What a special time we had at this house! It was convenient to all areas of the island and right on the Road to Hana. The house was clean, tastefully decorated, comfortable and had everything that we needed. Though there are many activities in Maui, we found ourselves at the house enjoying the breeze and the view. John is a gracious host and we highly recommend this property.

John was amazing! We were chatting about something unique that wasn’t in the kitchen, next day he brought it to us. The house is truly the most spectacular place. We opened all the doors most of our visit, even when it was raining. the breeze and view of the ocean was so memorable. My husband and I have stayed in many VRBO’s over the years, but the quality of all the kitchen items, and comfort of the bed (best night sleep ever!) this place is at the top of our list as our favorite. Thank you John for everything! With that said, please note that you are in a rain forest and we loved being immersed in the outdoors. if you need air conditioning and are used to closed doors and the sterility of a hotel environment, you may be out of your element.

We loved staying at the Pole House! It really does feel like a quiet retreat in the jungle canopy. The open floorplan and floor-to-ceiling teak and glass doors provide the right breeze for any time of day. We especially enjoyed watching the geminid meteor shower from the comfort of an outdoor couch on the wraparound veranda.John was a gracious and welcoming host! If you do book with John, be sure to coordinate your arrival with him, so that he can guide you to the parking and stairway.

My husband and I had a great time at John’s pole house. The location was great for our adventures exploring the road to Hana, exploring the north side beaches, and our excursion to Haleakalā to watch sunrise and bike back down. John was a great host and greated us on our arrival. We had not yet eaten and he even brought us some homemade pesto and pasta that was delicious! The house itself feels like a treehouse and is both beautiful and rustic. You will feel like you are a part of nature itself. The views off the deck were also delightful. The unit is wrapped on three sides by doors that can slide completely open. There are no screens but the bugs were minimal although we did have some geckos scurrying around which were harmless. For us it just added to the outdoor feel of it all. We would highly recommend this spot especially to help explore all of the beautiful spot along the road to Hana and the volcano and other attractions on the east side or up country. We spent the last 5 days of our trip at the Sheraton on the west side and this ended up being a great combination for us.

Great rustic house with an amazing view and all the amenities. It's an open-air design that really allows you to feel like you're outdoors from anywhere in the house. It also means that "nature" is free to join in once in awhile, which was fine by us. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning in the future. Thanks John!

Everything about the property is as described. Very peaceful and remote. The view of the land and ocean was a sight to see. Jobe greeted us at the time of our arrival. Very pleasant and provided areas to go such as restaurants. I would highly recommend if you’re looking for pure relaxation and quietness. Thank you again!!

We loved this house in the trees! We love being secluded and surrounded by nature and this did not disappoint. You can’t get fresher produce than large avocado tree and the banana farm right on the property! John is very friendly and attentive and we enjoyed our daily conversations with him, always initiated by us, learning about the area and getting great recommendations for things to do. Would stay here again.

We had a wonderful stay at John’s farm! The views were absolutely beautiful, and we loved being surrounded by the banana plants. John was a generous host and shared fresh avocados and bananas with us, which was such a treat. The location was great—close to farmers markets and delicious restaurants. We really enjoyed the peaceful, open-air atmosphere and would recommend this unique stay to anyone visiting the area.

We loved the fact that we could completely open up 3 of the walls to the open air. After a day of exploring the island, the first thing was to open up and let the breeze flow through. There was fresh fruit all around us. The bananas picked fresh off the tree were the best I ever tasted. The owner John, and caretaker Jobe were very friendly and after having conversations with each of them I found we had a lot in common. We would like to return someday.
