About the host
Hosted by William Hurd
We’re originally from Virginia and Kentucky, but now live in Washington, DC. Like many people in the city, we fell in love with the bay as a place to slow down and recharge.
Whenever we can sneak away from DC, we try to spend time here enjoying the water, the quiet mornings, and the slower pace of life that the area offers. There’s something special about watching the light come across the water with a cup of coffee or relaxing outside in the evening after a long day.
Because we can’t get out to the bay as often as we’d like, we love sharing the home with guests through Airbnb and VRBO. Our goal is simple: to give others the same relaxing waterfront experience that made us fall in love with the property in the first place.
We hope that when you arrive, you’ll feel exactly what we do every time we pull into the driveway — that you’ve found a peaceful little escape from the pace of everyday life.

Why they chose this property
We chose this neighborhood because it offers the kind of waterfront escape that’s increasingly hard to find so close to Washington, DC. Just about 45 minutes from the city, it feels like you’ve stepped into a completely different pace of life the moment you arrive.
The property sits right on the water, and the view is really the star of the show. You can see the water from nearly everywhere—the deck, the patio, the sunroom, and even from the living room. Mornings often start with coffee on the deck watching the light come across the bay, and evenings are perfect for relaxing outside as the sun sets over the water.
What we love most about the neighborhood is how friendly and relaxed it is. People wave when they walk by, neighbors are welcoming, and there’s a genuine small-town coastal feel. It’s the kind of place where guests can truly unwind—whether that means sitting on the patio listening to the water, enjoying the view from the sunroom, or simply spending time together in the living room with the bay right in front of you.
For Airbnb guests, it ends up being the perfect balance: close enough to DC for an easy weekend trip, but far enough away to feel like a true waterfront getaway. Many guests tell us that once they arrive and see the view from the deck, they immediately slow down and settle into vacation mode

What makes this property unique
What makes this property truly special is the way it blends historic charm with modern comfort. Originally built in the 19th century, the home carries a timeless Cape Cod–style character while still offering the amenities guests expect for a relaxing, comfortable stay.
From the moment you arrive, the setting immediately slows things down. The property sits right on the water, and the deck offers sweeping views of the bay that are hard to match. Whether you’re enjoying morning coffee or watching the sun set, the water is always part of the experience.
The outdoor space is designed for memorable moments. There’s a Solo Stove fire pit that’s perfect for chilly evenings, telling stories under the stars, or making s’mores. For guests who enjoy cooking, the grill makes it easy to prepare meals while enjoying the fresh waterfront air.
Inside, the home balances its historic architecture and warmth with thoughtful updates that make it feel welcoming and comfortable. The result is a property that feels both authentic and relaxing, offering guests something that’s increasingly rare: a beautiful waterfront home with real character.
It’s more than just a place to stay—it’s a completely different pace of life. From the water views to the historic charm, the property feels like a luxurious little escape the moment you arrive.
