“Over the creek and through the woods” . . . to the Log Cabin at Sautee Paso Fino Ranch, a secluded 'true log cabin' with two creeks flowing through the property. This privately owned, family mountain retreat is tucked away between historic Nacoochee Valley and Unicoi State Park – convenient to Helen, Unicoi State Park, Clarkesville, and Cleveland.

We welcome you to visit us and enjoy the majesty of the beautiful and ever-changing North Georgia Mountains where each season displays its own distinctive colors and scenes. Surrounding Helen is the Chattahoochee National Forest, Smithgall Woods, and Unicoi State Park. Richard Russell Scenic Highway and the Appalachian Trail are nearby – as well as many streams, waterfalls, hiking trails, and a wide variety of outdoor activities.

We keep a guest book that includes listings of shops, museums, restaurants, and other attractions.

As you arrive, we personally greet you to give you an opportunity to preview the cabin. We make every effort to provide a clean and pleasant environment for you to enjoy; therefore, this is strictly a non-smoking facility.

The cabin, located on Craig Creek within the Chattahoochee National Forest, is accessed by a gravel road.

Please notify owners about breed/size of pets upon your inquiry. Our pet friendly policy allows a maximum of 2 house trained dogs (50 lb limit). We do ask that your pets be placed in an inside carry kennel when you are away from the property. With your inquiry please state that you agree with our pet policy. Arrangements can be made for us to provide a kennel if needed. (No cats, please)

There are no rate changes for weekends or holidays.

To save costs for the traveler, we charge NO deposit, pet fee, etc. and we pay credit card fees. VRBO charges a service fee, and law requires that you pay state and local hotel/motel taxes.

Due to the creek crossing......No Motorcycles or ATVs

Remove personal items and remove leftover food and drinks
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
There are bags on the dining table. Place the (1) used bed linens in one bag and; (2) the kitchen and bath mat(s), and the used towels/wash cloths in the second bag. Place the bags on kitchen floor.
Empty all trash cans and place the trash bag(s) in the center of the kitchen floor.
Clean all dishes and utensils. Return them to the cabinets/drawers.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
If you are bringing a pet, please notify the owner describing the size and type of dog when you make your reservation request.
If you need to leave your pet at the property, place them in their kennel while you are away.

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend caving trip! Don was such a pleasure to work with, super accommodating and friendly! The property was EXACTLY what we were looking for! Not only was it super cozy, it was also very clean! It also had everything we needed to cook our dinners! We will be back the next time we visit Helen or anywhere is Sautee Nacoochee!

Wonderful Log cabin. Very secluded and the creek wraps around three sides of the house. Comfortable and the wi-fi works great. There is no cell service so the wi-fi was a mist. I would recommend if wanting to get away from the busy city. We will stay here again.

Perfect for a quiet forest getaway! You can hear the gentle rustling of the creek from every room through the magnolia trees. Minutes from Helen and Anna Ruby falls too! Great host, Don is very attentive to the guests and makes sure your expectations are met from the very beginning and he isn't satisfied if you agent satisfied. Definitely recommend sharing at this property and I'll be back again!

We had an amazing stay at this cabin! The location is incredibly quiet and sitting right beside a small creek meant we got to fall asleep to the sound of running water every night—it was so relaxing.Don met us at check-in to do a personal walkthrough and ensure everything met our expectations. He was super nice and made us feel right at home. We have absolutely no complaints and would love to stay here again!

The amount of money he charging per night from customers, Don and Brenda could afford to clean the sky view windows, so dirty cannot even see the sky, couches were very old smelly and dirty. Closet was full of their junk, no place to place your luggage or clothes. Around the property was full of ferns and shrubs and trees in the front of the yard comes inside the sit out/ look out place. So much grasss around the house makes one to be careful for snakes. They never clean the yard and around the house. Not worth for the price. The guy is getting rich for no return for the customers!! Would not go again

We meet guest as they arrive and allow them to walk through the property to assure their satisfaction. The wife walked through the cabin, opened drawers and closets. The only concern that she expressed to me was that the Rhododendron and Mountain Laurel were growing too close to the cabin. She very sternly said that they should be cut down. I responded that the cabin is a creekside property and we carefully prune these native plants. We do not cut native ferns, and cut trees only when necessary. While meeting the guest, we ask them to let us know if they need anything during their visit. The next day I spoke with the couple again while they were walking on the road and emphasized to let me know if they need anything. At no time was anything mentioned. The wife was “borderline” rude at first contact. You can see this in the tone of her very negative comments. Responding to one comment as an example: there is one fabric sofa that is very clean and the other seating is a new recliner that was recently purchased. She did not mention: a pet that was not listed when she made the reservation; her lack of responding to online or phone communication; and the demands that were made prior to her visit. She did not describe the condition of the kitchen as they left or the pungent odor of the spices. It took an hour to clean the stove and several days to clear the odor from the kitchen. I would ask you look at all of our reviews and make your own judgement.

Upon confirming the reservation on April 29, 2018, the guest was notified that we will have someone checking-out by noon on June 8 and we would have the cabin ready by 4:00 pm. On the day of arrival June 8, 2018, I received a call at 12:54 pm from the guest asking when "they could get into the cabin." I explained that the previous guest had checked-out at noon, the cabin was being cleaned and would be ready by 4:00 pm. Our 4:00 pm check-in time, also stated at the bottom of the guest’s confirmation, is posted on the website. Four bath towels, four hand towels and four wash cloths are initially supplied. We personally meet the guests at the cabin upon arrival. Guests are asked to call us if they need anything during their stay.

Cozy and warm. Clean and great atmosphere. I would sit more on the porch swing and listen to the calm creek no more than 5yards away. Great place to unplug and unwind. Everything is in close proximity maybe 15min to Helen.

Our trip at this cabin was good the house was great and very good with communication! There’s lots to do in the area. My only issue was trying to get to the cabin there’s a shallow creek to the entrance that you have to cross over . If you have a low vehicle this isn’t quite a good idea going over.

The Best Cozy Cabin

If you’re looking for a peaceful cozy cabin, this is it! Surrounded by nature and a beautiful creek right outside, it gives you an off the grid mountain feel while still having all the amenities you could want AND is still very close to everything you could ever want to see and do in town. We look forward to staying here again in the future and will be highly recommending it for anyone looking for a cozy place to stay!
