Beautiful location right on the water. The sunrise in early October was spectacular over the water. Very peaceful and quiet. The ferry over to Williamsburg was very efficient. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you would ever need.Sitting on the deck with the gentle spash of the waves and watching the wildlife was amazing. Also, very little light pollution so stargasing was excellent.
House and views are gorgeous!! Very clean, including furniture, plenty of amenities included. Very pleased! Thank you for sharing your house with us! Would definitely come back!!
My family had a great time staying at this lovely home. You are right on the James River which was great for kayaking and exploring. The view was beautiful. The kitchen was well stocked and the beds were comfortable. The ferry was 2 minutes down the road which was very convenient and a lot fun to ride each day. If you are headed to Williamsburg I highly recommend staying at this beautiful home.
Coming up the driveway we were thrilled to see the river view. Once we went inside the house, we thought it would be nice, but the home was spacious and nicely decorated and there was everything we needed for making our family get-together comfortable and fun. We enjoyed cooking most meals "at home," and also enjoyed going into Williamsburg on the ferry (close by) to visit Colonial Williamsburg and other sites. We all went out on the two kayaks and really enjoyed the wildlife we saw--our kids saw otters, a bald eagle, ospreys, cormorants, and other birds :-). This is our favorite vacation home so far. And the house was immaculate.
I have little to add to the previous reviews; this house is simply amazing. It offers lots of space and privacy inside, the house was clean and the sight of the James River from the deck is simply stunning. At first, we didn't know what to expect with the river, but it turned out to be very friendly and safe for kayakking and swimming (do bring water shoes). As for the surroundings: we visited Jamestown Settlement and Historial Williamsburg, Richmond (NASCAR), Norfolk (Tides, baseball) and Virginia Beach. We stayed in August, so it was hot. The bugs didn't bother us (barely noticed them, but itchy legs told us they were definetly there :)) The sun screen on the deck does not work (not listed as an amenity neither, so this is no complaint), so at times it was too hot so sit there. But there is also seating below the deck for shadow! And in the afternoon (when shaded) we used on the upper deck as well. Kids also liked the swing, best view in the world :) We used the ferry 4-5 times, very efficient. We would definitely stay here again!!
The property is fantastic, pictures do not do it justice. We had 6 adults staying in 4 bedrooms and everyone was very pleased with their bedroom. The property was well stocked with kitchen essentials, even disposable products (we used up the aluminum foil so we replaced it).The views of the river from were great, even inside the house. We are very thankful to Rene for making this property available. We look forward to staying there again.
The location was great for our excursions in to Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown & Yorktown. We all enjoyed the ferry ride over each day. Perfect location, perfect hosts, very comfortable & clean!
My son insisted that I write a 5 start review at least 4 times before we left. The house was spacious, comfortable and had everything we needed to make our own meals including a birthday cake. The view is obviously the highlight here and it was delightful to sit on the deck by the water. The kids loved the birds especially the goslings and great blue herons. They enjoyed picking up unique rocks and shells along the beach and my son patrolled the lawn daily with his colonial riffle. The ferry was easy - we took it almost every day. We were all pretty sad to leave the warm weather and beautiful spot to return to our 30 degree temps in Maine. Recommend bringing slippers or grippy socks for the stairs. Thanks for a great stay!
We had a fantastic stay! The house is gorgeous and we loved spending our evenings on and along the river. There was lots of space for our group of 8 to have their own rooms and bathrooms. Using the ferry (which was only 5 minutes away) to get across to Jamestown and Williamsburg was easy and greatly enjoyed by my children. We hope to stay here again in the future!
