About this property

Montezuma Heights, Colibri Cabin Xtreme Ocean view tree house style. Sleeps 3

Feel the breeze end enjoy the amazing view 300 ft. above the pacific ocean. At night you can see perfectly the stars. The cabin is made with antics what gives it his unique warm touch.

One would find us in the tiny and graceful land: Costa Rica. We are at the tip of "Playa Manchas Azules" in the border of Montezuma and Delicias towns, where the sunrise softly awakes one skin when time comes to show. The South part of Nicoyan Peninsula embraces pristine beaches such us: Montezuma, Playa Grande, Cocalito, Cabuya, Santa Teresa, Mal Pais, Playa hermosa, Manzanillo and more. All beaches with its own character and presence, some with calm and relaxing waters and others no matter what moon shines in the sky, they show their powerful will. Some even well know Internationally for surfing conquest. Delicias and Montezuma's town got bless by its aquifers and waterfalls formations decided to make their presence here, adorning the scenery and refreshing the visitors and the surroundings. According to some locals it could be around 70 waterfalls of all sizes, most of them hidden in the wilderness. We made a guideline booklet for our clientele of the Do's while in the area. They are plenty of activities to engage with. From a bioluminescence experience in Curu, to snorkeling in Tortuga Island, getting Yoga classes, paddle boarding, cycling, kayaking, fishing, diving, horse back riding, Spanish lessons, swimming, hiking, ATV riding, canopying, jumping into the waterfalls, exploring the rivers upstreams, photographing, bird watching, fresh see food enjoyment. Our cliff nest has been sculptured with lots of love and patience over the years. First a recompilation of antics: wood, post, doors and windows for recycling purposes took place and then the Restoration of the pieces before taking the challenge to design were and how we wanted them to get alive again. We did all the details, icons and tile work one would find in Montezuma Heights and a well known Costa Rican artist Enrique Hidalgo shows his art imprint as well. If one visit us would get embrace by an outrages sunrises and taking a short cut in 30 minutes would get the ephemeral company of an stunning sunset in the other side of the Nicoyan Peninsula.

Breathtaking views, really roughing it though!
VRBO search led us to this spectacular-view property. Listed tips: ---*extremely* glad we had a 4WD vehicle, lots of unpaved/hole- and trench-laden roads. ---Specific arrival directions were not sent until our arrival day, so access was limited while traveling; we found them after arrival. ---Montezuma itself is a very small town with a few restaurants, Mini-supers and B&B/hostels, mostly surfers and some locals; we would hesitate to drive in there after dark (which happens at around 6:00 pm) so dinner in town is out unless you can find a local ride or walk it (also dangerous). ---On-site caretaker, Santiago, speaks minimal English. ---anything we needed we had to WhatsApp with Peter who would then contact Santiago. Both are kind and well-intentioned, but some better oversight of the property would likely help ---a rough first night for a bunch of random reasons---the small bathroom sink faucet broke off the first time we tried to use it, no toaster as advertised (all our meals involved toast), no working oven/stove (unplugged apparently). Eventually all resolved, but few options to work around once you're there. ---Get groceries in town on the way in as told, cooking utensils/equipment are sparse. Plan to eat simply if you eat there. ---Owners' pool for use on property but was somewhat dirty The cabin is just that---a cabin---with very rustic interior and furnishings. It is very quaint, charming but not the cleanest; if you are prepared for near-camping it's fine, but we had not been, I guess. The shower is outside with limited warm water and flow (fine, it's private and enclosed), the WC is also outside the main cabin which is a trick at night. One must climb up a steep ladder to the sleeping loft and then crawl over to the mattress bed; ventilation provided by two screened windows on either side (which must be shut if any rain.). The deck, the patio and their view are OUTSTANDING, as is the abundant wildlife. In short, the owners/caretaker are kind, well-intentioned people. This place has a breathtaking view, as does the entire area. It is a commitment to be there and one is limited in realistic access due to travel (we were there during the rainy season, so may be better in dry). There are rough surf beaches and coasts to explore along with waterfalls. The cabin itself requires some tolerance and could use a good cleaning (dusty and musty). Would look at others with similar views for $110/night. But we made do!

The location and views from the Bohu Cabin at Montezuma Heights are worth the drive
Bohu cabin at Montezuma heights was our getaway home for the Holidays and we couldn’t have asked for a much better location to enjoy the sights and sounds of the area. Peter and Rocio have created a great environment that from the spectacular sunrises to the star filled night sky you can relax the day away around the pool or on one of the many patio areas overlooking the forest below watching circling eagles and monkeys playing in the trees or take up some local hikes and activities that they happily provide information on. After visiting beaches, waterfalls and rainforests you can either put a meal together in your well equipped kitchen or check out some of the local restaurants from Montezuma or Cabuya for great bites and local craft beers.

We appreciate life and are grateful to be still around in a healthy way. Nature lovers, peaceful minded, love dogs as much as humans :) and all sentient beings. Play music and love dance. Followers of Buddhism as way of being present in this life. We are a couple made up, beside destiny, by our understanding of diversity. Peter an adventurous and visioner German, who left his country cause in the back of his mind since he was a child had the feeling of living abroad. Came to Costa Rica years ago and immediately, fell in love with the beauty of Costa Rica and with a sensitive Costa Rican woman, Rocio. She a former teacher of the University of Costa Rica, a dancer who has the privilege to achieve her master´s degree at Naropa University, in Boulder, Colorado. Comes from a family of a 'Zarzuela' and Operetta singer, and a well known oil painter. Visitors can enjoy his paintings that give life, color, meaningfulness and pour wonderful energy into this space and time container. Peter and Rocio blessed by the cosmos sculptured day by day a family of a 11 years old daughter and older son. A family, with an artistic eye that allow life to nurture them by being always grateful to the forces that compose their rhythm and drive in this trajectory of beingness.

Why they chose this property

We have chosen to live here, cause the first encounter with this place gave us the sense of such a peacefulness for having the lull of the ocean waves as a front neighbor nurturing our senses. Then, the stars without shyness getting out at night to wave at us. The sun touches carelessly the window with its big red face every morning. Seeing a full moon drawing a sparkly path on the skin of the ocean is like an illusion of reality or reality is an illusion? Come to hear the plays of the ocean and be a witness yourself of such a beautiful nature sculpture. Researching that ancient Costa Rican indigenous inhabitants used to lived around, we honored them by having different icons that refer directly to their way of living and being. You would find those around.

What makes this property unique

What make this spot essential and unique is the rich, nurtures and inspiring responses people expressed, when they co-exist temporally in this sacred place.
This cliff is located on a path where our ancestors “the Borucas indigenous” used to lived and probably they picked this spots to connect to their God and Goddesses, since up here one feels closer to the sky and the eternal and infinite star dust.
Beside, feeling embraced by the …” great, wide open ocean view” where the horizon reminds one that limits exist only in the mind, the rest is open and beautiful.
Than, came our input, pouring our effort and love into this land. For a reason, we happened to chose this special spot and the spot chose us as well in some way, so we both are grateful with that cosmic decision. You could be one more who wants to be driven to experience this combination.
We recycled over the years, even before we bought the land, antique doors, windows, floors, beams, cedar, “Pochote”, and other ancient Costarrican wood. We have also adorned this space with artistic tile work, paintings and more. So, one could sense that symbiotic relationship. This requires a great deal of balance, and somehow we are trying to enhance that over the time.
.
We also have the blessing to have the reflection of “Playa Manchas Azules” up here, meaning those turquoise, blue, light blues spectrum of colors irradiate from down up, making the scenery a quite unforgettable feeling…… some of our clients expressed:

“Once in a life time….”
“Lived in Hawaii and I have never seen….”
“We even got engaged here under a magical thunder storm…”
“Magical……
“……. rejuvenating….”
