About the host
Hosted by Mark & Michelle
We’re a family based near Philadelphia who fell in love with the Adirondacks nearly a decade ago — so much so that we made Snowshoe Cottage our second home. From the first time we visited, we were captivated by the stillness of Mirror Lake, the scent of pine in the air, and the timeless charm of Lake Placid. Over the years, it’s become our refuge in every season — from kayaking in summer to snowshoeing in winter.
As outdoor enthusiasts, we’re drawn to the area’s hiking trails, paddling routes, and peaceful mountain views. But what we love just as much is sharing this magical place with others. Whether it’s your first visit to the Adirondacks or your tenth, we’re always happy to offer suggestions, hidden gems, or just help you feel at home.
We hope Snowshoe Cottage brings you the same sense of peace, inspiration, and connection to nature that it’s brought us.

Why they chose this property
Snowshoe Cottage is tucked into a peaceful, tree-lined neighborhood just blocks from the heart of Lake Placid village. From the cottage, you can stroll to coffee shops, restaurants, boutiques, and the Olympic sites — yet you’re far enough away to feel the quiet of the mountains and the rhythm of the lake. In the mornings, the sunlight reflects off Mirror Lake, and you might hear the soft splash of an early paddle boarder or the loons calling in the distance.
What we enjoy most is the sense of balance — being close to everything, yet always surrounded by nature. Whether we’re watching the snow fall from the boathouse deck in winter, or biking to the farmers market in summer, there's always a peacefulness here. The community is friendly and relaxed, with a shared love for the outdoors and respect for the beauty of the region.

What makes this property unique
Snowshoe Cottage offers something truly rare: the charm and warmth of a classic Adirondack camp, paired with a private boathouse on one of the region’s most iconic lakes — all just a short walk from the heart of Lake Placid village. It’s that combination of history, location, and setting that makes this place so special.
What sets us apart is the experience. The cottage isn’t just a place to stay — it’s a place to slow down, reconnect, and savor the beauty of the Adirondacks in every season. Inside, you’ll find carefully curated Adirondack-style furnishings, many of which were sourced from local shops and crafted by regional artisans. Each piece was chosen not just for comfort and function, but to reflect the heritage and spirit of the North Country.
From morning coffee by the hand-laid stone fireplace to golden hour on the boathouse deck, every detail is designed to help you feel both at home and completely transported.
Guests often tell us they feel like they’ve stepped into a storybook — one with mountain views, lake breezes, and a little bit of magic.
