Upon arrival we learned the house was located in a very undesirable neighborhood. The house right next door had a green velour couch on the front porch, barking dogs in neighboring yard, numerous appliances in front and back yard, such as washers and dryers, a bottle of what appears to be urine was left in the front yard, neighbors house had black iron bars on windows. Police were at a house in the middle of the street conducting some kind of stop. We heard what we believed to be a gun shot in very close proximity the 2nd night. Floors were not swept and multiple window sills were very dirty, several bug traps located throughout house on the floors. We did not feel safe the entire time. We saw what appeared to be a person passed out on the ground on our way back to the house on the 2nd night. This is not a neighborhood one would want to stay in.

Response from VrboOwner on 6 January 2026
Unfortunately, this guest was challenging from the beginning and requested to cancel on the day of check-in. When informed that Vrbo policy did not allow a same-day cancellation, she threatened to leave a negative review. We have never had prior complaints about the neighborhood or surrounding area from other guests.

The overall property was really nice and as described in the description. I would suggest that the cleaning staff pay more attention to detail. Specifically, in the master bedroom and master bath. We able to find the iron, but there was no ironing board. I would also suggest getting a new iron. With that being said. We did enjoy how close this property was to the convention center. We were in town for a conference and the property's proximity to the River Walk area was a bonus. Overall we enjoyed our stay and we would consider staying here again.
