About this property
Pioneer Cabin Retreat
Welcome! Pioneer beckons lovers of nature, adventurers, folks who appreciate togetherness and existing in the moment with loved ones. Cozy up in this cabin surrounded by natural beauty. Guests will enjoy close proximity to the Smith River and Redwoods, opportunities to swim, hike, raft, fish, adventure and relax. We provide a space which family and friends will use to build life-long positive memories while experiencing the natural magic this special place has to offer.
The exterior of this old Forest Service cabin is rustic, with raw wood siding and gingerbread style facia board trim. Our large water tank collects water from the natural spring up the hill, and chopped wood is stacked under the carport for the wood burning stove inside. The a-frame cabin shares the land with many native trees and shrubs including cedar, fir, manzanita, huckleberry and rhododendron. Perhaps the most striking of all is the view of the mountain side and Monkey Ridge from the living room and back deck. Inside the cabin is cozy and somewhat minimal. The small kitchen offers all cooking basics and essentials, and the propane barbecue is located on the deck. The bedroom and loft are comfortable for sleeping and include lounge/work spaces. Casual dining may be enjoyed indoors on the madrone slab table, or on the deck at either of the two provided seating areas. The fire pit in the back yard may be used during designated burn months (please check local Forest Service regulations and clear with host).
The cabin is a destination in itself and acts perfectly as a home base for all outdoor and local adventures, while still feeling rural.
*We have intentionally left some things out... The Pioneer Cabin does not have a screen of any kind, except for the ones on the windows ;)
*Have a larger group? Send us a message! We may accommodate additional guests.
Guests may access all areas of the cabin/property except for the utility room and cellar.
We will be available on the airbnb app and by phone during your stay! Should you need further assistance, we are typically a 5 minute drive away.
Pioneer Road is typically a very quiet neighborhood with friendly neighbors who often keep to themselves.
Guests are free to walk up and down Pioneer Road. There is plenty of parking for guests in the driveway and on the road.
We respect and care about our neighbors! We are so happy to share our cabin with guests and will do so long as our guests remail considerate and respectful of the long-time residents of our small community. Per Forest Service regulations, outdoor fires in the designated fire pit will NOT be allowed during fire season (please check current, local fire restrictions).
Please help us keep the cabin tidy by removing shoes upon entry.
Please ALWAYS drive slowly on Pioneer Road and be respectful of our neighbors.
Garbage and recycling must be kept tidy and secured in provided bins.

So quaint. So peaceful. The view from the back deck was incredible! Very few amenities nearby, but if you plan accordingly it doesn’t matter. This was our favorite lodging choice over the course of our seven day trip to Northern California.
This place was beautiful! My wife and I were looking for time away to visit the redwoods for our anniversary, and there couldn’t have been a better option. Quiet, calm, close to everything, tons of detailed guides by the door, cozy at night- we absolutely will be back!
Clean, comfortable cabin. Beds were comfy. Views of the mountains were great! We could hear the river from the back deck. Would definitely stay there again.
Would definitely stay here again. The spot, the story, the vibe and feel - just like home, or like staying at a friend's place.
Cute, cozy, accurately described but in person is even better than expected.
Gracious and communicative hosts
We had just one night but it was a great stopover on our way through the redwoods. Quiet and peaceful. The beds are comfortable and communication was good. One note: the listing says 2.5 bathrooms but there are only 1.5. Definitely recommend
The front porch sold me on this property. Being able to sit outside and enjoy the view of the trees is so peaceful. I was a little nervous about what the bathroom would be like but to my surprise the bathroom is cute and clean! Everything was perfect! Oh and I totally ordered the pancake from Hiouchi cafe! It is definitely an experience! Haha
Cute, comfortable place with especially nice outdoor seating. Very clean! We felt very welcomed. We couldn’t find a toaster and some lamps were missing light bulbs. We were a Iittle surprised there was some road noise in the first floor bedroom.
This was a quiet retreat with few distractions. Cabin was very clean. Kitchen is small but it did the job. View from the deck is awesome but you can hear the road noise. Still loved sitting with my morning coffee. Great proximity to Jedediah Smith park and Crescent City. Host was awesome. Definitely recommend. One thing about the area cell service is sketchy so download or screenshot your directions and door code before you get there.
