Tucked beneath the trees in Berkeley Springs, WV, The Bear’s Lair is a comfortable home base for a relaxing getaway with family or friends. Spend the day exploring the area, hiking the nearby trails, or enjoying the cabin itself. Soak in the hot tub, unwind in the sauna, settle in by the fire, or challenge the kids to a game of Pac-Man.

It's a place to slow down, reconnect, and have a little fun along the way.

Room to Relax—and Plenty to Do

The main level has everything you need to settle in comfortably, with two queen bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and a cozy living area. The primary suite includes a soaking tub and walk-in shower, while blackout shades throughout the sleeping areas help everyone get a good night's sleep.

Upstairs, the king bedroom has a quiet reading nook. The loft provides flexible space for reading, games, crafts, lounging, or getting a little work done if you have to.

The lower level is the dedicated play space, with Pac-Man, Street Fighter II, shuffleboard, foosball, and board games. There's also a twin bedroom that converts to a king. Please note that the bathroom for this bedroom is upstairs.

Relax Outside

Step outside and settle into the woods.

The wood-fired hot tub and outdoor sauna are perfect for unwinding after a day of hiking or exploring Berkeley Springs. Some firewood is provided to get you started, with additional firewood available for purchase.

You'll also find an axe-throwing setup, cornhole, giant Tetris Tumble, a deck with a grill, and a fire pit.

During the summer season, guests have access to the neighborhood pool and hot tub, about a 5-minute walk from the cabin. Four pool passes are included, with up to four additional day passes available for advance purchase.

Traveling with little ones? We provide a crib, high chair, baby monitor, gates, and other kid-friendly essentials so you don't have to pack the entire nursery.

The property offers direct access to the Coolfont Mountainside hiking trails. Cacapon State Park is a short drive away for hiking, swimming, the lake, and golf. Downtown Berkeley Springs offers shops, restaurants, cafes, and classic small-town charm.

Whether you're looking for an active weekend, a quiet escape, or a little of both, The Bear’s Lair gives you a comfortable place to come home to.

A Note About Being in the Woods

The Bear’s Lair is part of a mountainside neighborhood and is genuinely tucked into the forest, and that's part of its charm. The cabin sits beneath a mature tree canopy, so you'll experience the sights, sounds, and occasional surprises that come with being in nature.

Depending on the season and weather, you may encounter leaves, twigs, pollen, cobwebs, or the occasional bug or woodland critter around the property—particularly in outdoor areas and around the hot tub and fire pit. Leaves can also fall onto decks, stairs, and outdoor furniture between cleanings.

We keep the cabin and outdoor spaces cleaned and maintained, but we can't make a forest behave like a resort. If you enjoy being surrounded by trees and wildlife, you'll feel right at home here.

The cabin has 9 steps to the front door, but the main level is designed for comfortable single-level living once inside.
