Our Newly Renovated Estate Home in the quiet neighborhood of Hakalau invites our guest to relax and enjoy paradise in luxury. Spacious and open floor plan offers plenty of room to accommodate large groups and gatherings. Air conditioned living spaces and bedrooms. Free Wifi and Business Station. Relax in our custom Finnish Sauna or enjoy the evening shooting pool in our upstairs gaming area. Just a short walk to beautiful Hakalau Beach Park and minutes from famous Akaka Falls State Park. Hakalau is a beautiful 15 minute drive to Hilo, HI and airport. Just an hours' drive to famous Kilauea creator that has had 25 eruption episodes since December 2024. There is a good chance a new eruption will happen for your amazement during your stay. This gorgeous retreat is the ultimate getaway for your group. We're happy to assist with any questions while you stay at our house.

The property and the hosts are exactly what you want for a relaxing vacation on Hawaii. The host is very welcoming, responsive and hospitable offering great local recommendations and quickly answering a few questions we had during our stay. You can tell when you are a guest by the way the property is kept and the smaller touches that they care a lot about their guests. The property was perfect for a family holiday. Lots of room, privacy and close to a number of beautiful walks and sites. Each room is well appointed, the kitchen is newly remodeled and the space overall is very inviting. We also loved all the space on the front lawn for kids and sunbathing. We plan to come back again soon!!

Please review my email exchanges with the host, which have been removed from my phone. Four adults and four children arrived to an unlighted house in a rural like dark setting at about 10 pm with no access code and no cell service. Driving back towards Hilo we reached VRBO who was unable to reach the host. We explored all the hotels in Hilo and all were full. Preparing to sleep in our cars, we finally got a reply from the host who admitted he had lost our reservation and so had not managed for our arrival. The next morning when he offered no recompense I suggested he remove the charge for the first night. After considering overnight he offered a 5% discount. I declined. Later I got notice of a small refund. Terrible hosting. The house was very well appointed and enjoyable. I would include the lack of cell service in the online description. Might be relevant to people with medical conditions for example. Or for those like us locked out at a late hour in the dark!

Why they chose this property

The Doctor chose this home in Hakalau as his eventual family home when he retires. It is in a quiet, beautiful area that is just far enough away from Hilo to be nice an quiet, yet only 15 minutes to downtown for shopping, restaurants and harbor/beach activities.

What makes this property unique

This home is a nicely appointed, spacious home that immediately makes you feel like it's time to relax. You can open up the house and feel, hear, and experience the paradise that is Hawaii. Or close up the home, turn on the A/C and create your own comfortable environment. The open floor plan lets all our guest interact with each other no matter where they are in the home.

There is plenty to do at the home with entertainment throughout. Pool Table, Sauna, lawn games for our expansive front yard. Snorkel gear for exploration of some amazing reefs in Hilo.

If you just want to relax and cater to the family, you have a full kitchen with all the amenities needed to prepare great meals. There is also a BBQ in available to fire up some great meats!!!

What you'll love about our home is that even if you plan to be active on your vacation, once you pass through our front doors, you immediately want to grab a cold beverage and just chill. It really has that kind of vibe...kind of like "you've arrived".
