About this property
Comfortable, quiet island home for a relaxing and fun-filled vacation
Comfortable, open 1500 s.f. home on the quiet, north end of Westport Island near Wiscasset, "The Prettiest Village in Maine". Enjoy the day's first cup of coffee from the raised deck while watching the sun rise over the glistening waters of the Sheepscott River. Listen to the whispering pines, lobster boats tending traps and the call of seabirds. Relax on the deck, new 10' x 20' float or take a walk to the nearby lobster coop and carry back dinner. The island has three preserves for hiking and picnicking. You're just a few minutes from coastal Route 1 where you can rent kayaks and canoes, shop for groceries, play at Monkey See, Monkey Do (look it up), visit Bath and Boothbay Harbor, Maine Maritime Museum, eat at any one of several highly-reviewed, nearby restaurants. It's a great spot to launch a day trip to Freeport and Camden. Fish, swim or put in your kayak or canoe from the new dock (FYI - dock float sits on “mud” at dead low tide for a total of about three hours daily - 1.5 hours per low tide). The hillside leading to the dock is steep, but steps are broad with a bench on a platform half way up/down or two. Settle in and enjoy the amenities: wifi, smart tv, large-capacity washer and dryer, fully-stocked newly remodeled kitchen, linens, hair dryer, iron and board, alarm clock, showers and a tub, dishwasher, microwave and toaster oven, gas grill and coffee maker. The master bedroom has its own bathroom and door that leads out to a secluded, seashore garden with Adirondack chairs. The private and spacious loft sleeps two with seating for reading and relaxing. Another first-floor bedroom also sleeps two. Enjoy riverviews while you dine - rain or shine - from the deck or dining room. There is a well-established and wide variety of shrubs and flowers around the house and here and there on the hillside. Keep an eye out for fox, bald and golden eagles, osprey and seals. Watch the nine foot tides come and go. Westport Isle of View has much to offer. Come see for yourself. Please note: Blink smart cameras are positioned to provide surveillance views of driveway approach and waterside main deck/living room door. These are only activated before guests arrive and after check out.

About the host
Hosted by Tim Murney and Faith Leitner

Faith is a harpist and Tim recently retired from workforce development. We enjoy family and friends, being in and on the water, traveling, DIY projects, good movies, music, books and food. Our two grown daughters have left the nest. We are building some sweat equity into our Sheepscot River getaway with a newly remodeled kitchen, etc.
Why they chose this property
We are natives of the Midwest. But, Faith has roots in the Brunswick area and we both have an affinity for the mid-coast region. We have returned to this part of Maine every fall for the past 35+ years. After looking for many, many months, we found this home on the Sheepscot River. It's got lots of potential and improving it has become a labor of love.
