About the host
Hosted by Liz Dvorak
We are a local couple long-enthralled with the St. Croix River Valley. Joe, a native Minnesotan, has worked on riverways for all his life. He is an avid golfer and all-round handyman. Liz is a transplanted New Englander who finds the small-town charm of Afton reminiscent of days spent there. Liz is a mixed media artist who owns & operates the Afton Creative Arts Studio, physically located on the VRBO property in the carriage house/garage.
Why they chose this property
The village of Afton is uniquely charming and laid back, yet centrally located to many fun activities. The village itself includes amenities like the oldest ice cream parlor in Minnesota, a historic inn (on the National Register), a wine club, coffee shop, women's clothing boutique, artisan shopping, river walks, and a hands-on art studio (owned by your hosts). You can walk to fine or casual dining spots from the schoolhouse in just minutes. Golfing, skiing, boating, beaches are all within a short distance.
What makes this property unique
The historic.schoolhouse is nestled in the bluffs of the St. Croix River, You'll feel like you're in a Disney movie with daily visits by deer and other woodland creatures, decades old trees surrounding the property, walks along the river's edge. The schoolhouse property is directly across from the town square park with its picnic shelters, tennis court, playground equipment, outdoor grills, gazebos, & more. Our property includes a deck off the kitchen, a charcoal grill & small fire pit. Relax in cozy comfort in this breath-of-fresh air welcoming community.
