Stay in a truly unique, a studio tiny home style cabin with a porch view of the forest and creek, and 30 acres of woods, hills and wild life. Explore the trails and experience nature conveniently near the lively culture and arts town of Athens, Ohio, and Ohio University.
READ THIS BEFORE booking our cabin. The name of our campground is Waldbaden Acres. Waldbaden is German for 'forest bathing'. These cabins are in the forest and surrounded by trees, ponds, and all kinds of nature. If you want a cabin that is surrounded by a wide path of manicured lawn and large paved parking spaces, DO NOT choose us! There are many guests who really appreciate our rustic, and creative aesthetic that is nature immersive, but occasionally there are those who rent our place and realize too late that they have chosen to be closer to nature than they are comfortable with. It is really in everyone's best interest that people who are uncomfortable with sleeping in a cabin where nature is not an arm's length away, not book our accommodations.
PLEASE NOTE If you have challenges relating to mobility, we may not be the right place for you. The ground is often not level, and some of our steps are narrow to accommodate tight spaces.
Please feel free to walk the trails and see the nature, but also be aware that it is mostly untamed nature and that your exploration is at your own risk.
This cabin is cozy and comfortable with great nature views, especially from the porch.
** We keep our cabins clean and tidy. However, they are located in a forest, and occasionally, insects visit them. We do not use pesticides as the residual chemicals of using them are likely to cause harm to our guests and nature, where as the insects are not. Please be aware of this, as we do not offer refunds for the presence of nature.
*** Just a quick note—the nightly rate covers 2 guests. If you’ll have more than 2 people, please be sure to add the extra guest(s) when making your reservation. Thank you!

The cabin was very nice and cozy in a beautiful location, close to Athens, Ohio, and not too far from Hocking Hills.

Liked: Cleanliness, communication
Very remote and quiet, cabin was clean. Property is about 4 miles from the bike trail. The driveway leading to the Ulysses was pretty tight but doable. Overall it was a good stay and relaxing.
Quiet place and cabin is just as described. Rained the whole time, so we didn’t get to enjoy the fire pit. Cozy porch facing the creek. Enjoyed our atay
Cabin was just as described. Everything we needed. Peaceful setting and very close to Athens. Porch was nice to sit on when it rained. We’ll book with Evan and Andes again when visiting our daughter at OU!

Thank you so much for your great review! We are happy to host you whenever you want to come!
We were extremely disappointed in the cabin. Which I would not even call a cabin. It’s pretty much a storage shed with a porch built on it. The pond is basically a mud hole. There was a wasp nest on the porch. The place looks like a hippie camp. It’s just a thrown together bunch of storage buildings made into into a type of cabin. We were told we would get our money back. They refunded one day stay out of five so we are gonna have to take them to court to get our money back. To put it bluntly the place is a dump! We did not even spend one night in the place. It is a terrible setting would highly advise that you do not stay here.

Thank you for your feedback. Although the exterior shell of the cabin was prefabricated, we added extra windows, insulation, plumbing, electric, full bath, kitchenette, heating and cooling, a stilted foundation, hardwood floors, and carefully thought trim and wall details. This we built with our own hands, pouring our hearts into the cabin and the many acres of beautiful forest surrounding it. Our pond is a natural wildlife pond meant for enjoying nature, and we consistently treat the property for pests to keep bugs and wasps away. While our rustic style isn't for everyone, most of our guests love the unique, natural experience here. Regarding your refund, you chose to leave right after arriving without staying the night. We asked you to cancel the booking on your end that same day so we could process a refund without penalties. Since you did not cancel or communicate further with us, we were not required to refund anything. Even so, we chose to refund you $150—which was the most expensive night of your stay—as a gesture of goodwill. We feel this was very fair under the circumstances and wish you the best.
My family and I are artists. I'm originally from Ohio, and my wife is from Hong Kong. We lived in NYC, Hong Kong, and now Ohio. We also spend a lot of time in Hokkaido, Japan. We love culture, travel and most of all creating things. These cabins on this land is one of our dreams. We've poured our souls into building them from nothing. We really hope you enjoy them and the beautiful forested land, hills and rock formations that surround them.
Why they chose this property
Our location is a 10 minute drive from OU and uptown Athens, but it feels like you are far out in the wilderness. Quite unusually for Appalachian Ohio, there are all kinds of shopping, restaurants, and other amenities in town and around it. Biking, hiking, parks and cultural happenings are nearby. Live music happens in a variety of venues on an almost nightly basis. Athens has three micro breweries and the brewery Little Fish is almost at the end of our road. The Plains, which is also quite close, has some of the above as well.
What makes this property unique
Nature, comfort and unique design. This cabin is cozy and comfortable with great nature views, especially from the porch.
