Well-maintained lake front property on Lake of Egypt. Watch the boats from the covered deck. Enjoy the lake with a two boat slip covered dock. Fish and swim right off your dock. In the evening, roast some marshmallows in the fire pit with an amazing view of the lake. Inside, enjoy a huge sun room with gas fireplace and open/eat in kitchen. The property boasts a whopping 155 feet of rip/rap shoreline. Experience lake life at its finest as you relax and enjoy the fantastic views from your deck or sun room. Three marinas service the lake, with live entertainment for you to drop anchor and enjoy. Located near the wine trails and several state parks, it truly is a vacationer's dream. Come see the view and experience the fishing, swimming, boating, and relaxing in this awesome home.

There are two bedrooms with queen-sized beds, one bedroom with twin/full bunk beds as well as a trundle, and a pullout couch with a full-size bed. Air mattresses are welcome (but please do not exceed 10 people).

Additionally, there is a blacktop, horseshoe driveway!

House was beautiful with a direct view of the lake. We enjoyed sitting on the back deck watching the wildlife and activities on the lake. House was very clean and well stocked with everything you would need. Hosts were quick to respond to questions i had and very pleasant to talk to. Family getaway

We had a lovely time relaxing, fishing, boating, hiking, golfing and most importantly enjoying family time. We enjoyed being right on the lake and liked that the property had a downstairs area for our young adult children to have their own space. Jeff and Heather were very attentive and friendly.

Great Lake retreat

Beautiful view of the lake. We enjoyed being able to have a dock that was covered so we could bring our pontoon. It was convenient to float by the dock too. We would stay again!

Lovely Retreat

The Cabin by the Lake is charming and comfortable. The views from the expansive living area are just breathtaking. The house itself is so clean and well-cared for. Heather made us feel very welcome and she was extremely helpful with her suggestions of places to visit during our stay.

What a beautiful home!

We absolutely loved our stay! The house is magnificent and super clean! It is a great house for two families because it is two floors and the lake is right there for swimming! You will not be disappointed in this house! The surrounding area is beautiful so make sure you check it all out!

All the comforts of home.

The house was perfect for our spring break getaway. So many beautiful hiking opportunities just a short drive from the house. Giant city, fern clyffe and tunnel hill were some of our favorites. Waking up to the beautiful views of lake of Egypt was the cherry on top.

Fall Getaway

Great place to getaway! We really only stayed on the main level, with a big kitchen, fireplace, and beautiful view. My husband was able to fish off the dock and it was very quiet and peaceful. Close to great hiking trails at Ferne Clyffe and a short visit to local wineries.

Family fun for Thanksgiving

After living in this beautiful home for 17 years, we decided to move down the lake to be closer to family but could not part with this beautiful lakeside retreat. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here, and we wanted to give other people the experience of lake life and encourage their inner adventurer to explore all that beautiful Southern Illinois has to offer. Fishing, boating, swimming, camp fires, wineries, hiking and most importantly, relaxation await you.

Why they chose this property

I am originally from Minnesota and my husband is from Wisconsin. We grew up in the outdoors hiking, camping, fishing and spending time in wild areas.We met while we both were attending Southern Illinois University (SIU) and fell in love with the area. The friendly people, beautiful forests, lakes and unique outdoors opportunities made this an ideal environment to raise a family. Southern Illinois is truly a hidden gem and well worth spending some time exploring.

What makes this property unique

The views rock! Whether sitting on the lower deck, dock, by the fire pit or in the open living area, the relaxing views are worth it .

My favorite part beside the view is the great fishing! Large mouth bass, catfish, bluegill and especially crappie are found in Lake of Egypt. Crab Orchard, Cedar, and Little Grassy lakes hold the same species. Kincaid lake has muskies, and Devils Kitchen has rainbow trout. This area has a bit of everything for the fisherman in you.

I like to enjoy my morning coffee in the sun room and a local glass or two of wine or beer on the porch in the evenings. We love to take slow evening cruises in the pontoon to see music or get some food at one of the marinas.

Our 14-year-old loves to swim and look for clams and fish during the day and making s'mores on the campfire at night. Kayaking and swimming off the dock are also high on his list.
