The house is gorgeous and a history lovers dream. It has all modern amenities needed and was so relaxing to stay in. The property is stunning, the pool was incredibly well maintained. The listing mentions that there’s no ac but if you follow the hosts directions on cooling it stays a perfect temperature even on a hot weekend in August. The rooms were large and the beds were comfortable. Would highly recommend not only visiting Milford but definitely staying at this property. We had an amazing time!
We love staying at Forester's Cottage! This is our second summer vacationing there and it's a place you never want to leave. Dining al fresco on the front porch and hanging out in the gorgeous pool are highlights of the experience.
This property was amazing and all 8 of us would definitely revisit! The historical significance of the property next door added tremendously to our visit along with the beautiful grounds. Highly recommended.
We had a wonderful day at the Château for our 40th birthday year. What an amazing way to get friends back together after so much time apart in the perfect location we love learning about the history of the family, the property and the quaint town of Milford. We thoroughly enjoyed the inground pool and hikes to the waterfall. This was absolutely a trip to remember, and we’d recommend this property to anyone looking to disconnect and spend more time with family and friends.
We were in Milford for a family wedding at Sylvan Farms.
We had the most spectacular time staying at the Foresters Cottage, and even got to meet one of the family of the owners.
Just could not have need a better place to stay!!!
We loved our stay at the Forrester's Cottage--the pool was fantastic, the house beautiful, and the hike to the falls amazing. My family enjoyed very much the vintage style and furniture--we sat on the porch in the evenings and relaxed with the view. I have to mention that the stairs down to the pool do not have a railing, and that was tough on all of us; some of the steps into the house were also hard--stressful even for me since I have two knee replacements, one of which does not work well. One other small thing was there were several burned out light bulbs. My husband and I were lucky to have arrived early because we needed help finding the way to the house; both of my sisters could not find it, and we had to go out and lead them in. The little road going past the Stable House is almost impossible to see--some signs would be helpful. But once we were all there, we had a wonderful time. Thank you so much!
We enjoyed our time at this historic estate. The grounds were lovely as were the hiking trails and large pool. Although we stayed during a heat wave, keeping the windows closed during the day and placing fans in the windows in the evening, allowed the cooler mountain air to enter the house. The location is ideal as there is plenty to see & do in the historic town of Milford.
One of the best places you could stay. The grounds are stunning and the house is spacious and perfect for a group. The waterfall is unlike anything I’ve seen. I’ll be back!
I really loved this beautiful and unique property. Sat on the veranda with my tea and watched foxes romping around and a family of beavers. You can tell the place is well loved and a great place for family gatherings. They were very accommodating with some special needs I had. The house is designed to stay fairly cool, but even so, it got a little warm at times for our group. Very glad to have had the opportunity to stay here!
The Foresters Cottage (aka Chateau) is an iconic, historic home located on the spectacular grounds of Grey Towers National Historic Site in the verdant Poconos region of Pennsylvania. It is very clean, well appointed, and beautifully cared for. The more one learns about the history the more fascinating it becomes. It was an honor to be able to stay there.
Three couples stayed September 6th through 9 2019. Foresters Cottage is such a special place and the grounds are just so beautiful. We immensely enjoyed sitting on the front porch and taking in the views. Swam in that gorgeous pool, hiked the forest and saw the waterfalls, toured Grey Towers, played pingpong and much more. The town of Milford is a delight. Appreciated so much learning the history of the Pinchot family. Dinner at Tequila Sunrise, dinner on the porch at Dimmick Inn, breakfast at Fork Lift. Attended a local church service and witnessed 6 people getting baptized in a lake. Doesn't get much better than this.
Absolutely wonderful getaway. 💗
Staying at the Forester's cottage is like stepping back in time or being transported to the French countryside. The house is enormous and laid out in such a way as to provide privacy for everyone. The grounds are charming, with hidden sculptures and follies around every corner. Despite being a stone's throw from the Grey Towers mansion, it feels completely secluded. The pool, the porch, the incredibly well equipped kitchen, all add the experience. Milford is a charming little town with antique stores and restaurants. If you are into hiking or rafting this is the place for you, with trails right out the door and the Delaware river a 5 minute drive away. Tammy was immediately available by text for any questions. I highly recommend this amazing, relaxing, bucolic estate.

The house was very historic and I enjoyed that part. I stayed in the downstairs bathroom and the paint was peeling off in sheets and there was quite a bit of black mold under the sink. The showers on all levels had one problem or another, some only had hot water and some just had cold or it took quite some time to warm up. The towel rack in the master bathroom was falling off, which made it a little bit difficult. I think the house itself needs a good remodel. Love that it’s of the era, but I think that isn’t an excuse for not having it painted and mold free. While we were there, the upper shower leaked through the wall and through the Bathroom cabinet onto our Personal toilet toiletries. Water came out rusty upon arrival .

Mindy, I'm so sorry about the mold etc. We had a plumbing problem before you came which I guess the plumber didn't quite fix, leading to mold etc. No one else has mentioned these issues before so they're of recent vintage. Very embarrassing. Plumber is on his way and all will be cleaned, repaired and repainted. So sorry not to meet your perfectly reasonable expectations. Tammy
We had an amazing time staying at the Forester's Cottage. It was a fun, unique experience that we will all cherish and remember for years to come. Our stay at the Cottage and exploring the grounds truly gave us a sense of peace and respite. It was rejuvenating and reinvigorating. We felt as though we stepped back to a simpler time where we could focus on good conversation. All of us -- including the kids -- enjoyed wandering around the house, the grounds, the pool, the forest, and just sitting on the porch during sunset.
The home was much larger than we had expected. The pictures do not do it justice. It was a wonderful time and I hope we will be able to take another trip here again.
One thing that we were a little concerned about before our stay was the lack of air conditioning. However, that concern was all for nothing. Even though we stayed in the middle of the summer, the home was quite cool, especially at night; it was well designed for summer use, with its construction and its location up the mountain and next to the forest. I wish my home was anywhere near that efficient with keeping me cool.
We had the most incredible girls weekend at this property and cannot recommend it highly enough. The house itself is stunning; full of character and history, with gorgeous grounds, a beautiful pool, and porches perfect for catching up with old friends. We swam, hiked to the falls nearby, cooked way too much food, played mahjong for the first time, and laughed until we cried. No one wanted to leave. The host was wonderful and responsive throughout our stay, quick to help with any small questions we had. This is exactly the kind of place that makes a weekend memorable. We’re already planning our next trip back.
Our family had a wonderful time at the Forester’s Cottage. Our stay there was a step back in time, modern comforts but an overall feel of living one hundred years ago. As soon as you pass through the gate, you feel as though the modern world has slipped away, leaving you to fully enjoy family and nature. The falls are spectacular, as are the trails and grounds about the cottage. All in all, a beautiful experience that we hope to have again.
We were transported to a French estate for a week. The Forrester's Cottage was well appointed with antiques and filled with rich history. We all agreed sitting on the porch gazing at the beautiful view of the property was exquisite. We walked to the waterfalls several times which was a great thing to do in the morning or late afternoon.
Having access to Gray Towers was an added benefit. The town of Millford is quaint and close to everything you need. Highly recommend this property.
Thank you Tammy!
A beautiful chateau with old world charm - we were able to cook every day and just spend the vacation at the house with its private pool and beautiful grounds.
We were a little worried about the lack of AC but we were shocked to see that it was actually cool in the house without it! The house was perfect for relaxing with friends and when we wanted a bit more excitement we took the short walk to the waterfall which was beautiful! We had one problem while there and the owner and caretaker were very responsive in helping us figure it out. Would highly recommend!
