The apartment was very clean and very true to description. The neighborhood was very walkable and easy to get to shops and food. The host was very communicative and responsive. We had an excellent stay here and would 5/5 recommend anyone else stay here!
Cute apartment in a lovely garden. Quiet but close to lots of fun shops and great restaurants. Host was helpful and easy to communicate with.

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Disliked: Listing accuracy
Location is 5 stars . House listed as whole apartment/house . No mention in the narrative that it is in fact a renovated basement with owner occupied upper level of single family home . If you look closely at pics you can see the entrance steps down (basement) but that’s it. Folks with dust allergies or aversions to basement smells may want the option to make an informed decision . I figured it out too late when owner provided entry instructions describing a shared door - to be clear they never disturbed us but there were many basement conditions present - dust bunnies , poor ventilation & dog above with long click, click noise nails that would pace & occasionally bark . Water pressure and hot water good . Beds with minimal mattress & wood slat frames incredibly rigid. I know short term rentals in this area are challenging but owner should have accurately advertised listing .

Hi Michael, I am assuming you are maybe one of the other guests that stayed with us as Terry was the person who booked our place and the only point of contact I have had.
Terry said the review would be "perfect", so I'm quite surprised by this review as he didn't express any of these concerns to me directly.
First, there is no "shared entrance". The entrance is through the gate in the backyard and around through a private patio with French doors that have a lockbox with the key.
There are two windows in every bedroom with inset screens, as well as the windows in the common area and the French door that is the unit's private entrance, so there is ample ventilation.
We thoroughly vacuum and clean when guests leave as well as the day they arrive, so there are no "dust bunnies" and there is certainly no "basement smell".
I'm also surprised as the main reason Terry had for choosing our place is the secluded garden which you did seem to enjoy and spent a lot of time in. However that doesn't seem to get a mention, so maybe that wasn't what you were looking for personally. I do mention that my daughter and I live upstairs and I also say that we have a border collie and 2 cats.
Hopefully when you organize your next booking things will be more to your liking.
All the best in your future trips.
Super cozy spot, walking distance to so many wonderful restaurants, parks, and music venues. I was initially hesitant to book because of the lack of bathroom photos—if you’re in the same boat, know that there’s a spacious, clean bathroom with a really nice shower. Communication with the host is quick and clear, and check in and check out were a breeze.
Great neighborhood, easily walkable. Charming apartment with great decor. Quiet and private, with a sweet garden. We had a couple of minor issues with the apartment — a lightbulb that needed replacing; a fuse that blew. Sally was responsive and fixed these immediately. Super helpful!
Easy checkinMuch bigger and more space than expected.Dryer takes a long time to dry….so don’t do laundry load right before you leave like I did. :o)

About the host
Your host
I'm a writer who grew up in Portland, but lived in Hong Kong for over 2 decades, so our place is filled with treasures from our travels. My daughter and I live upstairs with our border collie Pepper and our 2 cats Darwin and O'keefe.
Why they chose this property
Our neighborhood is filled with great restaurants, music venues, coffee shops and a comedy club, so there is plenty to do within a short walk. Additionally the Max and bus are a short walk away as well if you want to take public transport, but street parking is free and pretty easy to come by.
What makes this property unique
A private entrance through a lovely garden path provides 2 private seating areas in the backyard for guests to enjoy. It's a relaxing and comfortable garden surrounded by fruit trees, flowers and a vegetable garden where lots of birds stop by for a drink in the pond or to catch a worm.
The property has two bedrooms, a comfy seating area with a TV and DVD player with loads of books and DVD's to choose from.
We also have a small dining area and a kitchenette with a sink, fridge, microwave a toaster and a kettle, as well as basic cutlery and glasses.
