We’ve been coming since the 90’s for extended weekends, week and two week trips. We’ve come in all seasons and have enjoyed it all. The staff is always quick to respond to anything we’ve ever asked of them. It’s the “Up North” vacation memories I have as a child.

Love the lake, but the cabins are not how I remember

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have gone to the Grand Pines since I was a kid. We always loved staying there due to the beautiful lake and wonderful cabins. This time was great but we were disappointed to find huge cob webs over all of the antiques. The jets in the tub didnt work and looked like they hadnt been cleaned in a few years. I will say that we had some trouble getting the fire places to stay lit and management took care of it straight away which was much appreciated. Overall, we had a good time but will not be renting cabin 23 again.

We enjoy the location on Little Round and that the cabin, the boat, and the staff are all dependable. We’ve rented paddle boards, jet skis, and tubes over the years that have all worked out well too. The new concrete patio and paved parking areas are great added features. Staff at Grand Pines are a pleasure to work with, really appreciate all Mandi does to make our stay as worry free as possible. Having a pontoon boat included in the rental is a real bonus! Enjoyed plenty of time on the water, followed by dinners at Powell's. We plan on returning in 2024 for our 6th year.

I wasn’t asking for anything back but no response!?!? I will never recommend any of my friends or family to stay here if that’s how they are conducting business. I would like to add that you need to salt by the stair, I live here in Hayward and completely understand the ice problems but by the main entrance/exit would just take a little effort. (Sent to Grand Pines and contract company) I just wanted to share with you that this cabin has a major ant problem. The downstairs bathroom and kitchen area are infested. I noticed ants on the toilet in the shower and on top of the bathroom sink. Sunday morning when we went to have our doughnuts we noticed a good 20 ants on the counter with the same amount inside our food. We ended up storing our dry foods outside to avoid them getting into it. I have pictures if you need them. When we went to make breakfast the stove igniter keeps coming on if you use the front left burner, this happens bout 45 seconds after you start it. I tired turning it on and off a few time and abandoned cooking from that front left burner all together.

Our only disappointment....was the condition of the Pontoon. We have NEVER RENTED A CABIN FROM GRAND PINES, with the boat in such TERRIBLE CONDITION. I actually was in shock. It had not been cleaned up either. So sad, because these cabins and pontoons use to be immaculate. I brought 2 people that had never been in Hayward before. I was embarrassed. And for what you pay..,that boat needs to be replaced. I love this resort, and this lake so much. Really , really miss Dave’s restaurant. Now I’m bringing grandchildren to the lake. Good thing we liked the cabin.....

It's a good thing we liked the cabin as we were pretty much cabin bound our entire stay due to freezing rain and ice all weekend. The cabin was just as pictured, clean and well stocked with anything we needed aside from food of course. Would recommend.

Weekend getaway

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have stayed at several different Grand Pines cabins over the years. We like the location and the fact that they include a pontoon rental. This was our first time in Cabin 23. While it was 100% fine - we did find that this cabin is feeling a little tired. The fireplace would light, but would not stay on (we did not call for maintenance for this issue because we didn't want to hassle with it). The couch springs were also very worn and extremely squeaky. We also had an issue with the pontoon. We were out on the lake fishing and when we tried to start the pontoon back up to move spots, we found it would not start - so we had to call and have maintenance come out and put a new battery in the boat. Thankfully they were very responsive and the whole process from first call to new battery was about 30 minutes - so we appreciated the prompt response. Overall, nothing was terrible, we just felt we have stayed in nicer cabins at Grand Pines than this one.

Pontoon boat with cabin rental is great, able to enjoy time on the lake, be sure to look for the eagle residing on Little Round. Would not hesitate to book another stay with Grand Pines!
