About this property

Come visit Lake Superior on the largest island in the continental United States.

The Swank cabins of Eagle River are back by popular demand. In the 1940s my Great Grandparents Jim and Norma Swank came to Eagle River as tourists and fell in love with the town’s peace and tranquility. Shortly after buying the property on Pine street and building our house, these two cabins (The Moose and the Bear) were built. Not long after that, the Swank Beach Motel (Now the Fitzgerald) was established. Take a trip into the past while visiting Copper Island. When renting with us you will have the property all to yourself. With 3 queen beds, this cozy retreat offers a pleasant amount of living space and sleeps six adults.

With Lake Superior less than a block away , you can see for yourself if the rumors of her crystal clear waters are true or not. I won’t spoil the surprise, but you will feel as if you are in a tropical paradise when stepping into the cleanest, most beautiful water on earth.the all sand bottom of the lake is our favorite feature for obvious reasons. If you are a night owl, you can load up the solo stove and star gaze, you may even catch the Northern Lights. If you are an outdoor enthusiast the options are endless.
McClain State park, Estivant Pines Nature Sanctuary, Isle Royale National Park and Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park are all local favorites. From Copper Harbor to Ontonagon, Eagle River puts you right in the middle of all of the action of the western upper peninsula.

We had a great weekend staying at the cabins. The property is in a good location for exploring the tip of the Keweenaw peninsula. Anthony was a great host and was very responsive when we reached out to him with questions.

What a wonderful surprise. Anthony, our host was incredible! Mel was awesome too! Immediate responses to any questions and the kindest energy throughout the entire process. The cabin was perfect. Clean, basic, and perfectly located to the beach. Walk outside the cabin, make a left and about 10 steps from the front door you will be able to see the beautiful, crystal clear waters of Lake Superior. Walk 30 seconds down the road and you will be at the beach. Fires roaring right on the shore, a top notch restaurant located inside the hotel Fritz, and miles and miles of Beautiful shoreline to explore in either direction. My boyfriend and I love to camp but our kids didn’t want to, so we put up our tent while they slept inside. A great compromise for different personalities. What we all agreed upon was how amazing the town was, how much there was to do, and sitting by the fire every night roasting marshmallows and laughing until we cried was definitely a much needed break! We were so sad to go home. Definitely will be coming back to stay next year! Or maybe again this year! If you have never been to the UP and want a place to stay where you can experience the full beauty of this magical land! Then this is the perfect little cabin to rent! Thank you Anthony for answering all my many questions! You are a wonderful host!!
