Abigail's Cottage!

Such a sweet and peaceful little stay!!! House is precious, comfie…amenities, well thought out and the whole place made us feel welcome. We only stayed one night, but the little cottage was the highlight of our quick trip! We will come back for a longer stay next time!

Great fun and relaxing weekend

Fredericksburg has gotten a little more “big city” but it doesn’t disappoint. Great place for relaxing with friends and family.

Cute and comfy

The rental is a beautiful property that has a great mix of comfortable amenities with classic cozy living. Please keep in mind, this a vintage country cottage. This means that there are certain things you need to expect before renting this older property.1. Walls are thin. If you stay in the back bedroom, you will hear the creaking of the metal windmill nearby if the TV or music is not on.2. Small ants are common in older homes, there is nothing to be done but wipe things down constantly and don’t leave food or dirty dishes out.3. Not many electric outlets, bring extension cords or surge protectors 4. The tub is a an older club foot model that required us to leverage a small plastic foot stool to enter & exit (the exiting was tricky and slippery).5. The air conditioner was an older model. It worked well, but in hotter temperatures you need to use the ceiling fans too. The air conditioner kicking on is slightly loud especially at night.Additionally, the electric fireplace doesn’t work and only one bedroom has a TV.This a perfect stay for a couple or a couple with 2-3 kids. The house rules make the property NOT conducive for a girls weekend or bachelorette trip. All the essentials are included and we found the property cozy and quaint.Lastly the outdoor lightning for the hot tub area did not work. Therefore, using the hot tub at night is not safe as it is hard to see. The outdoor furniture needs repair and a gentle cleaning. There is no privacy fencing between this

This place was very nice. Location was great and quiet. The only issue we had, was there were no wash cloths, but went to dollar general and fixed that problem easily.

Cute cottage

Great place to spend a couple of nights. The house is inviting and homey and well maintained. There were a few things that could've been better hence the 4 rating. But I'd probably stay here again especially if I were traveling with family, girlfriends, or my dog. It's a few blocks further away from Main Street shops, but so close, a quick drive gets you everywhere in Fredericksburg.

Great Location

House was in a great location close to Main Street. We also enjoyed the hot tub. The shower was tricky as far as getting in and out was a bit difficult and the shower curtains from both sides of the tub just wrapped around you the whole time you showered. Beds and pillows were ok.

Overall Abigails is a nice little house to stay in. I was a little disappointed this time though. It was my second year to stay in Abigails Cottage. There were absolutely no bath or hand soap in the bathroom nor shampoo and conditioner. Thankfully I had some with me. This may have been an oversight. The neighborhood is lovely and quiet.

Cute little house for our girls weekend. There were a few things that could be looked at. The ceiling fans in the bedrooms did not work- lights or fan. It was decently clean but looks like whoever cleans it after guests did not see a pad on the floor under the bed, it was new and not used but it was there. There was an old coffee filter with coffee still in it in the coffee pot and quite a bit of dust around. The mattresses in the bedrooms could use a little updating or a pad on them but overall not too bad for a quick weekend stay. Location was also pretty good. Walking distance to a few good places.

Perfect For What It Is

It needs improvement, but for us, it was ok. It was quaint and perfect for the two of us and our pet. The neighborhood was close to everything we needed. We could walk to main street but it was on the far end of the street and not at the center of town. That was still ok for us but some may want to be more centrally located. We knew this would be an older home as many are in the area, and the reviews about the tub are accurate. The parking was fine, and the check-in on Main Street was quick. You have to know that the decor and house are older when you go in. I prefer some imperfections over a hotel. The house had that older Fredricksberg character. We would stay there again but if you have more than 2 or three, get a place with more than one bathroom. Know that there is no access to washer and dryer. I assume that was behind the locked door at the end of the hall? We felt safe and slept well. I would suggest upgrading to a k cup coffee maker, but I appreciated that there was a new sealed container of coffee at the house. We did not use the hot tub, but it looked clean. The outside and yard could be taken care of more and the mattresses could use an upgrade or at least a topper. The house seemed clean but just dated and well used. It was priced lower than some, so we knew we would be okay with it.

Not bad

I emailed about a late check out with no response. You have to go to a business on a very busy street with no parking to pick up and drop off the keys. The house itself was not bad…except for the bathtub! Please renovate or replace the bathtub! Taking a shower was a horrible experience. The shower curtains attack you, water sprays everywhere around the outside tub, and getting in and out can be dangerous. Think of adding a last minute shower head to a claw tub that is raised off the ground on stilts…. It just doesn’t make sense. Pros: beds are comfy, plenty of pillows and linens, quiet and safe street, and H-E-B to get groceries was a very short drive. Cons: Check in and out process of getting the keys is a bit annoying, BATHTUB, driveway to get in and out is very skinny with no room to turn around (but I have a big vehicle), we found out the last day where the fan switch was for the front bedroom (it’s hidden behind the huge armoire), location is at the very end of Main Street so we really couldn’t walk to any of the places we wanted to go.

Grandma & Abby (granddaughter)Trip

Cottage was the perfect place for Grandma and teen granddaughter to hang out in Fredericksburg together. Everything was just as advertised. We loved being able to have easy access to everything in Fredericksburg for shopping, restaurants, etc. and out at Market Days. Easy access and had everything we could have wanted to spend a long weekend to share together and make lifelong memories. Great communications throughout the entire process.

Close to Main Street

Cute little home. Felt very safe. In town, so close to restaurants, art and shopping. The only con would be no grab bar near bathtub. That first step's a doozy, lol.

Just Like Home

We had a lovely stay at Abigail's Cottage. Our first time in the city for a BnB. I really appreciated the convenience of the city. I would like to return in the future. It would be helpful for specific instructions for the DVD player. Other than that, enjoyed our stay.

Enjoyed my stay

Abigail's Cottage was a comfortable home on a wonderful, quiet street. Loved the space - especially the kitchen. Nice area to spread out and get some work done. The sofa was my favorite. When my knee began to hurt, I moved to the sofa to get some rest and fell asleep immediately. Thank you --

So much potential

We had three adults staying. Me (57), sister (60) and Mother (79) for a birthday weekend for Mom. The cottage has so much potential. First, the place needs a good cleaning. The dust was visible on furniture, ceiling fans and floors. The carpet in the front bedroom needs to be cleaned. The light fixture in the kitchen had a layer of dust and even cobwebs on it. The ceiling fan in the front bedroom didn't operate, the floor around the tub is pretty dirty. There was a lot of general clutter. The hot tub didn't really have any privacy and the landscaping in the front is overgrown and messy. I don't know if you use a third party for housekeeping, but they might use some supervision. We also saw signs of mice. The items above the kitchen cabinets are dirty. Also, there was a ton of throw pillows in the back bedroom closet but not any extra blankets or throw blankets. There is a lamp in the living room with a cord stretched across the corner that could be a hazard if small children or pets stay, maybe add an extension cord. We loved the cottage don't get me wrong but see how it could be soooo much better. I'm not putting this on a public review because I feel these things should be shared in private.

Not as expected

The pictures were better than the actual house. The back door did not lock, the bath tub/shower was very difficult to manuver especially for older guests. TV did not work. This little Old house could be much better if it was safer and taken better care of. I think there might be a short in the back outside light, Won't be back. Location was good.
