About this property
Attached modern Tiny House
Brand new light and airy 1 bedroom, 2-story loft style apartment in one of the loveliest neighborhoods in Minneapolis. We call it our Tiny House, but its cool design makes it feel amazingly spacious! Within an easy walk of parks, lakes, and bike and walking paths, it sleeps 3 adults or 2 adults and 1-2 children. There is a 2 night minimum stay. Love shopping? The Mall of America is a 10-minutes away. The MSP main terminal is 12–15-minutes away. We're 2 blocks from a main bus line, too.
Jim and I have stayed in many properties and have tried to include everything we’ve enjoyed in other properties and everything we wished other properties provided but didn’t.
We built this Tiny House apartment in 2024. While it is attached to our main home, it is completely separate with its own exterior entrance and great sound insulation. The home sits on a tree-lined street in a lovely neighborhood between Lake Nokomis and Diamond Lake—each easy walking distance.
The tiny house has an upper level bedroom with a cathedral ceiling. The queen bed sports a comfy Ghostbed medium-firm gel memory foam mattress. The en-suite bath has a tiled shower with 2 shower heads, a clothes closet, and stacked washer and dryer.
The lower level holds a well-equipped kitchen with a full-size refrigerator and dishwasher, a two-burner electric cooktop, a microwave/convection oven, and a L’OR Barista high-pressure artisan coffee and espresso system. We provide a variety of coffee and espresso pods for the Barista, as well as a wide selection of teas. Also on the lower level, the living area features a leather sofa that easily converts to a bed, a 50” LG 4K smart TV on a swivel mount, some office supplies, and numerous games, books, and puzzles.
Minnehaha Creek with its lively water and bike and walking paths is just a few blocks north. Kowalski’s, a local boutique grocery store, and Guava’s, a Cuban restaurant, are 3 blocks from the house, and Heather’s, a gourmet restaurant, is an easy 7 block walk. Many other local businesses and restaurants are a mile or two from the house. Guests have a designated parking space beside our garage, right in front of the Tiny House entrance. Plentiful free street parking also is available in front of the house.
We have a keypad for self-check in. No lost keys, ever!

This tiny house sleeps 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.
No overnight guests other than those in the booking.
Please note that there are 6 steps going up to the front door and 14 steps between the upper and lower floors. There is no elevator.
As with all urban neighborhoods, it's best to lock your car when unoccupied.

About the host
Hosted by Dottie Brown

While we are new to Vrbo, we have Super Host status on another short term rental site, and our ratings have earned us a ranking as "Guest Favorite." My husband Jim and I are retired educators who love to travel and make new friends from all over the world. Jim speaks quite a lot of Spanish and a smattering of Swedish, Norwegian, and French. We enjoy reading, playing online and board games (we are addicted to the NY Times Connections), and walking in our beautiful neighborhood. Recently, we have taken up table tennis! We also love spending time with our grandkids and 3 children and walking our grand dog.
We really enjoy meeting our guests, and encourage you to connect with us in person. But if you prefer not, that's totally fine.

Why they chose this property
We have lived in this neighborhood for nearly 30 years. We were drawn to it by its beautiful homes, abundant trees, and its proximity to lakes and parks. It's walking distance to so many restaurants and is filled with bike and walking/jogging paths.
What makes this property unique
Our TinyHouse is a marvel of design. A few years ago we started thinking about how we could build a small apartment on our property for visiting friends and family. Ultimately, we decided to tear down our one-car garage and build our TinyHouse in its place. The resulting 440 square-foot, two-story, one bedroom apartment with a lofted ceiling has everything needed for long-term living, and feels amazingly spacious. The 2-story TinyHouse was completed in July 2024.
