Great communication with host. View onto the lake is stunning. Plenty of furniture outside to enjoy the view. Location is pretty central to Wendy’s Market, Elgin and Westport to stock up on groceries. House had all we needed (laundry detergent, dishwashing detergent, clean towels/linens. AC was nice to have as it was hot during our stay. House was cleaned nicely for our arrival.
Good property that we would rent again. Great kitchen and kitchen supplies. 5 bedrooms were good for the 11 guests. 3 refrigerators/freezers are sufficient to hold a weeks worth of food. Nice sandy beach for the kids and the watercraft were well used.
View of the lake from back deck was spectacular. Accommodations were better than advertised. Kitchen well supplied with everyday needs. Setup with bunk house worked great for our group. Looking forward to next year!
The private setting on the lake is beautiful. Great view. Very peaceful. Everything worked fine - tvs, air conditioner, oven, dishwasher, plumbing, ect. The only drawback is something the owner could easily fix - the place needs a good cleaning. For example, the refrigerator was dirty, several of the pots and pans had food still stuck on them, there were lots of cobwebs and spiderwebs with dead bugs, the walls and windows need wiping and cleaning. If the owner looks after this, it would be an A rental.

Response from VrboOwner on 21 October 2025
From the owner: "We're so glad you enjoyed the peaceful lakefront setting and that everything in the home was working well during your stay. We truly appreciate your honest feedback about the cleanliness, and we apologize that it wasn’t up to the standard we aim to provide. We've addressed your concerns directly with our cleaning team and made it clear that we expect a much higher level of detail going forward. Thank you for bringing this to our attention so we can improve the experience for future guests."
The cottage was perfectly located half way between Montreal and Toronto so that all families could meet up for a birthday party! The weather was rainy, but the lake was warm so it didn't stop anyone from jumping in for most of the time! The cottage was well-equipped so everyone could sleep comfortably and eat all together!
The property manager was communicative and accommodating to our needs and would highly recommend this location for a short or long term stay!

Family Thanksgiving weekend on Whitefish Lake
We had a large group of family members and were quite comfortable in this large cottage even though the weather was simply awful this year. The cottage is located in a very nice location on the lake with great views of the water and a nice little beach with docking for a boat. The cottage is well equipped with kitchen supplies and a nice dishwasher to make cleanup easy. Overall, a very nice place to vacation for a large group and I would definitely recommend it. We plan to return once again next Thanksgiving.
This property is all about the view and access to the lake. Spectacular views and peaceful, quiet setting. Loads of seating on deck & around fire pit. Firewood was provided.
Setup of the main house good for bigger group. Kitchen was well stocked for cooking (utensils & pots/pans). Bbq provided with extra propane tanks, if needed. The separate living space is perfect for a couple with baby/small children. As mentioned in other reviews the mattresses in a few rooms could be replaced for more comfortable sleep.
Lots of movies available but no device provided to actually play. Mentions games but did not see any which was fine as we had packed our own.
Party member left behind personal item and arrangements were made quickly and easily with property management for return.

Nice family Thanksgiving weekend
Very comfortable upgraded cottage. All 11 of us were happy with the accommodations and have booked again for 2023. The cottage was well stocked with plates and cutlery for a large group like ours. All the appliances worked well including the dishwasher which was very valuable given our numbers. The cottage was nice and clean notwithstanding the fridge which needed to be better cleaned. The beds could use some renewal with better quality mattresses. The owner was very responsive to any questions and minor problems we had. Many of our group took advantage of the kayaks and paddle boat over the course of the weekend. As well, we used the firepit every evening. The kids loved it to roast marsh mellows.
Overall we (all 11 of us) were very comfortable at this cottage. It was nicely upgraded and well stocked with dishes and cutlery for our large gang. It has a nice big kitchen table so we could all eat together for our Thanksgiving dinner. We made good use of the kayaks and enjoyed the firepit each evening. Beds could have been more comfortable (higher quality mattresses required) and the fridge could have been cleaner. The owner was very responsive to our questions and was easy to reach. Overall, our entire family was pleased with the accommodations and want to return next Thanksgiving.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The view and lake waterfront was amazing. We enjoyed the exterior activities such as canoe, kayak, paddle boat and swimming. The interior could have been a little clean and a few of the beds will soon need to be renewed. All in all we had a great time. I recommend this place.
It’s a gorgeous cottage, great location and wonderful vibes!!!
The cottage is at the end of a gorgeous country road with a fabulous view to the lake.
Two separated place great for us because of the kids, they could have a quite place to sleep while adults are enjoying the night. Pet friendly and comfortable beds.
Clean and all the kitchen stuff!
We had a great weekend and I would come back here some absolutely sometime end of September so the are would be more colourful with the leafs still on trees.
Amazing the kids had a blast even though it rained the whole weekend
The rental process was very easy

Wonderful stay
The cottage is very nice and spacious. Very beautiful peaceful lake.
Well stocked with your necessities. Detailed cleaning is a bit lacking.
Room descriptions need a bit of an update- pull out couch?
I would definitely return.
Thank you for a wonderful relaxing getaway

The property is perfect for big family getaways, especially with the separate bunkhouse. It is well equipped in the kitchen, has plenty of linens, ample lake toys/life jackets. We had an issues with the hot water but Don was responsive and super helpful. We loved hanging out on the dock and the kids loved the shallow entry. Like another reviewer said, it was too weedy to swim off the dock, however, which was a bit disappointing. The only thing I would say is that it wasn’t the cleanest, especially the bathroom in the second bunkhouse. Overall, we had a great weekend.
Had a great time , def will return for another year
The time we spent at this cottage changed the way we feel about livng life and retiring early. From beautiful sunsets to clear and calm waters. The cottage had everything you could ask for along with a fully stocked kitchen and pantry. As well as access to kayaks, canoe, even life jackets. The kids loved the sandy shore and shallows and there was so many fish great for the angler on you. We enjoyed the camp fires overlooking the lake roasting marshmallows and eating smores. Great family vacation ..we are coming back for another visit...also had a great host and property management. We only have one life to live so on that note you should rent this cottage as you will not regret it.
A quiet spot by the lake where we thoroughly enjoyed a family get away. The cottage had a large room where we could all sit and relax. The cottage was well stocked with dishes and supplies.
It's a great place, all necessary equipment, lots of recreational equipment, water toys, etc. The lake is good for boating, fishing, and little kids playing in shallow, sandy beach. It is less good for adult swimming, due to abundant weeds beyond the beach. Still, we had a great time.
Owner was prompt and responsive to questions. I was not happy with VRBO lack of response, and refusal to put me in contact with owner so I could get some questions answered prior to final payment.
We love this place! Our 3rd year here and we hope to be back next year!
