About this property

Hidden Paradise - Private Pool, Mountain View, Wi-Fi, AC, 30 min to Samara Beach

"Pura Vida" in Hidden Paradise!

This cozy cottage located in the National Geographic recognized Nicoya, Costa Rica Blue Zone is a perfect place for a tranquil retreat. Admire the mountain view from the comfort of a hammock on the back patio with a cup of the best coffee in the world. Swim in the custom built pool that includes a tanning ledge, umbrella, bubblers, bench seating, and built in barstools. Prepare your "Carne Asada" on the gas grill in the Bar/ BBQ Gazebo and then transition over to the Poolside Pavilion for dinner. If you need more space to stretch your legs on a rainy day, head down to the large Ranchero and check out the historical ox cart. Don't forget to keep your eyes (and ears) open for howler monkeys, iguanas, and the many colorful birds who frequently stop by to say "hola".

Inside the cottage, you can find locally made artwork and A/C in every room! The primary bedroom with ensuite is a haven of relaxation. It features a newly renovated bathroom, large custom built closet, and plush queen bed. The secondary bedroom includes two twin XL beds and a small desk. Additional sleeping space can be found in the fold out couch located in the quaint, colorful living room. The updated kitchen includes a traditional Tico style sink and all of your essential dishes and utensils to ensure you can enjoy all the tropical fruit and "gallo pinto" your heart desires.

"Mi casa es su casa" at Hidden Paradise. We have provided a washer and dryer; iron and ironing board; ample towels, linens, soap, shampoo, conditioner and a hair dryer; pool towels and toys; and a cooler you can take to the beach.

Just 30 minutes away, is the highly-rated Samara Beach known for its calm waters, wide sandy beach, and family-friendly atmosphere. It's a popular spot for swimming, beginner surfing, and enjoying the sunset. The beach is also known for its cleanliness and is a Blue Flag beach. Be sure to check out El Lagarto for dinner with your feet in the sand. If you want a place to eat a little closer to the cottage, you can swing by Restaurante La Roca on your way home for an incredible meal, specialty cocktails and a view. Behind the restaurant is a hiking trail leading to a waterfall called La Roca.

If you go 30 minutes the other way, you'll find yourself in the captivating city of Nicoya. Here you can visit the Parroquia San Blas, one of Costa Rica's oldest churches. In front of the church is the lovely and well tended central park of Nicoya. With its huge old trees and children’s playground it is a favorite place for meeting and relaxing while surrounded by shops and restaurants. If you are interested in taking a hike, Cristo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer) is located on Cerro La Cruz. It's a popular landmark and a symbol of faith, offering panoramic views of the surrounding area.

Whether you're looking for a wonderful getaway or a fabulous retreat, this charming property has everything you need for a terrific stay. It's easy to see why you'll be able to unwind at Hidden Paradise.

About the host

I am from Indiana in the United States. I first experienced Costa Rica as a college student when I studied abroad. The experience was LIFE CHANGING! The beauty, culture, and general "Pura Vida" lifestyle made me feel right at home even while navigating language differences. As an adult, I had the opportunity to purchase a property and jumped at it. This is a place my family LOVES to use ourselves. It is our home away from home and close to our hearts. We rent it out only to help cover maintenance fees, not as a big business. I hope you love it as much as we do!

Why they chose this property

The neighborhood is remote. The monkeys hang in our trees and steal our mangoes. The birds perch on the branches and watch us drink our coffee and Imperial. The iguanas sunbathe by the pool. It's quiet and private and a true retreat from the chaos of the tourist areas.

What makes this property unique

Having a retreat style home in such a remote area is rare in Costa Rica. There are very few other rentals with the amenities and high quality experience we can offer that are not right in the hot spots and surrounded by tourists. Just a little drive down the road and you can get local meals for dirt cheap. The "neighbor" is in his 90s and lives a true "Blue Zones" lifestyle. You can hear singing from the church up the road on Sunday mornings. It's incredible and authentic.
