Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
Disliked: Communication
The property on the ground floor has been very nicely done. There are however, several issues that older individuals need to be aware of. Top of the list for all potential visitors is that the house is a no shoes location. The owner is near fanatical about this issue. With each communication with him, even though early on we assured him that we would honor the no shoes request, he would in an accusatory way question our adherence to the no shoes request. The following are concerns for older guests:1. There are no hand railings on the stairs to the second floor, which are rather steep.2. The hand railings on the steps leading to the front door were not secure and the wood was splintery.3. There was not light on the staircase leading to the second floor.4. The thermostat for the heat is a very new tech system with no written instructions on how to operate. Each evening we had to call the owner to raise the heat to 70. He was able to do so remotely, and did so after each call. However, with the last request he asked if we could do it ourselves, which we would gladly have done if we could have figured out how to work the system. 5. Though the kitchen had some nice cook ware, there was no microwave nor a kettle to heat water.6. There is a very small table in the kitchen, barely accommodating 2 and that is the only table available for sitting and eating. The owner has made some lovely upgrades to the house, the bathrooms were exceptional.

First it was in a very beautiful setting. The mountain view was fabulous. The grass was over grown up the stairs making it very difficult to walk up in the rain. Was not well maintained yard. With weeds everywhere up the stairs. When first walking in the screen door doesn't function. The smell that hits in the face when first walking is overwhelming. There was great amenities, if there would have been some sort of instructions on how to use and access them. The house had cobwebs in every door and window way, with no screens in them? We rented the whole house with only two towels and wash clothes. Had to ask every evening for the heat to be adjusted because we had no control locally. Only by her using wifi. What if the wifi wasn't working or something? Then I was harassed with questions like VRBO sending her reports supposedly about suspicious stuff happening. Then she asked how many people were staying in the house, and why two beds were used? Also the water is limited no longer baths or showers after we were almost ready to check in. Then after staying for the second night could figure out what the smell was. Found a cat litter box full and nasty. Don't mind taking my shoes off at the door if the house was clean. Also the bathroom with the shower had hair and urine on it before using any of the accommodation. So needless to say we had to clean up some areas to feel like we were comfortable like being at home. Not a VERY GOOD EXPERIENCE AT ALL. Will not recommend this host.

Ive had nothing but great reviews in the past. This individual is clearly vindictive, and provides inaccurate photos. How can wet urine on the toilet bowl photo be anything else than done by the guest? Lets have some common sense here. Yes a country house will have a few cobwebs, it's natural. Also 2 towels for a 3 night stay is completely reasonable. The fact that vrbo allows this kinda of behavior and review to remain in order to supposedly provide accurate feedback on guest experiences is preposterous. I did question how many people were staying at the property after identifying multiple people on the outdoor cameras, this is only normal. There are also rules that the guest also did not follow. I ask for shoes to be removed at the entrance but this was not respected, the guest even admits to it. Disrespectful and absolutely rude behavior. Also guest did not know how to operate google nest thermostat, i helped and controlled it from a distance as a favor but it's not my responsibility either and certainly am not to be blamed for. The yard is very well maintained and there might have been a few leaves around the stairs...this also shouldnt come as such a shock for a property located up a hill on a dirt road. If you wish to stay at the Marriott, please do not step foot in the state of Vermont, bottom line. And do not as a consequence be dishonest if a home sharing program isn't for you.
The host was welcoming, and accomodations were clean & comfortable. Soaking tub and sauna were awesome. I do recommend listing extra charges for more than 2 people, adding extra candles for lighting in the sauna, and providing written instructions for lighting the gas stove as it was tricky and sometimes failing to light. The kitchen table seats 2 people, All mattress beds were very comfortable but the upstairs futon mattress needs replacement.. The down comforters were a big plus and the location was convenient for both Mt Snow and Jimmy Peak. The combination of extra guest fees (over 2ppl) and VRBO fees were unexpectedly high..
