called "Regenerative Design." This 1882 structure had been waiting for our talented team to breathe new life into it, and I think you'll agree, we did just that. Every room has a name, a story, and an intention. If you want to see more of the story of this space before you arrive — or just want to see what this corner of California really looks like — @jenboulden and @losAlamosHeritageHouse on Instagram.
NOTE: We also host private events — and if you've ever dreamed of celebrating somewhere that would love to have you add your story to hers, Heritage House is available. Visit losalamosheritagehouse.com.
Why they chose this property
Los Alamos is the last honest town on the Central Coast — a former stagecoach stop that somehow held onto its soul. Centrally located on Bell Street, you can walk to nationally acclaimed restaurants, incredible wine tasting rooms, antique shops, the 1880 Union Saloon, and The Depot Bar without moving your car once. This is a town of respectable renegades, and we wouldn't have it any other way.
What makes this property unique
Heritage House is a Pioneer Eclectic original — Craftsman bones, Victorian ornament, frontier practicality — built in 1882 and restored as living art. No two rooms are alike. The Gatsby Room, the Brown Chicken Brown Cow, the Boudoir de Bouge, the Swingers Lounge — each space was designed with its own character and a sense of humor. Everything here has a story, a past life, and we think that's exactly the point. This is not a rental. It's an experience with an address. Heritage House also hosts private events — intimate weddings, celebrations, and gatherings for guests who want something real. Visit losalamosheritagehouse.com to learn more.
