Hi Eileen,
Thank you for the wonderful 10/10 and for sharing your thoughts—we’re truly grateful!
Your group of 16 (plus your sweet pup!) made great use of the spacious cabin, and I’m so glad the hot tub and beautiful river surroundings were highlights. Reviews like yours mean the world to us after years of hosting here—they help other travelers discover this peaceful spot.
We loved having you all and hope you’ll return soon!
Warmest regards,
Kurt
Kurt, Sharon & their home were amazing hosts to our group. We had 3 families with kids ranging from 8 months to 13 years. The home was well appointed to keep everyone entertained and off screens :)Everything is organized and descriptive, including which lights are on the switches and which dishes go where in the cabinets. The home is tucked back, well off the main road, right on the river, quiet, and relaxing. The dock was the fan favorite, with great fishing. At night you can see owls perched on the cypress trees and listen to the symphony of nature, as a fire burns in the pit.The town and Rainbow River is just down the street 15 minutes away.We would happily return again!

Thank you so much, Michael, for taking the time to share such a lovely review of your stay with us.
It truly made our day to hear that the three families — and all those little ones ranging from 8 months to 13 years — found the house so well-suited for real connection and time away from screens. That’s exactly what we hope for every guest who comes to Withlacoochee Riverside Retreat: a place where kids can explore, fish off the dock, watch the owls settle into the cypress trees at dusk, and fall asleep to the sounds of the river instead of electronics.
We’re especially glad the organization of the house (the labeled light switches, the dish cabinets, and all the little details) helped make your group feel at home right away. And yes — the dock does have a way of becoming the favorite gathering spot, doesn’t it?
Sharon and I are so happy the quiet setting, the fire pit evenings, and the short drive to Rainbow River and town rounded out a relaxing family trip for all of you. We would be delighted to welcome your group back anytime.
With warm regards,
Kurt & Sharon

Hi Tripp - Thanks so much for taking the time to leave this honest review after your Christmas stay with us. We really appreciate you choosing our quiet little spot on the river to celebrate the holidays, and I'm genuinely glad you found it peaceful and relaxing despite the couple of quirks.
You're spot on about The Rustic Roost (our cozy attic suite)—it's the last holdout from the "vintage cabin era" and yes, it still proudly wears its original 90s charm like a badge of honor. The shower stall is of standard size with a vaulted ceiling above, but you are correct, it pales in comparison to the humongous shower in the master bedroom.
We're actively planning the full remodel for 2026 to bring it up to the same updated standard as the rest of the house. The entire property has been a labor of love, and remodeling that room will certainly be a fun project!
In the meantime, I promise the quiet, the river views, and the Christmas magic you enjoyed aren't going anywhere. Thanks again for the kind words along with the constructive feedback—it helps us keep improving and I truly honor all feedback as a way to learn and improve the experience for all guests.
Yours, Kurt
We enjoyed our stay. It was nice to relax, fish and enjoy the jacuzzi. The house was also well stocked. We also took the kayaks out behind the house and made s’mores in the fire pit. Rainbow springs was also close by the house. We would definitely visit again.

It's great to hear the house felt well-stocked and ready for all your adventures, from paddling the kayaks right out back to exploring nearby Rainbow Springs State Park.
That crystal-clear, magical spring-fed river and the park's stunning features—like swimming in those sapphire-blue waters, hiking lush trails, and spotting wildlife—are such a special bonus just a short drive away.
We're thrilled it added to your perfect getaway!
We can't wait to welcome you back for more relaxation and fun—your kind words mean everything and help others discover this peaceful spot. Safe travels, and come back soon! Kurt
We had an amazing time. All of the amenities were wonderful. There was plenty to do at all times. Will definitely stay here again and tell everyone I know about it. Be careful of the long dirt road to get to the property. It's a bit bumpy but worth it.

We appreciate you mentioning the dirt road; it's a peaceful, private setting that many guests enjoy for that secluded feel, and while it can be a little bumpy, I too find it worth the "bumps"...
We'd love to welcome you back anytime—safe travels until then!

Lisa, thank you so much for the wonderful review. We’re thrilled to hear that the cabin was the perfect setting for your men’s weekend. The picture of the guys all together smiling you sent me privately brought me such joy. It’s great knowing they all enjoyed the space, amenities, and those classic moments—grilling steaks, playing games, and making s’mores by the fire pit. That’s exactly the kind of experience we hope every guest has! We’d be honored to host you again anytime. Wishing you and the whole crew all the best until next time!
We had an amazing stay at Withlacoochee Riverside Retreat House! From the moment we arrived, we loved the peaceful, cozy atmosphere and the feeling of being tucked away in nature. The outdoor lighting was intimate. The property was well-stocked with everything we needed, making it easy to relax and enjoy our time together. There was no shortage of entertainment with the pool table, ping pong, darts, board games, and hot tub. For those looking for adventure, the kayaks and life vests were a fantastic bonus. We especially loved the secluded setting down the dirt road—we never saw another neighbor during our stay, which made it feel like our own private retreat.Fishing from the dock was wonderful. We didn’t get to enjoy spending evenings around the fire pit or cooking on the grill, but nice there was that option. Every detail seemed thoughtfully planned to help guests make the most of their stay. The host was extremely accommodating, responsive, and helpful throughout the entire process. If you’re looking for a quiet getaway with plenty to do and all the comforts of home, we highly recommend Withlacoochee Riverside Retreat House.Other things to note: Publix is only 10-15 minutes from house, The Seafood Market in Dunnellon has the best fresh seafood. Rainbow Springs State Park is near (20 minutes) and a great place to explore and swim. And there are a couple of excellent restaurants for a good southern breakfast or perfectly fried catfish sandwich.
