This was the perfect property for our large family’s Christmas gathering. It was nice to have a bed for anyone and a lot of space for the children to run and play. The round tables were perfect from for meals and playing games.
The property was so beautiful, quiet, peaceful and spacious. The air conditioner cranks. The kitchen is large and well stocked. So much room to spread out and visit. We danced in the empty room. The beds are sturdy and comfortable. There were 17 people in our party and we were comfortable. There is plenty of room to park. The upstairs sitting room is a beautiful and comfortable place to have a drink and talk. Three items for improvement. The main floor primary bathroom shower has very low pressure. The upstairs bathroom tub needs to be repainted and the shower curtain needs to be replaced. The step from the upstairs hallway into the bunk bed room needs to be marked as it is easy to trip. Otherwise we had a wonderful stay at The Journey Home!
We had an family gathering to celebrate my moms life. The house was perfect for the wide range in ages we had and we had everything we needed. Everyone agreed we should get back together there on a regular basis for family reunions.
So impressed with this home! Great feel, just as described, very comfortable, and excellent communication with the owner! Highly recommend!

The house was nice, the owners are nice. The upkeep on the inside could of been better for the price.

Sherry,
Thank you for posting a review and we’re so sorry to hear that your experience was not of the quality you expected. We have taken your feedback to our staff for improvements. It was great to meet you and many of your guests last week. Wishing you all the best!
This property was perfect for myself and 18 of my book club friends to get away for a weekend. We had individual beds for all (no need to bed share!) and plenty of space to spread out. The screened in porch was perfect for early morning coffee and reading. We will definitely keep this on our radar for next time.
House was absolutely perfect for our Women's weekend!! The house was wonderfully stocked with everything we needed. There was plenty of room to spread out and lots of space to hang out together! Julia was a dream host and was super responsive - within minutes of reaching out, if not instantly. Would absolutely stay here again! Would give a 20-star review if I could!
Twenty-one members of our family came from Oregon, Utah, and Missouri for a family reunion. Besides visiting some Missouri sites, the kids loved playing hide-and-seek and other games inside the house as well as outside in the spacious yard. Even with 21 of us, The Journey Home provided more than enough beds. The cooks loved the 2 stoves and 2 refrigerators. We loved having a washer and dryer as well as a garbage dumpster.
I would highly recommend this property. It's been years since my family has been able to get together, and I was worried about finding a big enough place. This property was perfect for us...plenty of rooms with comfortable beds, huge kitchen, a separate area to eat in/play games, peace and quiet and a responsive host all made for a perfect gathering. We could not be more pleased. We hope to return and make this a biannual family event. Thank you Julia!
ten highschool friends (class of 1964) meet every year at some location chosen by the group. Locations in the past reflect where the friends live and include: Estes Park; Keystone; Mt. Hood, Oregon; Catskill, New York; Millwood Virginia. This year we met in the middle of the country at The Journey Home in Dearborn, Missouri. Delightful accommodations and everyone had a great time.
This was our first visit to The Journey Home. What an amazing place! We are a family group of four generations from 6 to 86 and this house worked great for us. We had plenty of room to play games, cook and eat and all be together. I had a few questions before our weekend and Julia was always right back with an answer. Our weekend was fun, the property was excellent, the rental experience was easy and communication was the best I have ever had on any property. Thank you Julia and The Journey Home for a great family weekend!

Beautiful property for family time together!
This property offers SO much to a larger family for quality time together! We had our Thanksgiving together there, with great kitchen and dining accommodations. We were 8 adults and 8 children. Indoor spaces to play actively and for game playing. Screened porch, open area for kids soccer game, beautiful view, even after the fall colors had faded! Would love to return in the spring and summer with our full crew, and stay longer! So much to do! Not convenient for shopping, so plan ahead!

Great place for family gathering.
Our family loves to stay a night or two together at times but no one had room for 21 people. This was the perfect spot. Plenty of rooms and baths. Kitchen was well supplied and big enough for several cooks at once. From Make Your Own pizza night to a full Thanksgiving meal the kitchen compensated our needs. The large yard was great for a family football game and lots of other activities on the beautiful 70 degree days. No one wanted it to be over. We will definitely return. Highly recommend it for family gatherings.

Thank you for the review. We are so glad you had a wonderful time and would love to have you stay again!
We rented the Journey Home for our family get together after Christmas thru New Years. The house was enormous and just beautiful, with plenty of room for us all to spread out. There even was a lovely Christmas tree lit in the "ballroom" when we arrived! Gorgeous views of the surrounding property from all the windows was outstanding and we enjoyed exploring it all. With the cold weather, the fire pit was a big draw for making s'mores and the fully equipped kitchen made cooking easy.
Julia was excellent and easy to work with and quickly answered all our questions. We would highly recommend this home.

Family retreat.
I wanted to say what a wonderful retreat we had at The Journey home. My husband has Alzheimer's and we needed some family time. Part of our family lives in Colorado and this was a great halfway vacation spot. We spent many hours on the porches and enjoyed watching all the kids play. We prepared most of our meals in the huge kitchen and enjoyed the spacious dining area. We saved a lot of money on food. Although we had planned on doing a lot of sightseeing in the near by areas, we couldn't get the family to leave the farm. I have never felt so at peace in my life and wished we had booked for another week. My good husband so enjoyed the time. Thanks for providing a wonder home to share. Ohio family.

It was a pleasure meeting your beautiful family! What a joyful time to all come together with loved ones near and far for an extended time of feasting, recreating and just enjoying the peaceful countryside! We are always delighted to host family reunions!
We stayed at the Journey Home with 18 family members ranging in ages from 8 months to 85 years. The property was clean and spacious with many locations both indoors and out to gather. The kitchen was spacious, allowing multiple people to work at the same time. It was also well equipped with 3 different coffee pots, cooking and serving supplies, and a carousel with herbs and spices. The 23 beds were adequate, though not the best mattresses. We were able to put beds together to create king beds for 3 couples. We used the outdoor firepit to make s'mores which was fun. The showers each had a wallsoap/shampoo/conditioner dispenser. The screened porch with ceiling fan also got lots of use. We all enjoyed watching the fireflies each evening. Some of the outdoor furniture needs to be replaced, but they had about 16 folding chairs that we were able to put to good use. We brought lots of outdoor games for the kids, including badminton, ladder ball, a splash pad, bubbles, frisbees, and pinwheels. We would definitely stay here again!
