Beautiful lake, comfortable home, wonderful hosts!
Jeff and Heather could not be more helpful and communicative! Their home is updated, spacious, and clean. We brought our boat and put it in their extra slip. The kids had a blast tubing, and the weather, despite a bad forecast, turned out to be warm and sunny. Highly recommend!
Place was very clean, comfortable, and excellent location on the water. Jeff is a great host and very accommodating. Definitely will be staying here again.
House is so nice and clean, hosts are very responsive, and the view is great! Be sure to bring your own spices, condiments, and toiletries as they don’t supply them (which was not a problem….just wanted others to know) but the house is very well kept, comfortable, and has a perfect location!
Great location to explore the area or to hunker down and enjoy the view from the couch! The hosts very responsive. The place was well equipped. Felt very clean. Nice hot shower with great water pressure.. Would return!
Our family visited the Lake of Egypt area for 2025 Spring Break. The property is well maintained, well managed, friendly, accessible (minus the 1,000 steps to the water jk), and well stocked. The downstairs is perfect for kids to play and sleep while allowing adults the ability to enjoy the wonder view of the lake at night. The property owners are approachable, friendly, and available. We were not from the area and weather hazards were in the area during our stay, they communicated and checked in on us to make sure we were comfortable. We recommend this property 10 out of 10.
The house was great, located right on the lake with boat slips for our 4 boats. The house was clean and comfortable for 6. We will definitely stay again.
Everything was as described. This is my 3rd time staying here and it is always great. Clean and great location and great view.. thanks for sharing your place for us to enjoy
3 generations enjoyed having time together in a wonderful place. Great accommodations for just hanging out when too much rain to enjoy the area. Easy access to trails.
Had an amazing time exploring the parks and forests the region had to offer. That said, the cabin served as a wonderful launching point for our adventures and the property checked every box we could have asked for. Whether it was s'mores at sunset or watching the sunrise over the lake, the cabin helped make amazing memories for the kids and grown ups alike!
After living in this beautiful home for 17 years, we decided to move down the lake to be closer to family but could not part with this beautiful lakeside retreat. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here, and we wanted to give other people the experience of lake life and encourage their inner adventurer to explore all that beautiful Southern Illinois has to offer. Fishing, boating, swimming, camp fires, wineries, hiking and most importantly, relaxation await you.
Why they chose this property
I am originally from Minnesota and my husband is from Wisconsin. We grew up in the outdoors hiking, camping, fishing and spending time in wild areas. We met while we both were attending Southern Illinois University (SIU) and fell in love with the area. The friendly people, beautiful forests, lakes and unique outdoors opportunities made this an ideal environment to raise a family. Southern Illinois is truly a hidden gem and well worth spending some time exploring.
What makes this property unique
The views rock! Whether sitting on the lower deck, dock, by the fire pit or in the open living area, the relaxing views are worth it .
My favorite part beside the view is the great fishing! Large mouth bass, catfish, bluegill and especially crappie are found in Lake of Egypt. Crab Orchard, Cedar, and Little Grassy lakes hold the same species. Kincaid lake has muskies, and Devils Kitchen has rainbow trout. This area has a bit of everything for the fisherman in you.
I like to enjoy my morning coffee in the sun room and a local glass or two of wine or beer on the porch in the evenings. We love to take slow evening cruises in the pontoon to see music or get some food at one of the marinas.
Our 14-year-old loves to swim and look for clams and fish during the day and making s'mores on the campfire at night. Kayaking and swimming off the dock are also high on his list.
