Green alleys, cafes, bistros and workshops of artisans and artists are the charm of these neighborhoods of Montreal. It's up to you to explore them.
Formerly a French-speaking working-class district, Hochelaga-Maisonneuve continues to renew itself and diversify, without losing its identity. In full effervescence, this young and trendy district has managed to preserve its rich architectural heritage that dates back to the beginnings of the industrial revolution in Canada. The place wants to remain friendly and the present rubs shoulders with the past, still visible in its revamped warehouses and factories, its imposing churches and the pretty Maisonneuve market which has retained its vocation until today. You will also discover the Maisonneuve library, the Morgan bath, the Denise-Pelletier theater and the Village au Pied-du-Courant.
Continue your walk further north, towards Rosemont and its many parks and lively urban villages: the Masson promenade and its local shops, the green haven of Molson Park, the Cité-Jardin and its rural atmosphere. So many sectors with very distinct personalities, so many lively living environments. This authentic neighborhood, where Jean Drapeau, former mayor of Montreal, lived for a long time, has always attracted families. In the alleys, so many children played hockey, hiding or bicycle races...
Appreciated by all, the Beaubien cinema, with its varied repertoire and its Montreal International Children's Film Festival (FIFEM), testifies to a stimulating cultural life. In the surrounding area, charming café-bakeries and bistros await you for a break.
Getting Around:
There is a bus stop located just beside the apartment, which brings you to the center of the city, or towards Papineau metro, or Viau metro (Parc Olympique).
A Bixi station is less than 5 min with a beautiful cycle path to the city center.
