Great cabin getaway

This was our second time staying here. The views are insane out back! Great spot for a family getaway and very close to the trails and national park.

We had a great time.

We had a great stay overall and really appreciated the location and views. The cabin is spacious and comfortable, with a layout that worked well for a larger group. The owner was polite and very responsive—when a nail popped on a floor trim piece, he had it taken care of immediately, which we really appreciated. The pictures of the view does not do it justice. It was magnificent. There were a few minor issues worth noting: we only found one dish rag and no kitchen towels for drying dishes, and some of the nonstick cooking utensils were quite worn and peeling. There also weren’t quite enough blankets if you’re planning to use both sofa beds. None of these things ruined the stay. All in all, we enjoyed our time here and the cabin served us well—especially the peaceful location and cozy atmosphere. Would recommend with a few small notes for future guests to come prepared.Had a great time

Classic Mountain Cabin

The cabin was extremely cosy. It was built in the late 60s, so much of the design is pretty vintage, but it’s incredibly well kept and it in the progress of being updated. The location is about a 5 min drive from downtown Gatlinburg. There are three bedrooms, and two couch beds. This was perfect for us and our two kids. There is a small convenience store down the road for basics if needed. The owner, Jim, was excellent with communication and making sure everything was taken care off. I’ll definitely rent from him again..

We loved Owl Pine Chalet

We had an amazing time and will stay here if we visit Gatlinburg again. The view is amazing and the house was very comfortable for my family. The location is minutes from downtown gatlinburg and the sugarland visitor center which was so convenient! The host was available and we appreciated his help with a couple of questions that came up. We highly recommend this property!

Family getaway

The views were fantastic, my family enjoyed their time at this cabin, the views were breathtaking, the hot tub was wonderful and relaxing, the pool table was a plus. Close to town if needed. Didn't see any bear, but maybe next time. Owner was great and available for any questions/concerns. Truly enjoyed our stay and look forward to staying here again in future.

Absolutely Loved Our Home Base for Vacation

The cabin was better than expected. So warm and comfortable. We had a wonderful stay. Jim sent lots of helpful information ahead of the trip so we were able to plan our days with some personal expertise. Really can't say enough how happy we were with everything. The beds were comfortable, all was clean, showers were hot and the hot tub was clean and easy to operate. We would love to return in the future.

wonderful stay!

We had a fabulous stay at Jim's cabin. He was very helpful leading up to our stay and answered any questions we had. The cabin is in a great area close to the national park with an amazing view. We even saw the neighborhood bear. The cabin is very clean and had everything we needed. We would stay again if we are ever in the area. The only thing to note for those looking to stay - the roads around the cabin are narrow and steep. The view is absolutely worth the drive but know what you are signing up for!

Breathtaking!!!

Truly the most beautiful view in all of Gatlinburg. We found the view from the back deck more beautiful than our hiking view!! Jim was an excellent communicator as well. My son loved the home so much and is already hoping to stay next year. I think we found our home away from home in Gatlinburg!

Breathtaking view!

First time to take summer vacation in TN this year. We typically only go for a few nights. There is so much to do there, we had a full itinerary and also time to relax! Owl Pine gave us a beautiful view of mountains! Jim was great with communication and when we had an issue with the AC, he had a handyman come out right away. The hot tub was very relaxing. It was great to do laundry before we went home. Full kitchen with all cookware/necessities, but must bring all supplies for cooking including salt and pepper. Beds were comfortable and house was clean. The access to downtown or to get back to the bypass was easy. The access to the club pools were also great. We were able to see 3 bears during our stay! Be sure to lock your car! jim told us this, but we had one event where we went back out and forgot to lock it back! A bear got into our neighbor’s and our van. Thankful there wasn’t much damage, just a minor tear on the seat. The home needs some updates and TLC. The main level tv would freeze / buffer, but the basement tv worked okay. The lower deck is in great need of being stained/ cared for. There seems to have been an old water leak in the bathroom, as the floor around the toilet was warped. Overall, we’re very pleased with our stay. We chose this place for the view, and it did not disappoint! You can even see a bit of the sunrise peeping through the side trees! I would stay again!

Great View but Chalet needs work

We read the reviews before booking the cabin and although it said the cabin was dated, we were not prepared for what we would experience. The home was circa 1968 and it showed. When we arrived the air was set to 85 which is what the host expects the house to be left at between guests. The strong mildew and mold smell was awful. My son left with a terrible allergic cough. There were also numerous flies in the basement when we arrived. The decking outside was filthy and peeling. There were also several raised nails that were a safety hazard. The first day everybody wanted to leave but we didn’t want to lose the money we paid and didn’t know if we would find other accommodations last minute. The visitor log book had multiple requests for different things to be repaired. The home is in need of maintenance, deep cleaning and upgrading. We made the best of it considering the circumstances and still managed to have a good vacation because of all Gatlinburg has to offer and being together as a family. Every time we came back to the cabin after enjoying Gatlinburg for the day, we dreaded it because the mildew smell never fully left the home for the duration of our stay. On a positive note the beds were very comfortable and the view was amazing. We also saw bears and owls. The host was also very nice and sympathetic but he does not live in the area. The home needs an active local property manager to take care of issues.

Our family spent a long weekend in mid-October and couldn’t have been more pleased. Gatlinburg was a madhouse as expected, but this spot gave us a great little hideaway with quick access to GSMNP for hiking. I almost don’t want to give this place a review so I can keep it all to myself but the views from the porch….20/10!!!! Absolutely breathtaking. I could spend full days just sitting out there watching the mountains. Jim was great and communicative, and we can’t wait to return!

We had the BEST time staying here!!! Quiet, the VIEWS, and the black bear visitors! A mama bear and her 3 cubs came and played in the backyard for about an hour. It was the highlight of our trip!I quite literally never wanted to leave the swing. There are 2 stores within a few miles and they both cook amazing pizza. But the kitchen had everything we needed. There was even ice already made in trays which I appreciated. We also really enjoyed the hot tub and pool table!Check-in was so easy and the host provided ample information on the neighborhood and surrounding areas to visit and explore! This will hopefully always be our Smoky Mountain getaway. Our home away from home!!

Heaven In The Mountains

I’ve rented dozens of properties but I can say this was the best. Fantastic communication from the owner. Your GPS won’t work right in the mountains. Jim sent fantastic maps and tips. Was hoping to get a picture of the bears but never had my camera when they walked by. I love this place because if all you want to do is rest and look at the beauty of nature it’s perfect yet you’re only minutes away from all the fun stuff. We’ll be back.

Our Family fell in love with Gatlinburg, The Great Smoky Mountain National Park, and surrounding areas, 3 years ago on our first vacation trip to the Smokies. On our 3rd vacation we came across our new found home OWL PINE CHALET, which has a 'One of a Kind' View and Bavarian Style House. Our Original plan was to purchase a house,in Gatlinburg, 8 years down the road, with the intention of retiring and moving down full time.
Owl Pine Chalet is that exceptional property. The chances of a house like this making its way onto the Real Estate Market is Rare. Normally Houses like this are passed on,within a family, from Generations to Generation.
Our family enjoys all Outdoor Activity, such as Hiking, Biking, Kayaking, Mountain Climbing, Fishing, Golf, Tennis... The Smokies and Chalet Village have it all. And with the 3 club Houses on Ski Mountain we have the pools and Tennis courts for our and our guests use and enjoyment.
Picking the Name: Owl Pine Chalet
Just the setting alone reminds us of the Bavarian Alps, in the Summer and Winter (not as much snow and shorter winter season). The house architecture was designed in the style of a Bavarian or Swiss Alps House. Names such as Apline Chalet, Alps Hause, Chalet Edelweiss...were nice names that would fit, but these were too frequently used, so we did a play on words and that's how we came up with 'Owl Pine Chalet'.

Why they chose this property

The following are the most important things that attracted us to the property and it's location:
1) Parking - needed a place to park that was not off street and did not require 4 wheel drive to go up or down. This house is level with the road, which is not a steep road.
2) One Step up to the Main Deck of House from Parking Area.
3) View The View is one of the biggest in my opinion. The view position of the house is perfect and close to Mt Leconte. In the fall, I even get a partial city view.
4) Access to 3 Club Houses on the mountain, all with Pools and 2 with tennis courts and indoor game rooms.
5) Location to Key Roads and Activities. Location to the National Park was important and close proximity to Ober Gatlinburg (1 mile) as well as the City of Gatlinburg (1.5 miles).

Premier Host

They consistently provide great experiences for their guests
