The home itself is beautiful and the location is great, but my guests and I were disappointed by what we thought would be a "luxurious" stay. I feel bad leaving a sub-par review as the host was kind, but ultimately there was little accountability for the state of the home and we had to spend time cleaning and changing plans. When we arrived, there were leftovers, a spilled carton of OJ, and spoiled food in the fridge. We contacted the host and they sent housekeeping over to clean it the next morning, but we discovered more issues the next day that housekeeping failed to catch before we got there and the 2nd time they came. There was clearly a wedding and bachelor party before us. We found moldy flower arrangements, a "just married" sign taped above the bed, light up sticks and bug spray wipes left as trash outside, a shirt with the bachelor's name and photo on it crumpled on the pool furniture, and bags of peas next to it. We couldn't use the grill because the prior guests didn't cover it and it was flooded from the rain. Two guests found dirt and twigs in their bed. The host was apologetic and said he would make it right, but a refund of 7% of the trip cost didn't feel appropriate at a 2000 per-night home. Then he just stopped responding. Also it's not stated in the description, but the basement area is 'lived in' so it has a different vibe from the rest of the house. Totally fine if that's called out or photographed, but it wasn't so we had to shift some beds.
